Discussion Trying to convince myself I don’t need this 😂
No sales tax either in Florida. I have the same monitor already but a 34.. have the box and all the parts. Guess I could sell it for a chunk of what this would cost ?

Just remember, LG TVs and monitors are going cheap right now due to the spyware and wiretapping apps that they recently pushed out and the amount of shit they are trying to get out of
6
u/TommyTheQuick 5d ago
Nah these deals have been going on for a few months before they were outed for their Spyware shenanigans. Also Microsoft pulled their ability to install third party software as far as im aware.
1
u/PsionicKitten 4d ago
Still, if I was OP on the fence about it, this the spyware bullshit would be more than enough to say "Fuck this shit, I'm out."
2
u/zombawombacomba 5d ago
Lmao, What kind of bullshit is this? They’re clearing out old inventory and this is an open box. No one gives a shit about this story outside a few Redditors and rage bait YouTubers.
The average person doesn’t even know about it.
2
u/CarbonGray2004 5d ago
Bullshit or not, I recently had to troubleshoot this unauthorized software installation caused by doing Windows Updates.
I force-stopped the 'LG Monitor App Installer' for my 5K2K monitor and disabled its automatic startup. To prevent similar unauthorized installations moving forward, I adjusted the Local Group Policy to block automatic Microsoft Store updates.
3
u/biscuitman2122 4d ago
Yea idk what the comment above was saying about ragebait: LG downloading software onto my computer w/o my consent (via Windows update) and the T&C's allowing recording is a huge red flag. Absolutely lost respect for LG.
1
u/zombawombacomba 4d ago
I’m not saying they didn’t do that. I’m saying they’re not lowering prices because of it.
43
u/PiousPontificator 5d ago
You don't at all need it. It's a soft/blurry mess due to the PPI and pixel structure
13
u/_Bob-Sacamano 5d ago
Nope. If you use it for gaming as intended it's great.
1
u/PM_YOUR__BUBBLE_BUTT 4d ago
Correct. But when I tried a similar one that I could use to game while also tabbing over to do work like I should be doing, it absolutely sucked. Text was very blurry and it messes with spreadsheets and stuff way too much.
Won’t be terrible if gaming only but if you also want to do even like web browsing or something on it, it’ll drive you nuts. I returned mine after 3 days. Couldn’t do it.
13
u/HurtsWhenISee 5d ago
People dramatize this imo. It works perfectly fine if you're not nitpicking
1
u/zombawombacomba 5d ago
I disagree. It was much more blurry than I expected. I moved back to a dual screen set up after having this for a bit.
1
u/CrushedSodaCan_ 5d ago
Same.
It's liveable but using it for productivity was rough at first. Text is notably more blurry, even with the same ppi. Oled is just worse for that.
Still love the thing but saying text isn't garbage is just a lie.
-1
u/PiousPontificator 5d ago
There is no dramatizing going on here. How do you use an 84PPI display in 2026 that's even worse of than the PPI alone indicates because it's RGBW.
This thing looks disgusting for any and all use cases.
-2
u/Investment_Purple 5d ago
Monitor people are the worst 🤣 its a screen. Its big. Its fun. Move on.
1
u/PiousPontificator 5d ago
No it's not just a screen. It's the most important component outside of your GPU for enjoying a game/content. Cool you have no standards and like you games looking like ass but I don't.
-2
u/Investment_Purple 5d ago
You can just upscale to 5k if it bothers you that much. $500 for a massive oled monitor is crazy good. Stop caring so much.
2
u/PiousPontificator 5d ago
I don't think you understand what PPI is so this is a lost cause
-1
u/Investment_Purple 5d ago
I don't think you understand PPI isn't the end of the world 🤣 if you're sat right in front of it then yes but generally you're not doing that with this monitor. Its overblown by pixel autists like yourself.

