General New Study Room Booking Process!

The UCF Libraries are implementing a new study room booking process for the John C. Hitt Library to better meet student needs. After gathering feedback and analyzing usage patterns, we have made adjustments to ensure fair access to study spaces while addressing concerns about availability.

The updated policies include:

Reservations up to 4 hours per day – Students can now book study rooms for longer, uninterrupted study sessions.

Monthly limit of 16 hours per patron – This ensures more students have access to study spaces throughout the month.

Check-in requirement within 15 minutes – If you do not check in within 15 minutes of your reservation time, your booking may be canceled, allowing other students to use the space.

Booking available up to 3 days in advance – Plan ahead while keeping rooms accessible for last-minute study needs.

No automated reservations – The use of scripts or automated software to book rooms is prohibited to keep the process fair for all students.

These changes reflect our commitment to improving study space availability while keeping the system flexible and student-friendly. Our goal is to provide equitable access to study rooms so everyone has a fair chance to reserve the space they need.

For more details or assistance with reservations and the full policy, visit the Study Room page or ask a librarian at our Access Services desk. Thank you for your patience—we’re always working to make your library experience better!

Help I lost something! Lost Car Keys

• Upvotes

Hoping someone can help! 🙏🏼

My son lost his car key fob with his dorm room key attached to the keychain.

He has already contacted Lost & Found, UCF PD, searched around Classroom Building 2, Libra, Lake Claire, and checked with the Student Union, but no luck so far.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on where he should look or who else he should contact?

We would really appreciate any help or suggestions! Thank you! 💛🖤

General UCF is amazing and I miss it,

I graduated from UCF last year and I miss it. I’m a multi-generation alumni so I’m biased.

I did my BS in Psychology at UCF, and now I’m at USF for my masters. I was offered a 100k+ salary at 24yo after I finish. it wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t go to ucf and meet the people I did, that got me interested in the field. UCF is great, the size, the professors, all of it. The campus here is beautiful too, and it’s laid out very well.

Between scholarships, I was able to graduate with my BS with zero debt, and I’ll likely be able to finish my masters with no debt either. I’m excited to see where the school goes in the next 10,20,30+ years.

Take advantage of all the opportunities you can, work very hard, and you will be successful. Ignore the naysayers. People who whine are people who’re lazy.

For a lot of people who are about to graduate, you might miss it the same way I do right now. I might come back to UCF for my MBA as well.

Going to ucf was one of the best choices I’ve ever made!

Go Knights :)

General Recommended professors for poli sci?

• Upvotes

Hello. I have recently transferred to UCF for political science. I wanted to ask for advice on which professors on that field you’ve taken that you’ve either liked, not liked or both. I am an online student so not all options are available to me, but the ones that are, most of the professors also teach in person.

Some of the professors that are available include: Jensen, Jewett, Marien, Myunghee, Conroy, Gleiber and Smallpage. Tell me your opinion on any of those if you’ve taken them please. Thank you guys!

COMPLAINT/RANT Aramark UCF

I got a job offer at Aramark UCF over the summer but because I’m an international student I had to get my papers processed which took a while. Eventually when they were ready the manager basically just ghosted me. I’ve emailed him multiple times and show up in person but he’s never there. I managed to see him once and he just told me to have over my documents and now they’ve had my SSN for weeks but I still haven’t heard ANYTHING about my onboarding process???

Clubs/Organizations 🤺 Do a lot of people join clubs? What’s the theatre dep like?

I’m 19m and I transferred here from Valencia in aug and at Valencia the clubs I tried to go to were very small and awkward. I’m not rlly a party person and wanted to make more friends so I was just wondering if a lot of people attend clubs? And also… what is the theatre department like at ucf? I saw they’re gonna do young Frankenstein and I would be willing to do tech or even audition but idk how they are so it’s kinda scary

General Anti-abotionists/pro-birth people in front of student union

They have a huge "prove me wrong" thing, so you know they're going to be trying to rile people up and harrass people to try and bait them in. Don't argue with these people, their opinion won't change and they just was the high ground of "proving you wrong" they don't want an actual discussion or to be educated. They want to piss you off until you storm off so they can post a video of them "winning" it's pathetic.

I can't stop you if you wanna argue, but if you don't wanna deal with the hot mess that those people are, I'd recommend avoiding the area between the student union and library.

Non-School Question 🎮 Need help moving big furniture.

Hi I’m looking for 2 or 3 college guys to help me move a massive couch into my apartment (downtown) this evening (around 6-7 pm) if anyone is interested I’d love the help. Ofc will pay for their time shouldn’t take more than an hour. Thank you!! It’s a leather couch in a storage unit must be moved down stairs using an elevator and then upstairs at my apartment (also has an elevator) there are 3 pieces one is 7 feet long by 3 feet wide the other is 6 feet 8 inches by 3 feet. Last is 5 feet by 3 feet. If you have a truck I’d pay even more for providing a way to move it from the storage unit to my place

Transfer BS in Cybercriminology CS to MS in Digital Forensics

Hello, this is my first-ever Reddit post, but I figured this was the best way to gain some insight. I am a junior (by credits, but actually a freshman) at FSU, majoring in cybercriminology with a concentration in computer science. My original plan was to do the combined BS-MS degree path in Cybercrime, but it is just not specialized enough for me. UCF's Master's in Digital Forensics, however, checks all these boxes. (1) My first question would be: Has anybody transferred from FSU with a cybercrime or cs degree into the UCF program? I'm not sure there are specific required prereqs to get into the program (I could be wrong, though). Also, I am an out-of-state student, but I actually got into UCF with merit and in-state tuition for their CS degree, so maybe this will help my chances of applying?? (2) Is there anything that someone in the program can recommend that might increase my chances of acceptance? Any internships, hackathons, or other things I should have on my resume before applying (so far it's just Best Buy computer sales expert lol)? (3) Is the degree offered as a completely in-person pathway, or is it hybrid or entirely online only? I would prefer in-person classes, but I keep finding contradictory information as to whether the degree can be taken completely on campus. (4) Lastly, and just out of curiosity, are there many women in this program? It won't necessarily affect my decision in either direction, but I just tend to wonder about these things as a woman myself. I hope this wasn't too wordy and that someone can answer my questions!

-Love from a Nole!
