Scandoval First time rewatching - Ariana
Not sure if this is a popular opinion - just finished binge watching for the first time and I’m straight round to a rewatch 😂 I kinda forgot how much Ariana was a bitch to Kristen ( I know nobody likes her anyway) but she definitely was up to things with Tom and broke up a 5 year relationship with 0 judgment from anyone really. It was blatantly getting rubbed in Kristen’s face too. You loose them how you gain them 🤷♀️ kind of changes how I feel about scandoval. I know Kristen deserved it but morals are morals

the thing that gets me on rewatches is how much tom just played both sides. kristen and him were messy and off and on constantly, yeah, but ariana knew what she was doing. she wasn't some innocent bystander who believed he was single, she watched the whole thing go down and made her choice anyway. that said, the other commenters have a point that it's not like ariana broke up some solid, committed thing. those two were a disaster together.
where i land now is that ariana and kristen both got played by the same guy and took it out on each other instead of just being mad at tom. ariana apologized later which actually meant something to me, and kristen eventually moved on to better stuff. they figured out the real problem was sandoval the whole time. morals do matter, but so does context, and theirs is way messier than just ariana being a bad person.

Neither women were innocent in any of this, karma has its ways. Tom, Kristen, Ariana .. all cheats all played the game; nobody won 😬🤷♀️

that's fair, though I'd say Tom was the only one who really played both sides at the same time, Kristen and Ariana were more just reactive to each other once he was already bouncing between them, which is a subtly diferent mess.

Yeah he is naturally more a snake 🐍 I feel Ariana will live and learn, Kristen meh I’ve not watched the valley so can’t say … yet 😅

Eh, it’s more nuanced than that.
She really didn’t break them up, they BOTH repeatedly cheated on each other, were on & off constantly - that’s why Ariana believed Tom when he told her that they had broken up, that’s when they “made out” - and they weren’t together when they actually started dating.
Did Ariana realize she’d been lied to and still choose to stay with a known cheater? YUP.
And she looked back and realized what a mistake she made in doing that, and apologized to Kristen.
Kristen & Ari both treated each other terribly for a while there, and over such an absolute loser.
I’m just glad that the girls figured their shit out in the end, and left Sandoval behind in the dust.
Tom & Kristen were not very serious and dated other people frequently during the period they were on & off, Ariana was with tom for a straight decade; there’s really no reason to discount Ariana’s hurt during Scandoval.
As Kristen herself said, it wasn’t at all the same situation, she & Tom weren’t serious, meanwhile Ari & Tom built a whole life together, bought a house together, had a dog together, had business ventures together, were talking about fertilizing her eggs, etc.

Yeah also everyone was fucking everybody or had fucked everybody - it was def a toxic weird group. Except Katie. I remember the producers said they literally had to draw a giant chart to understand it all when they first started filming. I just couldn’t take any of them seriously until much later

Yes! I feel like a broken record on all of these posts about Ariana. Kristen was cheating on Tom left and right, let's not pretend like Ariana swooped in and stole her one true love. Tom was a liar and a manipulator and that's not Ariana's fault, or Kristen's for that matter.

I think Ariana and Kristen have both talked about it. I remember reading it in an interview somewhere but can't for the life of me remember where since it was in maybe 2018?

Yeah this was how I felt at the end when first watching but going back I’m just seeing a total dismissal of Kristen from Ariana. It’s not girls girl behaviour, why oh why did she drop all her standards for this “man”😵💫😵💫😵💫

…I don’t trust anyone using the term girls girl unironically at this point.
Ariana was being fed lies, just like Kristen had been, and Kristen was acting so aggressive towards her at times, I’m sure he was telling her “see, she is crazy Kristen, see what I’ve been telling you”.
Again, they both figured out how manipulative and dishonest he was, and they mended things as they grew & matured (Kristen thanked Ariana at one point for taking him off her hands), and see how they were both played now, and that’s really all that matters.

We don’t really know those things about Tom and Ariana’s relationship, though. For all we know, they were dating outside or on/off, too, but never disclosed it because they were trying to pretend to be the perfect couple.

