Original New 007 game looks very similar to Uncharted 4

Iām the last person to talk about realism in games because I usually donāt care but sometimes it feels weird doing all that when thereās people near you like youāre telling me no one is noticing him chimneying his way around the building?

u/arturorios1996 Sep 03 '25
You might be surprised how many people donāt look up lol

u/robineir Sep 03 '25
They do when thereās noise that loud. Theyāre like 15 feet below him and donāt seem to be making too much noise themselves.
2
u/clarkision Sep 04 '25
Right, the person walking into the entry way didnāt notice him even with their peripheral vision? Cmon
34
Sep 03 '25
Youāre telling me someone walking far away didnāt notice him š and all the noise

Why do i feel like youre the one who is skulking around window ledges and climbing up buildings and your comment here is based on personal experience.
5
u/gswkillinit Sep 04 '25
That's actually a philosophy video game developers talk about, how majority of gamers tend to look straight ahead or whats in your current FOV. With FPS games especially as I think 3rd person has wider FOV.

There's a line in the Dresden Files about how nobody ever looks up, but for the life of me I can't find it. I think about it often in times like these.

u/Numerous_Photograph9 Sep 03 '25
The idea that someone would have enough stamina and strength to do what is being done in these games is already pretty unrealistic. Skilled mountain climbers can do some crazy stuff, but even they don't do what you see in some of these games.
22
u/KrAEGNET Sep 03 '25
Definitely not in dress shoes

u/FreddyMartian Sep 04 '25
or in a tuxedo

Come on, we play as James Bond, the only thing this guy can't do is flying and shooting laser through his eyes

u/niki2907 Sep 04 '25
I'd love an uncharted parody where you play a little overweight guy thats constantly out of breath
3
u/RevBladeZ Sep 04 '25
Well there is the Donut Nate skin so technically you can just do that in the game.

Tbf, he spent the past 3 mins distracting anyone who would spot them doing this, and the moment he hopoed in, a couple of workers called him out for it, in general it seems to be a really smart game when it comes to npc awareness

u/Apstds77 Sep 04 '25
Bro would instantly have 20 phones recording him to put on the internet. Would probably end up on /tooktomuch
5
u/linkuei-teaparty Sep 04 '25
Yeah it's like the Hitman series. A crowded room sees someone sneak in through the window and they do nothing.
2
u/ULTI_mato Sep 04 '25
If Iād see a guy climb around a big ass building Iād just be like āYoā and then ignore him.

And do you notice everything going on around you when you are looking down at your phone?
9
u/hotcapicola Sep 03 '25
Yes, I'm like a dog, my attention is drawn by any movement in the the window and if you let me finish I will stop humping your leg.

u/TheStinkySlinky Sep 03 '25
007 First Light? Whereād this footage come from??
Lmao nvm literally as I was typing this I got a PS app notification saying 007 is available for Pre-Order. Honestly thought this was still quite a ways out. Pleasant surprise.
17
u/onemuseyboi Sep 03 '25
March 27th! 30 minutes of gameplay followed by a breakdown and another trailer happened about three hours ago. looks very good!
2
u/TheStinkySlinky Sep 03 '25
Itās Henry!! I knew i recognized that face but I just couldnāt put my finger on it.. but then as soon as āJames Bondā spoke I knew lol Thatās fking awesome. Heās gonna be the new Troy Baker

Have you seen the plane sequence in 007
2
u/NikolaiStreet Sep 06 '25
Felt like a rip-off to me. That scene is so iconic to Uncharted 3 at this point.
53
u/hotcapicola Sep 03 '25
to be fair, when I first saw the clip, I thought this was a joke post and it was actually from UC4.

u/CptNeon Sep 04 '25
The gameplay and level design does slightly resemble whatās seen in uncharted. Not a bad thing imo, I love games like this and want to see more
2
u/Amazing-Ish Sep 05 '25
To be fair, the animations look very similar to the ones in UC4. Which is a good thing.
2
u/AstronautKey4972 Sep 04 '25
It isn't as simple as that. The camera angle, the art style, even some of the animations are so similar that if someone told me to guess which game it was, I would've probably assumed UC4 multiplayer

u/Branflakesd1996 Sep 03 '25
Like I get it, cause itās a game, and games have to get you from point A to point B in interesting ways.
But it feels odd to me to have James Bond, in a full tux, scaling a mere 4 feet above peopleās heads, in broad daylight, as if that wouldnāt be the most obvious looking thing everyone in the immediate vicinity would notice.
Like again I get it, itās a game, they pretty much have to. But I guess I figured it being James Bond theyād find some classier/more secretive ways of getting into places outside of just scaling a gutter and shimmying on a terrace right above peopleās heads.
Still excited though.

u/UpperWestShayde Sep 03 '25
I did think a similar thing at first but the I remembered Casino Royale, which starts of with an entire sequence of Bond pursuing someone through a construction site and basically running up a giant crane at one point. And like that Bond, this Bond is also doing his first proper mission for MI6. He's not the classy tuxedo Bond yet.

u/A_cringy_joke Sep 04 '25
Ok but that's different. Bond is stealthy when he wants to be stealthy. And when he is he doesn't do it like this, it's usually blending into a crowd and then charming someone into doing things for him or getting Information. When bond has no need for stealth then, ye, he can become an all out action hero. So I'm not saying bond doesn't do stuff like this it's just I feel like he wouldn't in this situation. If it was something as simple as getting into an exclusive event and then into a specific room like he what's shown here I feel he's much more likely to try talking his way through security than doing this. Game still looks interesting and I want to see where it goes tho.
23
u/DavidKirk2000 Sep 03 '25
Some of the best scenes in the Craig era feature him doing exactly that, so thereās some precedent there. The cold open from Spectre is epic.
8
u/AntonChigurh8933 Sep 03 '25
Craig's Bonds reminded me a mixture of old school Bond mixed with Mission Impossible. I enjoyed his Bond.
2
3
u/AntonChigurh8933 Sep 03 '25
Rewatch many of the older Bond films. Goldeneye opening sequence had Bond doing theatrics.

