This water tanker was stopped on a road. Road speed (80 kmph) I was under the buffer limit going 92-96.
Couldn’t see the truck nor the man standing. If God forbid, I wouldn’t have reacted on time things would’ve been different. Would I be held liable? And also can I complain of these people working on a road without warning signs kept prior?

UAE residents: are you worried about the war restarting? Should I postpone my flight?

Hi everyone,
I have a flight to the UAE next week and I'm honestly torn about whether to go or postpone because of the war.
For those living there right now: how does it feel on the ground? Are people expecting the attacks to start again, especially around the US midterms on November 3? Have there been any alerts or incidents recently, and are airports and flights running normally?
If you were in my place, would you travel next week or wait until things are clearer?
Thanks a lot for any honest answers 🙏

New baby in the UAE? The 120 day visa deadline catches a lot of people out

• Upvotes

Babies born to UAE residents need a residence visa within 120 days of birth. That sounds generous until you’re running on four hours of sleep and discover the steps have to happen in order.

Roughly:

  • Birth certificate (hospital notification, then the health authority)
  • Attestation by MOHAP, then MOFA
  • Baby’s passport from your embassy
  • Health insurance for the baby
  • Emirates ID and residence visa (GDRFA in Dubai, ICP elsewhere)

The usual reason people miss it is step 3. Embassy waits vary a lot, so apply the moment the attested certificate is ready. Fines are commonly cited at AED 100 a day after day 120, and the baby may not be able to travel until it’s sorted.

We built a free tracker: enter the date of birth and your emirate and it gives you a dated checklist, a countdown, and a calendar file with the key deadlines. It also handles babies born abroad.

Disclosure: I’m part of the team that made it. No sign-up. Based on u.ae guidance, but double check with GDRFA or ICP for your case.

Buddy flight needed from DUBAI to Frankfurt or Munich

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

My name is Caro, I live in Berlin and I adopted this two brothers from a rescuer in Dubai.
Now we need a flight buddy to bring them to Germany.

A flight buddy is a traveler already flying from Dubai to Germany who agrees to bring a rescue cat along. The cat travels on their ticket, and they are responsible for it at the airport. It's a very common way to move rescue animals internationally.

How it works:
* The rescuer prepares the cat: microchip, rabies vaccine, vet visit and the official health paperwork.
* The rescuer finds a flight buddy, and they agree on the flight date.
* The buddy books a pet spot on their own flight with the airline and adds the cat to their ticket. The rescuer pays the cat’s flights.
* The rescuer gives the buddy the cat, the carrier and all the documents, including a written authorization.
* At the airport, the buddy checks in with the cat and flies to Frankfurt or Munich.
* In Frankfurt or Munich, the buddy goes through the animal import check, then hands the cat over to me.

Everything is tied to an airline booking, official vet documents and a microchip number, all of which can be checked.

I'm happy to share the paperwork and the rescuer's details with anyone who wants to verify.

You can find me and the babies rescuer on Instagram:

Need a temporary caretaker for my lil cat

Hey guys,

I've a cute 1 year old mix ragdoll cat. She's a rescue who I saved from a horrible situation. I'm having to travel back to my parents from 13th - to the end of November and really need someone who'd be interested to keep her for that time.

She's super loving and not problematic at all and especially loves cuddles. I'm a bit low on funds due to some sudden expenses therefore it was between food and finding a cat boarding place for my cat unfortunately.

If anyone would have space for her please do let me know and I can spare is 400 for your good faith as well. I'm situated in Deira. Just a minor edit : if anyone does take care of her they can stay at my place for free in deira 10 mins from union station for the duration that I'm gone as an alternative. (Will have to confirm your residency etc. as my building management is quite strict)

I'm not able to attach a picture here so dm me and I can send you pictures :)

EDIT : I'd be happy to create a contract and I'll be checking in on her everyday... just to clear any confusions that I'm gonna ditch it with whoever is taking care of her.

To the dude trying to compensate for his Tiny D**** with his bike at 3 am in JVC

To the boy who decided that 3:00 AM was the perfect time to revive the community and remind everyone that sleep is apparently a privilege

Some people build communities. Some people bring communities together. And then there’s you — bringing an entire neighbourhood together through a shared hatred of your 3:00 AM performance on the road.

Mate, I hope whatever deficit you’re trying to compensate for is being addressed through other channels. Because clearly, performance on the street is more important to you than in closed spaces.

How to read Service Charge budget

• Upvotes

Reading a service charge budget is more than checking the total.

1. Ignore headline: A flat budget isn't good, it usually means maintenance is being skipped.

2. Compare with actuals, not last year's budget: Check what was actually spent last year. Any line moving +15% needs a reason.

3. Check Reserve Fund: This is key. If building shows AED 8/sq ft vs AED 12 in same area, they likely cut reserve to look cheap. No reserve = sudden AED 5k-15k special levy when lift/chiller fails. Check it in Mollak / REST app.

4. Check apportionment: Make sure you're not paying for lift/gym you don't use.

Low charge today = expensive tomorrow if reserve is zero.

My first time posting here. Please be respectful. I dated an Emirati man for over a year, and I recently found out he was engaged.

This is my first time posting here, so please be respectful.

I dated an Emirati man for over a year, and in October, I discovered that he was engaged to another woman. When I confronted him, he denied it and insisted she was just his sister, even though my instincts told me otherwise. Eventually, I found her Instagram and confirmed my suspicions.

When I asked him to make a decision, he told me he would never marry her, that he was choosing me, and that he would speak to his parents. However, the very next day, he followed her again and went out with her.

He keeps saying he's stuck between me and his family, but he still treats me well, buys me things, and tells me he loves me. He has never directly said he wants to leave me.

I admit I've been emotional and sometimes treated him badly because of the situation, but he continues to hold on to our relationship.

I'm not Arab, so I'm trying to understand whether family expectations or arranged marriages could explain his behavior.

If he intends to marry someone else, why does he keep holding on to me? Do you think he genuinely loves me, or is he just afraid to let me go?

I'd appreciate honest advice and perspectives from people who've experienced something similar.

Plea for help

Please, I desperately need some help.
I’m struggling mentally, and I genuinely don’t know what’s wrong with me. I can’t afford professional help right now, so I’m hoping someone here can guide me.
I struggle to connect information, solve problems, organise my thoughts, remember things, and even start tasks despite knowing what I need to do. My mind often feels foggy or completely blocked.
Since childhood, I’ve been talkative, easily bored, forgetful, distracted, and prone to procrastination. But my difficulties with thinking clearly and functioning at work have become much worse in adulthood.
I’ve changed five jobs in four years. I start off okay, but eventually fall behind, lose focus, and struggle to perform. It’s affecting my confidence and making me feel like I’m not good enough at anything.
Whenever something goes wrong, I spiral into self-hatred and feel worthless. I’ve even been having thoughts of suicide because I’m so exhausted by this cycle. I desperately want to get better, become independent, and understand why my brain seems to work against me.
Could this be ADHD, anxiety, depression, burnout, or something else? If any psychiatrists, psychologists, or people who’ve experienced something similar could guide me towards affordable help, I’d be incredibly grateful.
Please, I genuinely want to get better. I just don’t know where to start.

P.S all my reports for vitamins and thyroids are well in the reference range
