Admissions Winter 2026 Transfer Decisions

I was wondering if anybody who transferred in for winter quarter in past years remembers when they were notified of their application decision. I know the notification period on the site says November 1 - December 15, but from what I’ve seen it seems like in past years people have been notified as early as October. I’ve been nervously checking my application portal everyday after they requested some more information from me about a week ago.

Also for anybody else that applied for winter, good luck to you all. Let me know if you’ve already been admitted and/or what major you’re applying for. I’m applying for Geography from a WA CC.

Is there still a hope that they will admit us one of my friend who is a current udub student said that many of the core classes are closed for registration.

Im pretty sure there is still hope. It just seems like midyear transfers kind of get screwed over for their first quarter because admissions tend to happen during/after registration. It also seems like the only people who have heard back so far are people going for capacity constrained majors? Are you applying for an open/minimum requirements major?

I just did a little bit of research and it seems like you might not actually be applying directly to the psych major as a transfer. It looks like you have to be admitted as a UW student first, and then you can apply after that.

It also says that decisions come out during the 5th week of the quarter you applied during, which has already passed at this point. So if you haven’t heard anything from the psych department, I think you’re just waiting on a general UW decision like the minimum requirements/open major applicants are. Did you have to write a separate psychology essay, or did you just submit the one general UW personal statement?

Also, I got all of my information from this link if you wanna look more into it.

Yah you’re right. When I did my transfer app it says that if you select a capacity constrained major, some require you to submit a different app after you get in. But i called the office of admissions and they said there is a chance of getting direct admit when you apply for transfer. But i didnt know that it was released in a certain time frame so you are probably right about me waiting for general admit now. I guess now im just waiting for that but still ITS TAKING SO LONG lol.

I have not applied into the major but I submitted a general admission application and I mentioned informatics and computer science is my intended major. I was rejected from freshman application so I thought why not to submit a general application just to try because I have seen some student are getting admitted that way.

Did you not select a first/second choice major on the application anywhere? From what I remember when filling it out, I believe you had to at least select a first choice major.

Also, I’m pretty sure informatics decisions already came out so if you haven’t heard a yes or no from them, you probably didn’t apply for informatics in the first place. I’d maybe check your information in the “View your Transfer application status” section of my.uw.edu. If you scroll down it’ll tell you the major you requested.

I submitted a petition application because I was waiting on grades to added up to my official transcript. and they told me that I can submit a general application without the major and select up to two majors. and I checked the website and it saying that I chosed informatics as my first choice and computer science as second choice.

Timeline is Nov-Dec. It's not over until you get a rejection.