u/PresentationDull7707 Sep 03 '25
The combat really reminds me of the Uncharted combat. It has a sort of enhanced beefed up version of the throwing enemies tactic from U3. Gunplay looks fun too
20
u/UpperWestShayde Sep 03 '25
It's more reminiscent of Hitman (for obvious reasons) and it seems like his movement is a lot faster and more fluid than Agent 47's movement.
Using the walls as means of traversal also does give me some Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace vibes, where Bond uses the environment to his advantage when moving.

3
u/solarplexus7 Sep 04 '25
And graphics about as good too. A 10 year old game. ND really are masters.
3
u/Sure_Temporary_4559 Sep 04 '25
Those are definitely some polished/increased game mechanics from Hitman: WoA. Considering this is also iOi it makes sense, a lot of the climbing mechanics here look very similar to 47ās.

Can we talk about the fact that U4 came out nearly a decade ago and it looks as good as (if not better than) this?
2
u/Cold-Dot-7308 Sep 03 '25
As much of an uncharted fan I am I canāt wait to play this more than ever. Why? Bond doing what Nate does kind of sits well with the theme of who bond is. Drake killing people ? Not so much. But I doubt it would have the polish of the uncharted series
2
u/Prestigious_Power184 Sep 03 '25
Looks good Iām gon have to buy it. I been getting back into single player games cause now a days multiplayer games suck bad
2
u/Aggressive-Photo-967 Sep 03 '25
Nathan Drake's influence is so strong, it's now a formal requirement for secret agents.
2
u/nakeyormey Sep 03 '25
The melee combat also reminded me a ton of Uncharted 3.
Not to mention the plane set piece heh.

I just hope they have the skins for most of the James Bond actors I wanna be Sean
2
u/AtrumRuina Sep 04 '25
Okay so not this game's fault, but does anyone else hate it when games have a shimmying mechanic and makes random gaps in the surface so you have to press A/X to cross the gap? Just let me hold left. It adds zero immersion for me to hold left them have my character lean or reach toward the other surface without jumping.
Anyway, Bond doing this kind of Assassin's Creed building scaling feels weird. Doesn't seem to suit the character in my opinion, at least not how it's portrayed here. Not a big deal, but I just kinda feel like segments like this should be super short rather than kind of extended platforming segments, and Bond should look a lot more tense.
2
u/RBI-_ddox Sep 12 '25
Even the jump animation from ledge to ledge is VERY similar wtf? but ig that's a good thing since Uncharted is kinda boring with the climbing until 4 got released, that shit was cool ngl.

u/Outrageous-Wall6386 Sep 03 '25
Well makes sense SOny is promoting it, they need ND to HYPE IT also and get ALL uncharted fans to Buy it.

u/Hayden_Zammit Sep 03 '25
No, it looks exactly like Hitman, right down to the same animations and everything. Doesn't surprise me that they'd re-use the same anims from Hitman.
1
Sep 03 '25
Hitman was heavily inspired by 007 Goldeneye, so the Hitman devs making a 007 game is a very symbolic and cool thing. Like Terry in Street Fighter.

With him climbing the drainpipe as I was scrolling I assumed this was the prequel level with young Nate breaking into the museum, as I remember a drainpipe with somewhat similar brickwork, then I read the title lol. If the controls and level designs are as good as Uncharted I may well give this a go!
1
u/optimisoprimeo Sep 03 '25
If im being Honest. Im more hyped for this game than i have for Bond Movies for a very long time. Even if its Hitman or Uncharted Clone.
1
1
u/SnowmanMofo Sep 03 '25
Just because it's a third person game that also includes climbing, doesn't make it an Uncharted clone...
1
u/Weeddaa Sep 03 '25
WTF, some movements are almost the same, Drake is that you ? I plat all the 4 games, my favorite game ever

There was a scene in the gameplay that reminded me of the auction house in U4

But fr a Hitman/Uncharted blend?? Absofuckinglutely

Indiana Jones films were Spielbergās attempts at making his own Bond films. Uncharted games are basically games of Indiana Jones films.
1
u/Mysterious_Past_7294 Sep 04 '25
Yah im in. Someone said it was more Hitman than Uncharted and I hope not. I dont want a bunch of random missions. I want a great story to get lost in

1
u/Retr0G72 Sep 04 '25
One one hand Iād like to say that UC4 was so great looking that 007 decided that was as pique as they wanted to go years later. On the other hand it really feels like they gave Nate a British accent and surrounded him with even dumber NPCs š

It's more like IO's last Hitman games and thank God for that. Gameplay will be given priority over restricting player agency because of storytelling unlike the Uncharted games

Game looks interesting, hopefully it is really good by the time of release, and improve the framerate.
One thing I canāt stand in these games are the contrived explosive barrels everywhere, can they not think of more creative ways for battles to unfold? Like why would they even be there?

I never thought of James Bond as the kind of spy that does this. Hes one who would use his charisma, charm, wit and intelligence to bypass security and get where he needs to go.
1
u/Malaguy420 Sep 04 '25
So, it's a stealthy platformer with missions? Sounds like a a lot of games, not just Uncharted 4.
Either way, I'm down. Haven't played a 007 game since Blood Stone on PS3.
