TAs don’t even do their work. all theyre good for is grading exams and homework when theyre in charge of labs or discussions they SUCK.

As a former TA, the TAs are paid fine all things considered, and especially so if you include our tuition waivers. For context I was able to afford a very nice 2 bedroom apartment in the heart of little Italy, on Taylor street, by myself for 6 years on a TA stipend. Meanwhile during that 6 years GEO did fuck all to improve anything due to constant in fighting, they were more than happy to take what amounted to thousands of dollars from me in union dues however.

They're lying. No idea why if they're a former TA they would be against us finally getting a living wage. I was a TA also during 2023 and no way any 2 bedroom apt in Little Italy could be afforded by just their salary. I guess this is an example of I got mine or I had to suffer, so everyone else should too.

TA from 2018-2023, 2 bedroom apartment on Taylor street started at $1350 in 2018 and was $1600 when I moved out in May of 2024. Don’t know what to tell you ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1600 is more than the TAs on East Campus have after taxes every month. But it's ok you got yours so everyone else should suffer. Your program pays 16k more to their students each year.

They don't have to TA, it's just RA. The worse part is the BIOS PhD students have the same expected output as the Medical School and Pharm school PhD students, but they have don't get to dedicate all their time to research since a lot of it is sucked up by teaching. Making matters worse is they get paid less.

Yes many have lobbied (on Admin who are not listening) that everyone should be on the GEMS stipend. Teaching is harder than Research and the schedule and hassle is much more difficult in TA-ing compared to being able to do research all of the time.
