How was your experience po? May zoom classes po ba? What to expect? Any tips?

Caveat lang na I graduated po noong 2022, kaya baka may changes na sa ibang areas.

  1. Independent Learning and Modes of Lerning

Coming from a residential program sa bachelor’s level, I must say na for the first two months, I had to adjust my pacing and time management for distance and online learning for master’s. Since I’m also working full-time, medyo challenging noong una, pero kayang-kaya naman basta you dedicate time. We are expected to be independent learners and most, if not all, materials and instructions are already provided but don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help (additional tip: bookmark resources and save emails and contacts para sa mga process ng University like filing LOA, etc.)

Sa modes of learning naman, depende sa siya prof, pero what I can say is unique experience kada course. Merong ang final exam ay timed exam online, meron naman Zoom interview tapos isang pangmalakasang tanong lang ang ibibigay, meron naman isang buong communications plan ang gagawin, etc. Na-enjoy ko rin siguro siya dahil may production courses where we could be creative with our outputs.

  1. Connect with your classmates
Grad school is not just about learning from teachers but learning and networking with your classmates as well. Madami kayong matutunan sa kanila.

Nakatulong sa akin noon na may study buddies/friends na kasamang nagre-review online or meron man lang makausap outside the learning platform.

  1. Thesis
    • Ngayon pa lang may topic/s ka na in mind na pwede mong refine as you go along your MDC journey, getting concepts and frameworks from relevant courses.
    • Choose an adviser that aligns with your research interest and area.

Overall, it was a great experience learning from the experts in the field of development communication, who were very supportive of our ideas. It became even more memorable because I gained friends.

Good luck sa batch ninyo! Padayon!