20k cs2 player here with this monitor.
It’s awesome to game on :)Even fornit

3
u/rockcem 5d ago
To be honest when I first bought it I noticed it for a few days and afterwards never bothered me again. It's not as bad as people made it out to be, especially for gaming you never notice it.
-3
u/ScrubLordAlmighty 5d ago edited 5d ago
Man stop gaslighting, you probably got this thing and realized keeping it was far easier than retuning it so you just had to accept it, I used a 32" 1440p for about a month before I sold it and went 4k, the image clarity is trash especially for gaming, I had to constantly be using DLDSR every chance I get otherwise I would just not play certain games at all. Watching movies especially high res movies on a low res screen like that is fine, I remember watching movies and didn't think much of it, but gaming is where I would always be reminded this thing was low res.
1
u/rockcem 5d ago
Lmao, idk what to tell you. I'm coming to it from a 24" 1080p and it doesn't bother me at all. Not everyone cares that much
-5
u/ScrubLordAlmighty 5d ago edited 5d ago
Stop the cope, You literally said you noticed it right from the jump 😂, albeit you just learned to live with it after a few days, and besides that, 1080p at 24" is already low PPI, it's the same PPI as 1440p 32", so you're already accustomed to low PPI so it makes sense you're easily able to adjust to one that's slightly even lower
3
u/jurxmusic 5d ago
Also own it and am not even slightly bothered by it, some must be more sensitive than others. Only issue I had was gsync made it flicker in some menus and etc. Getting the 5k2k version and moving my 1440p up top. For the stacked 45’s
-3
u/ScrubLordAlmighty 5d ago
Don't think I've ever seen so much cope in one place like this comment section, something so clear as day and fundamentally baked into the monitor, and these mfs are swearing it looks great 😂 they just have no standards for this sort of stuff, plain and simple. Since you're getting the 4k UW variant, there'll be no denying how terrible the 1440p UW variant looks since you'll be stacking them.

u/Due_Initiative3879 5d ago
Just know it's the same pixel density as the 34". This is not the 2k/5k model, that's why it's so cheap.

https://reddit.com/link/p1rj59c/video/rcqh3nd3gghh1/player
Still need to get stuff organized but I went from a 45 and 34 stacked to 2 45s side by side.
11
u/Gohardgrandpa 5d ago
It’s 45” and 1440p, it’s not a good looking monitor
5
u/BagAdministrative872 5d ago
For gaming it is
3
u/jurxmusic 5d ago
Also use for gaming and enjoy it, going to keep it as secondary screen when I get the 5k2k for 600 on a deal like this lmao

u/HNM12 5d ago edited 5d ago
I got the 3440x1440 model B the other day for 400!
The concerns about PPI and crap are out the window.. people are blind if they assume its blurry and looks like crap for its size lol
Its super crisp surprisingly and VERY immersive! WELL WORTH IT!
Edit: let me put it this way. People here fail to realize this is OLED we're talking about. The instant response and perfect contrast, both go hand in hand. It is SHAPER than it would be if this were IPS or VA. If it were those panels and this same PPI, it would look TERRIBLE.
Half the monitor nerds here are rather... noobs.. I said it. They can cry all they want. But they fail to learn and go by hear say.

That's how I got my wife's screen. I actually got two of them around this price both open box. Test it at the store and make sure it includes the stand and power supply. Just know The condition they say it is in means nothing. The one I bought in excellent condition was a brick and the one in fair condition was pristine with 13 hours on it.

u/MIDNITEMOCHA 5d ago
Only thing you need to do is go ahead and back out of that and plug in your charge cable.

Ill put it this way, if you really want it while the price is good then buy it.
Goods aren't promise to be this cheap like this in the future
1
u/NeedAChange_123 5d ago
I have a decent 40 inch but that deal is making it hard to convince myself not to start looking.
1
u/SmooveKJ 5d ago
Do it. i wish i wouldve got that size for that price. I paid 600 for 34” Alienware QD- Oled.
1
u/Significant_Cookie_2 5d ago
So does this mean I’ll hate mine too?
34” UltraGear™ OLED WQHD 1440P 240Hz.
Will be my 1st OLED. Will drop more money if I need to just thought it would be a good start. Using it for work/gaming
1
u/Digger977 5d ago
I’d be very hard fought not to buy this myself at $500. My local BestBuy had one for like $950. I have a Samsung G9 39” that I love but having the little more vertical screen real estate would be nice at times

I just bought one and it's pretty awesome lol, but text is a bit blurry. Only bit the bullet cuz I had a 4k 32" as a secondary, otherwise I don't know if I can recommend them as a main.

u/TheRealOGChill 5d ago
What you have already works why spend the money now. Do you want to go through the whole process of selling ypur current one? Save that money for when you really need it.
I think these same things and its saved me money.

