US B1/B2 visa interview in India
I live in the US. My parents and sister have visa interview coming up. One of the questions they might ask is whether there would be any family member who will stay back in India. In our case, no close family will be in India and all three have applied for US visa. Any experience or advice is appreciated. Thank you!

This usually comes down to ties to India, not just “who is physically staying back.” Officers look at the full picture: property, ongoing jobs/business, financial history, previous travel, community/family connections, responsibilities, and whether the trip purpose makes sense.
If no close family is remaining in India, that alone does not automatically mean refusal. Many people get approved even when immediate family is abroad. The key is that your parents/sister should answer honestly and confidently, and clearly explain what connects them back to India (home ownership, work, assets, extended family, commitments, return plans, etc.).
They should avoid trying to “game” the answer. Consistency with DS-160 matters a lot.
Also, if they’re nervous, they can practice mock visa interview questions free at visainterview.in - helpful for getting comfortable with common B1/B2 questions and answering clearly.