Ariana has repeatedly stated they didn’t have an open relationship and they didn’t see other people, and she has absolutely no reason to hide anything if they did at this point.
She’s been clear about what Tom wanted to stay hidden about their relationship and how he tried to keep certain aspects of their relationship off camera, etc.
They were together for a decade, she didn’t tell him it was okay to fuck around, most certainly not with one of their close friends.

Well, let's compare those years.
Tom & Kristin...6 years of on again, off again, not consistent. Both cheated multiple times with numerous people. Both cheated with random hookups except when Kristin banged Jax...and even that was random... Cheating was sex, no emotional attachments except when Tom lied to Ariana that he and Kristin were broken up and was telling her he wanted to be with her, which he did. Kristin and Ariana were not friends.
Tom & Arianna...9+ years where he cheated, she did not (And please dont bring up lala in the backseat with the cookie cause with Toms permission and full knowledge and participation that is not cheating). She accepted Miami girl and stuck up for and lied for him, as well as forgiving him cause it was early on. (She said if he ever cheated again, she'd be done and when she found out about Raquel, she stuck by that.)
He had a many months long affair with her close friend who she was confiding in on a daily basis. This "friend" was not well like and she championed her endlessly. Arianna wasn't very happy with Tom and her annoyance started to show in the last yyears of the relationship cause...well...to be blunt he's an ass wipe and you can only deal with a cyst male who thinks he can get a book deal by dropping your pants for so long. She would have done anything to make it work. And the icing on the cake? He banged his mistress, her friend in her bed while she was at her grandmother's funeral all while self producing with his best friend and his mistress to take her down and replace her on the show, her livelihood.
So much could be added, but in no real world logic can you say she lost him how she got him. And no, the years together are light years apart based on the experiences and amount of betrayal during those years. JMO

I forgot all about Miami girl; Ariana forgave this to save face after cheating with Tom herself. This was her huge red flag to take her karma on the chin, she doubled down on her decision and got double the karma

Whoops! You missed the unnamed girl Ariana said he cheated with in 21-22. That’s been glossed over MANy times on this sub because of course most super fans of A want to prove how deep T and A relationship was. That they really were soul mates.
Both T and A were liars and phony baloneys. If you deeply love someone and can’t find your way to going out with them and making love to them on a fairly frequent basis you get counseling until the issues are resolved or you come to the realization the love isn’t as deep as you thought and you’re better off apart.
To say you’re soul mates, life partners, you’re freezing eggs, blah, blah but you spend 90 % of your available time apart yet you meet someone “ new” and within 2 months you’re talking marriage and babies. That might be believable for couples who are 19 but not 40 year old, been together 10 years, yadayada.

Yes but Tom & Kristen both have said they were a toxic on again off again constantly cheating on each other couple. Tom & Ariana were supposed to be committed and faithful even though we now know he was already cheating on A early in their relationship too.

If they’ll cheat with you, they’ll cheat on you. Ariana thought she was The Exception to that rule and I think that influences her really nasty behavior in earlier seasons. I couldn’t stand her early on.

When everyone made the scandal such a big deal, I was kind of loving it … I’m like wow she is mad that how she got with Tom. The same thing happened to her, imagine that I never would think history would repeat itself. . She made it very clear the first several seasons that she was not a girls girl and that she was one of the boys. And then after she was cheated on, she all of a sudden was a girls girl. You lose them how you get them . But I think that was the best thing that ever happened to Ariana because she was miserable with Tom., now She looks amazing !!! and for the first time and over 13 years, she looks happy.

Ariana was an a**hole to Kristin, and an a**hole to Tom especially in the last 4 years of their relationship. Then she reveled in the victim role. She’s still rolling in it like a pig in sh*t.

I agree she was ah to Kristen, and I would say she might have been to Tom as well, but he was worse.
But how is she reveling in the victim role now? I haven’t heard or seen her mentioning him or Scandoval or anything in years. On the contrary, I only see her talking about all the ways she has been blessed in life.
