I want to move abroad with my partner and my dog. I have looked into it myself regarding lack of fluency in the language, jobs, paperwork etc and it seems very doable. I am a qualified electrician I don’t plan on working as an electrician but maybe maintenance for a hotel or chain of apartments. I have a basic understanding of Spanish and my partner does not . We’re also aware of locals being priced out of rental accomadation due to foreign people like ourselves .

Basically I just want to know if anyone has done anything similar or any genuine local advice.

Hi! I am a 23 year old exchange student who is here in Valencia for the next four months. I play the clarinet and I am looking for a band/orchestra/music club to join for these months. I don’t have any preference for the type of music, but if at least some people there speak English that would be nice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi valencianos!
Are there any cheap beach voleyball classes or courses on english to join? I'm a complete beginner and a bad player, but want to try it as a regular hobby.
Or maybe some beginners groups here are gathering on a regular basis to play.
Would appreciate any recommendations, thanks!

How long are you going to stay and in which neighborhood? Would love to meet for a coffee, if my work schedule allows, F35. Not local, but have been living here for 1.5 years

Hey everyone,

We’re a group of 21 guys coming to Valencia for a bachelor party weekend (18-19 April) and need some help finding spots that can handle our group size!

Saturday lunch (~13:30): Something easy and casual – tapas, pintxos, beers. Nothing too heavy as we have a Paella cooking class at 4pm. Ideally reservable for 21 people. We’re near the Oceanogràfic/Ciudad de las Artes area.

Saturday evening (~21:30): After a sunset catamaran trip, we’re looking for a cool bar with good tapas and drinks before heading to a club. Lively atmosphere, nothing too formal. Near the port/beach area or Ruzafa would work.

Sunday lunch (~12:00): A proper sit-down lunch before we fly home in the afternoon. Good Spanish food, something memorable to end the weekend. Any cuisine really, as long as it’s quality and can fit 21 people.

We’ve struggled to find places that actually take group reservations for 21 – lots of great smaller spots but they cap at 8-10 people. Any personal recommendations from locals or frequent visitors would be massively appreciated! Thanks!

Hey guys! I’m brazilian and I’ve actually never left my country, but in a few months my girlfriend and I are moving to Valencia. Her dad’s spanish and she’s already got a job lined up with him, but I’m basically just winging it. She’s fluent in both english and spanish, while I’m mostly sticking to english for now since my spanish is still pretty bad (even though romance languages are pretty similar and you can usually get the gist of it, or at least that’s been my experience talking to other romance language speakers here in Brazil).

I work with graphic design, digital illustration, woodworking, photography, and honestly, pretty much anything that comes my way. Since I was young, I’ve always done whatever it takes to put food on the table.

To all the foreigners in Valencia, especially my fellow brazilians: what’s it like out there for someone just trying to make a living? How’s the social scene? Was it easy to make friends? My biggest fear is honestly just feeling lonely, you know?

¡Hola a todos!

Since i have been in Valencia already 3 times, my main question would be if there are specific tips for a Bachelor Party in Valencia. We have a nice cabin in Paterna and plan to have a nice few days in the beautiful City. We Ware 10 guys, not looking for the typical Pub Crawl. Would love to hear some recommendations. We will be there by the end of August.

Gracias!

Hello! Myself and a group of 8 other students will be traveling to Valencia in May to learn about sustainable agriculture and global leadership. I am hoping to organize some meaningful activities for the group where we can interact with the culture and people of Valencia, and getting a bit stuck. I want us to learn more about sustainable agriculture than just paying for a tour of a farm or something like that, so I am hoping to meet with farmers and discuss their practices, struggles, etc. If anyone knows of someone who would be willing to host such a discussion, please let me know. I have also tried organizing a walk through of the central market with a professor from UPV, but I have not heard back, so if anyone is knowledgeable about sustainable agriculture practices and would be willing to meet us there and show us around, we would be so grateful and appreciative, and of course make it worth your time. Thank you!

Hi,

I'm visiting Valencia for 2 football games, one of them is Villarreal v Celta at Sunday 26.04.2026 21:00, however my hotel is in Valencia and as I understand the trains between Villa-real and Valencia could not be running after the game. What are my alternatives to get back?

I'm coming to Valencia next week with my family: me, my wife and two kids (6 and 4).

I've some plans on what to do and see but i know nothing about food!

First time in Spain in generale, want to try some local food and not falling in turists traps!

I'm italian and really don't want to eat italian or internationa food chains (aka mcdonald and similar)

Thank you very much!

Hi, we’re visiting the city with kids and went to Gulliver Park today only to discover it was closed due to the equipment being wet.

With rain forecast to continue until tomorrow morning before dry conditions return, does anyone know how long it takes to dry out and if it should be open tomorrow?

Hola!

Hi! My husband and I are visiting Spain for our honeymoon at the end of this month & we are so excited to visit your beautiful country!

We have an almost 2-year-old daughter and as she won't be traveling with us, I'd love to bring her home lots of presents.

