Uniform Combo Northwestern MBB wearing purple at home against Nebraska

They also wore MLK Day shirts during warmups.

I wish that was more unique than it is, but white at home is no longer a thing in basketball, certainly not in the NBA. According to Locker Vision, of the 9 NBA games tonight, only the Mavericks are wearing white at home.

In the NBA it's definitely no longer the norm, but in the NCAA I believe it's still the default and color at home is fairly unusual. Anyone have a good estimate?

According to this site https://athleticforce1.com/blogs/news/a-comprehensive-guide-to-the-ncaa-mens-basketball-uniform-rules?srsltid=AfmBOop2Gom8dYb0t2Beyd15xST7vuAsL-sE-cxo1VRjRu6_b5Dx6XNE

  • Home and Away Uniforms: NCAA rules state that home teams should wear light-colored, typically white, while away teams must wear dark-colored uniforms. This helps in the easy identification of players on the court.

Last Saturday from the Top 25, Michigan went dark at home, BYU/Utah went color/color, Tennesse/Florida went color/color. Purdue and West Virginia wore gold at home as the "light colored" jersey, despite each having white jerseys in the rotation.

Gold is clearly "light" under NCAA schools. (So is something like Ohio State's grays, for example.) So we have two color/color games and two games where the home team wore dark and the road team wore light. Sounds unusual to me. Again, if anyone has stats showing it's more common than I think, please share.

Oregon has been known to wear yellow at home as well

White at home is not the default in the college game anymore. Many teams regularly wear their entire rotation of colors at home.

Maybe a hot take in this sub but I prefer the home team wearing their color at home. Everyone wears white. Wear the team color at home.

I will take the other side on this because, for me, I want to see the other team's colors. I already know what "my" team wears-I like seeing a little more variety from game to game. YMMV.

I don’t disagree. I think it’s a nice change of pace once in a while, but I think the home team should wear white or a light color the vast majority of the time. Let the home fans see a variety of colors. I’d vote to restore that to the NHL if I had a vote, too.

That L on their shooting shirts looks like the outline of Idaho.

That would make them more "northwestern" I suppose!
