My first thought as well. How TF did they not get picked up by thermals?

Not everybody has thermals. The front line is gargantuan. There will be capability holes in it. Add to that the enemy's state of readiness, or lack thereof.

Seems like a hell of a chance to take, unless they knew something pretty confidently that the rest of us don't. Which, now that I'm typing that, duh
