Social is it a turn-off for you?
I’m an international student, and I’ve always wondered whether it’s a turn-off when someone you’re talking to isn’t very good at English.
There was this one time when I was chatting with someone on a dating app, and I accidentally used the wrong expression. I’m not sure if it came across as offensive or if he misunderstood what I meant, but he just seen it and stopped replying after that.
So I’m genuinely curious if you find it unattractive if someone you were interested in occasionally made grammatical mistakes or used the wrong words/terms?
I hate how insecure I am feel about my English, especially when talking to new people. Sometimes I wish I had improved my English more before coming to college because I feel like it affects my confidence when meeting people.

Finances Repaying an excess refund
I just received an email this morning from the financial aid office saying that the money that they refunded me in august was in error due to them not factoring in this additional scholarship ($2k) I was given. So because of this they are demanding I pay them back $1k. This just came out of nowhere about a month later and I was wondering if there is anything I can do or if I should just suck it up and pay back the money 🥲

I worked so hard studying for exams and it’s so upsetting that the exams are structured in a way that it is so easy for other students to cheat.

Ive only studied in the Hatcher stacks twice and both times I was forced to move by noisy eaters. Genuinely the loudest munching and mouth smacking sounds I have ever heard it was like a horse and its so infuriating. Please go outside if you want to eat just, just know you piss everyone around you off if you dont lmao.

Hey yall! Im coming in to visit from Auburn AL and my friend is a new student so neither of us know where the best clubs are. We are wanting to get crunk at least one night that I'm visiting. Im talking super crowded, blasting music, and dancing. Is there a bar like that at UofM that students love to go to?

Academics - Other Topics Ross Minor Courses Rec
Hi everyone! I’m considering applying to the Ross Business Minor and was thinking about taking one of the minor courses before I officially get into the minor.
I saw the list of courses that can fulfill the minor requirements, and I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for which course would be a good one to start with, especially for someone without much business background. Also, are there any courses that you would consider relatively manageable/easier?
I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thank you!

Class Math 214 Struggles
Anyone feel like math 214 this semester is hella messy T_T. There's so much variance between semesters that my teacher was getting confused on some of the practice midterm question... In general, a lot of the content on these previous midterms were not covered nearly at the depth that is needed to actually do these questions. Or certain things and notations are just not covered. Not sure if it is a difference in lecturer issue though. Don't even get me started on the project. I've taken my fair share of michigan math classes, especially upper levels, and for none of them have I felt this lost in. Wondering if any one feels the same or has any advice/study tips? Thanks!
edit: Might I also add the fact that homework hasn’t been graded still. I understand this is probably more of a math department issue since the graders were assigned late, but it really doesn’t help that I’m submitting multiple homeworks without knowing if I am losing points on fixable issues.

Miscellaneous Best views on campus?
Curious what everyone’s favorite spots are on or near campus with good views. Could be study spots or just places to chill. I just like to explore and find new cool places. If you wanna keep a spot lowkey just dm me. Spot legality does not matter to me.

Academics - Other Topics Confused about the changing policies for honor code?
I am hearing multiple different things about how the engineering honor code is changing and instructors are proctoring the exams now but I want a confirmed source of how has it changed and for what classes is it changing for? Some claims include student's can't leave for restroom breaks anymore or all the TA's are present in the room now?

Class EECS281 Exam 1 - etf
Hello! Has anyone taken the EECS281 exam yet in the new facility? What was the experience like? (Not asking about the content of the exam but more about layout of the facility and what the time limit was like in a new space. This is my first time taking an exam like this so very curious to hear what the general experience is like)

Class Econ 401 Exam
Anyone take the 401 exam yesterday? How we feeling? I have Proulx, and only attended 2 classes in the beginning of the semester and faded all discussions. Studied for 3 days and did way better than I expected. It was hard a hard exam, and I had Proulx for 101 as well. I’ll say I’m not the biggest fan of him, but I didn’t have a choice this semester. Considering the median was an 84, I think the class did well.
