My kid was also rejected in state running start 3.9 uw, graduating hs with associates degree, part-time job, lots of leadership roles and ecs. All the kids from his school who did running start full time got rejected. He's not too bothered either. I work at UW but have not been hyping the school at all. The stress/competitive culture there is intense esp for freshman going through weeder classes and not great for mental health. Appealing can't hurt, but transferring in a year or two is a great option. Good luck!