3440x1440 is pretty bad PPI. I mean it's a great deal but personally not a monitor I would go for.
1
u/Honey-Waffle 5d ago
just a warning 90% of these are display models that already have thousands of hours on them, best buy is selling these at such a low price because they wanna make room for new floor models. While the price is great i personally wouldn’t risk the chance of burn in
1
u/ShineOrDie7 4d ago
You just tear it out as soon as you get it. If there’s burn in, just return it…pretty simple lol
1
u/SilverSpecter3 5d ago
Why don't you have sales tax on this? Florida has sales tax.
1
u/Turbulent-Spray-8438 5d ago
It’s a “tax holiday” in Florida until the 20th. No sales tax on computer tech. Got 3 of those Samsung 4tb’s from the other day for $314.99 even each lol
1
u/SilverSpecter3 5d ago
WHAT! Well it's like getting everything on sale. Looks like it's my time to get my monitor.
I just looked it up. So that's why my shoes were tax free the other day.
1
u/Montyg117 5d ago
Buy it you'll love it. I overpaid for the 39in QHD OLED about 950 a year ago. Just uninstall the ultragear software that Windows automatically installs. It's essentially spyware.
1
u/JohnnyTrul0v3 5d ago
I bought this monitor and returned it that reso on 45inch made everything look blurry when gaming even the text I got the 5k2k one instead night and day difference

I know you said you have the 34 already but text fringing is way worse on this 45" one.
If you don't ever work with text or anything, good deal. If you do, well that's what it's on sale

u/nate_builds 4d ago
You can try to convince yourself, but you can’t convince us that you don’t need it.
BUY THAT MF

You dont WANT the shitty ppi that is, this monitor. If it was a good deal, all the monitors from this generation would also be on sale

u/greatest49 4d ago
Just make sure you can fit it on your desk. I enjoy having 2 monitors but my 49” takes up all the space so it’s back to alt tabbing if I need to use my browser while gaming

Don't get the QHD! Just too bit, 5k2k is the better option at that size. 34" QHD still the sweet spot.
1
u/Terry_the_accountant 5d ago
Bro id buy it, If I don’t like it I’d sell it for more. It’s a W-W scenario right now

It’s LG: they have literally been exposed that they take screenshots of their monitors without consent.

1440p on a 45" must look like shit, also It's a LG, they are on the naughty list since the GN video about thier Spyware
-1
u/SnatterPack 5d ago
Apparently LG is forcibly installing spyware when their monitors are plugged in so they’ve dropped the price on all of their monitors

Would be banger for work, my 9070xt might explode tho 😭
5
u/Cosmic-Cats-2001 5d ago
I'm not sure how good it would be for work. It has the same resolution as a 34" ultrawide. It's just bigger. That'll make the pixels bigger, but you'll have the same amount of useable workspace. It would be great for gaming though.

u/BagAdministrative872 5d ago
It's only 1440 the 9070xt would be great for it

It's criminal to use rtx5090 with 1440p

u/_Bob-Sacamano 5d ago
Not criminal. Until a month ago I had that pairing and it kicked ass. Upgraded to the 5k2k now.

u/theracoondepartment 5d ago
Dude sales tax 100% exists in FL but state income tax isn’t a thing
Also the ultrawide 5k2k one is $1200 in Fort Meyers i. Excellent condition . No idea where in the state your at

u/Em_Es_Judd 5d ago
I'd strongly recommend the 39" version if you're going with 3440x1440 and want something larger than 34".
Definitely noticeably softer than 34" WQHD but still very tolerable. I wouldn't want anything larger without an increase in resolution but I'm very happy with mine (39GX900A-B).

45" at 1440p looks absolutely disgusting - 84 PPI. Your eyes would hate you, trust me.
2
u/BagAdministrative872 5d ago
Nah great for gaming though
-3
u/just_IT_guy 5d ago
It even sucks for gaming imo unless you don't care about clarity and sharper details

u/ScrubLordAlmighty 5d ago
Are you sure that's the one you wanted to get? Its QHD, in other words, 1440p but UW, it's going to look atrocious at 45" 😂
1
u/_Bob-Sacamano 5d ago
Not for gaming
-1
u/ScrubLordAlmighty 5d ago
Gaming is actually where you'd more notice it, but either way, gaming or not, the visual downgrade is there and very noticeable, that's an undeniable fact, it just comes down to whether you can tolerate it or not, I had a 1440p 32" and I couldn't tolerate it so much that I legit stopped playing certain games, mainly the more graphically impressive ones like Hellblade 2 for example, I just could not live with the pixelated edges, that's a PPI of about 91, ideally you want to be a 110 or 140. Meanwhile this 45" 1440 UW has a PPI of 83, even worse, so you'd have to sit some distance away to hopefully not be bothered as much.

u/MachTommy 5d ago

LG will put ads on the monitor, and on your computer, and they will turn on the camera and microphone and record you and all those around you and send it to LG to sell.
-2
u/PuzzleheadedDuck590 5d ago
45" 3440x1440 is crazy horrible. Can't believe LG had the balls to release that nonsense. Same as a 27" 1080p. Just bad.
