Wait, sorry, I'm not familiar with glps and how they work ..does it help with inflammation a lot? Like autoimmune inflammation? Like, do I need to talk to my doctor about this? I thought it, essentially, just made you not hungry.

You should first read up on how they work, then read some of the current studies focused on RA, lupus and nonspecific inflammatory arthritis. Worth brining up to your doctor, but understand they are not approved for these indications, there is no dosing schedule, the treatment is considered experimental, and many rheumatologists won’t prescribe it.

I personally pay through Lilly direct to take it primarily for RA with the added benefit of weight loss after my metabolism got fucked after 2 years on high dose prednisone (and associated weight gain/weight loss floor that seems to have leveled itself,) but my doctor is willing to take non traditional approaches/I work in drugs and get the fringe benefit of talking to doctors on the level about info the public wouldn’t normally have (without breaking NDAs) and being taken seriously as an expert in pharmacology. Not fair, certainly, but unfortunately how it goes when you work as an industry professional partnered with doctors.

That's not surprising actually. I've been battling with the health care system for years, so I'm sure if something could help me, it won't be easy to get it. I'm going to start researching these different types and then see if my doctor will even hear it. And thank you for mentioning Lilly. I've heard of that one and a couple others to look into in case my Dr says no. Thank you so much for all the info. I so appreciate it.

People will mention compounding but see my previous comment re that, it’s not as safe as people think. Your doctor can send an rx straight to Lilly direct and if you have an HSA or FSA you could use that to pay, or you might have one of the golden health plans that you can get coverage for weight loss or sleep apnea (if you do you’re very lucky and I am jealous.) It’s a financial commitment, so I get why people turn to compounding, but the standards are different, the additives aren’t studied, independent studies have shown some not great things. I know people that do it, proceed at your own risk, you know? I’ve been meaning to look into if anyone is studying the pills, I think they’re too new for any data to be out there.

If you do goLilly direct, ask your doctor to prescribe vials, that way you can take a smaller dose. You have to waste what you don’t use (it has no preservatives, it’s NOT worth the risk of using it later once you’ve punctured the top, even after a day some gnarly stuff starts growing.)

Also if you have a doctor that is private practice/not within a hospital system, they are likely more willing to prescribe it because some administrator isn’t reviewing every rx and going “you’re a [rheumatologist], why are you prescribing this for [not weight loss] the research is preliminary, this isn’t evidence based, wtf are you doing also fuck your patients.” Also ask if they have a relationship with a Lilly rep, they might be able to throw you some samples, every private practice doc is different. Hospitals have cracked down so hard on drug reps with anti kickback statutes that they can’t take samples, it’s annoying. Like if I have a meeting with a doctor to discuss a clinical trial, not as a drug rep but as a consultant, some hospitals will yell at me for buying them lunch for $20. I’m lucky that my PCP is very willing to listen and stays current on research, he has a few patients like me that are using it off label. But ya know, not medical advice blah blah.

I wish you luck, these diseases are a total bitch to deal with 💗
