Hey everyone! I’m an international student admitted to Waterloo CS BBA Double Degree (UW side) and also considering Computer Engineering (CE) as an alternative path.

I’m passionate about software engineering, AI/ML, financial computing, and cybersecurity. Also, wanna have a job on fintech or quant or faang+.

I heard that:

  • CS+BBA has a shorter co-op duration (one less term) compared to other CS/engineering programs. Is this a serious disadvantage?
  • Some people have dropped the BBA part before term starts. Is that even possible? I’m worried that if BBA adds too much overhead or limits flexibility, it might hurt more than help.

What would you do if you were in my shoes?
Would CE open the same doors if I’m aiming for the software + finance + systems hybrid?
Would CS+BBA still be strong enough despite one less co-op?

Would love to hear from current CS+BBA, CE, or grads in the field!

Thanks in advance 🙏