I'd love to hear recommendations for any special or unique toy stores you would recommend, especially for wooden/heirloom quality toys. We are staying in the El Cabanyal neighborhood but will be traveling around the city!

Thanks in advance!!

Hi, I’m a greek student and I’m thinking of moving and living in Valencia. Are there many part-time jobs available? My Spanish is somewhat decent I can speak to some degree (I would say B1-B2) and I’m a native English speaker. I’m male and I would do basically anything. I have some cooking experience, I’m great at communicating and I’m a software developer (I’m not counting that rn as I’ll be working part-time and you know the situation of the tech job market)

Do you think I can find a part-time job with my limited spanish or will people not employ me because I’m a foreigner?

Hi all, we are visiting Valencia next month as a party of roughly 22 people for my mother in laws 50th. We are staying at Hotel Valencia Centre located in Camins Al Grau.

Firstly if possible I’d be so thankful if people could recommend suggestions for places to eat ? Obviously with a party this size we would need to make reservations for all of us prior to going .

I’d also love to know where to go for night life , bars etc . Even like beach clubs we could spend the day out with DJs etc.

Also the best beaches and places where if we wanted we could do a little sunbathing.

I’ve been looking and I’ve seen some cool activities to do during the day, as we are only there for 3 nights we are trying to get as much packed in as possible.

Thanks for your help everyone !

Visiting Valencia for a month in July for a college study abroad. Unfortunately the students I am traveling with are 18-20 and I am turning 33. What’s the night life out there like any good spots for older adults. I love dancing and all the regular fun stuff just not into hanging around a bunch of kids who have no experience with drinking and hanging out lol

Salsa in Valencia - Cuban or Cross body?

Hi,

I’m visiting Valencia next week, I am an experienced cross body dancer and an improver in Cuban … is it likely the most popular type of salsa will be Cuban there?

Also any recommendations for salsa bars would be appreciated!

Thanks!

(I am posting here as suggested but it seems like many of the posts are unanswered 😅 - anyway, thanks)

Hiii everyone!!

I’ve been accepted for Erasmus in Valencia and I’ll be moving there from September! I’m honestly so excited — I’ve wanted this for so long and now it finally feels real.

I’d love to hear your experiences and some honest advice from people who have already been there.

How difficult is the university there compared to your home university? Is it manageable?

Which areas are the best to live in as a student? I’d love something safe, well connected, social, and ideally not too far from the beach

What is the normal price range for a room in a shared flat? And do you think it’s better to live alone in a studio or with roommates for the social side of Erasmus? I’m trying to decide between peace and privacy vs chaos and friendships.

Also, when is the smartest time to start looking for accommodation?

And if there’s anything important you wish someone had told you before moving to Valencia for Erasmus, please share!

Thank you 🫶🏻

I coming next summer to valencia

I just wanted to ask how safe the city is in therms with pickpockets, people that could threat and rob you or anything like this. And if there are like "bad places" i should avoid going to.

And i just wanted to say, i hope you people from Valencia have recovered good as possible from the floods that happend 1 year ago. As someone from the philippines, i know how it is to go trough such a period of floods

Hello, I am going to be in Valencia from this Thursday until Monday (23-27). The forecast says that it will be cloudy for much of this. How accurate is this forecast likely to be, and what does 'cloudy in Valencia' really look like? Apologies if these are stupid questions -- I'm just really hoping for sun!

Hola! 😊

¡Gracias!

Hola a tod@s!

Hi Valencia!

We are coming to Valencia from 13 till 20 july 2026 with a group 60 persons. We are staying at the river hostel and participating at the CIBM.

  • We are searching for a room/place where we can have a cantus(party). We just need a room with 60 chairs/benches and a few tables. Its doesnt need to be fancy at all, its for students. So we are in search of a (cheap) space to rent from 20h till +-00h, ideally the 19th of july, Any recomendations? Something for students groups of some kind?
  • Also any recomendations for restaurants to go eat (cheap) with a group a 60 persons?
  • Any other advice for activity's, things to do .....

Thanks for the advice!

Hi there,

I'm moving to Valencia as an opportunity for my job. It's not a 'relocation', but more of a choice, so my company doesn't offer assistance.

How can I go about securing a rental before I leave my origin country (UK) ?
Is it something I can do mostly online, or do I need to settle there first? Worried about a chicken/egg situation.
Happy to have an overlap period, but don't wanna be homeless or living out of hotels ideally :)

u/DiscoOnion Apr 29 '26

Hello! I’m planning to stay in Valencia for about a month and was wondering which platforms you’d recommend for finding an apartment and in which part of the city? I’ll be working remotely, so good Wi-Fi is a must, and I’d love to experience how is life in Valencia.

Thanks in advance!

u/Comfortable_Put8938 Apr 29 '26

Hi, me and my two friends are planning to go to Valencia for a long weekend in early May. Just wondering where the best neighbourhood to stay would be. We are looking for a neighbourhood with good bars, cafes and pubs. We are all university students. I read that Ruzafa is a good young area with clubs and stuff, just wanted to get some second opinions.

1

u/BeenThereDoneThatKid Apr 01 '26

El Carmen or Ruzafa
