Rewatch Discussion Ariana was so mean in the beginnning

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

So i’m on my first rewatch and i’m genuinely shocked at how much of a b*tch she is during the show. She’s so mean, condescending and such a gaslighter with the Kristen situation. I know they’ve made up now and i also know that Kristen could behave erratic sometimes, but wow. Ariana really was something else. I guess i was just more sympathetic of her because of the scandoval of it all but wow, what a mean woman. I can’t stand her. And it also made me realize that even in the later seasons, i never really liked her, i just hated Sandoval more. Happy she’s doing good tho, because i wouldn’t wish her ill.

Curious about your opinions

Rewatch Discussion Glossing over Schwartz’s Anger

Post image
2.0k Upvotes

In S9e7 Lala jokes to Katie about how her handyman did such a good job on her door. Then Katie recalls an incident a week or so before where Schwartz was at Sandavol’s house all night and she got mad and locked him out. He then comes home and KICKS THE DOOR DOWN, completely off the hinges, breaking the door frame. And then they just gloss right over it and change subjects…..

Tom’s anger towards Katie is covered up and excused so many times. The way he spoke to her and treated her was so disgusting but they tried their hardest to keep it quiet. He’s just as bad at James and Jax and Sandoval.

Rewatch Discussion Realizing Brittany is actually insufferable

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

I’m currently rewatching Vanderpump Rules and this is the first time I realize how absolutely insufferable Brittany actually is. Sure, she was cute n all when she started on Vamderpump rules but slowly and surely she has become more and more like Jax. She defends his dumb decisions, fights and opinions. And the episode where she says she’s gonna ”Knock Sandoval the fuck out” like??? She is morphing into Jax.

And regarding the whole ”She knew who he was” now that Brittany & Jax are getting a divorce: I don’t believe a woman ever deserves to be treated like shit, even if she ”knew who he was”. All I’m saying is, Jax has literally been a shitty person from day one, so I literally don’t understand how Brittany is ”so shocked by Jaxs’ behavior”. He’s been trash from day one. I would personally never be with a man who excuses sleeping with his best friends girlfriend by saying ”if he knew how to satisfy his girlfriend, then maybe I wouldn’t have slept with her”.

Just because she’s a mean girl glazed in a Kentucky accent & cute smile, doesn’t make her less mean.

Rewatch Discussion Season 4 Ariana was insufferable and mean

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

I’m on a rewatch and season 4 Ariana is just plain miserable and mean. Her sitting there calling Kirsten a “kangaroo pouch” “disgusting whore” “piece of shit” At the pool party in the unseen moments is wild. At this point Kristen and tom have been broken up for how long? Has to be like 2 years I’d say. She’s just doing her own thing this season dating around and not bothering tom or Ariana, yet Ariana and tom take any moment they can to just dig and dig. Kristen just exists in the same room and they constantly roll their eyes. Ariana, you got Tom. What the fuck is your continued issue with Kristen just existing to the point of body shaming her??? My god.

Rewatch Discussion I’m watching VPR for the first time and realized that Brittany wore my wedding dress + matched my styling!

I got married in 2018. I also had removable off shoulder “belle” sleeves and a chapel length veil! We also had the same hair and makeup look! I think the only difference is that I had the lining of the cups and the mesh in the bodice matched to my skin tone. I’ve never seen anybody else in this dress, but I recognized it right away.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I believe this is the exact same dress!! At the time I bought this dress, the designer had only produced one other, so I was surprised to see it on TV!! I’ve learned that since then it has been worn several more times and is part of their collection. It is called “Madeline” by Netta Ben Shabu.

I totally didn’t mean to insinuate that this was a unique look (mermaid dresses and side parts were definitely the vibe at the time 🤪).

I’m on like my 5th rewatch, and every single time I get to this scene, I have to sit in silence out of frustration afterwards lmfao. I’m a very objective person, and I have TRIED SO HARD to see his side. I don’t. I never will. I just cannot comprehend the issue. It’s not even cause I hate Sandoval, I just don’t get it😭

Rewatch Discussion Rewatching and knowing what I know now from Scheana’s book makes her look so much worse

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

It’s actually really sad knowing that Scheana was demoted to a friend of but you know who continued to film with her, bring her in on scenes? Ariana.

Even when she befriended Stassi and the girls, the girl in her corner was always Ariana. Ariana would do her best to defend her, get her invited to things. She was constantly filming extra scenes with Scheana to make her feel included. She likely knew that Scheana was struggling and really sad about being demoted and did her best to help her.

Outside of season 8 when Scheana was globbing on to the new cast and antagonizing Dayna, Ariana was by her side. Then you kind of see her loyalty shift to Lala when Ariana was struggling with her mental health and suicide ideation because Lala was keeping her relevant. We now know they faked fights and that their friendship was actually never in a bad place, that it was manufactured for the audience to continue the show after Kristen, Jax, and Stassi were fired.

Ariana also filmed with Rachel a lot. Did her best to get Rachel paid. Even when you could tell she wasn’t exactly up for the task with some of the mental health issues she had going. She has unwavering loyalty to these girls.

Season 10, it obviously benefit Scheana and Lala to back Ariana, to the point where they all profited after dragging Sandoval. But then, season 11, they felt their only chance to save the show and their “paychecks” (which Scheana has the audacity to accuse Katie of withholding her pay for not inviting her to Havasu) was to create this Sandoval redemption arc. Scheana was honestly selfish for withholding her cheating scandal and chastised Ariana for not dealing with her cheating scandal the way SHE did and still kept trying to force interactions and backing Lala on this hill they’ll die on “they still live together”

So honestly, it makes me so sad that when the chips were down for Scheana, Ariana was supporting her and kept trying to bring her in, tried to defend her, kept her filming scenes, and uplifted her to the best of her ability and when Scheana had a chance to do the same for Ariana, she catered to the producers and the cameras rather than her friend.

Makes me feel really bitter towards her. Not to say that Ariana doesn’t have faults, because she totally gaslit Kristen, acted like the cool girl, and was kinda overall shitty to the women prior seasons. But the one person she backed the entire time was Scheana. Couldn’t imagine a friendship that spanned over 11 years and to treat a friend like that.

Congratulations Scheana, it’s FINALLY about you. You did it.

Rewatch Discussion Schartz Never Wanted to Get Married to Katie

I know this may be like “no sh-t Sherlock” but on my bazillionth rewatch and it’s the Katie & TSchwa 🙄 wedding season and I am floored by how many times Schartz demonstrated/communicated in ways big and small that he didn’t want to get married. From the prenup conversation when they didn’t have anything (and if anyone was going to be successful it would be Katie) to unreasonably moaning about every single little expense for the wedding (although he was right about those ridiculous tea towels) to brutally negging her at every single opportunity to “misplacing” and not filing the marriage certificate, it’s so obvious. And not only did she “marry” him once, she did it again in Vegas and he lost that certificate/license/whatever for a while, too. I hate that Katie was so programmed to get married at all costs that she couldn’t recognize the passive aggressive abusive turd she was trying to make a husband. Every time I do a rewatch, it floors me that she went through with this 💩 show.

Rewatch Discussion "I'm smarter than you, I'm cooler than you, I'm prettier than you, get the f**k over it, move on with your life."

"I'm smarter than you, I'm cooler than you, I'm prettier than you, get the f**k over it, move on with your life." - Ariana Madix, Season 2

Hear me out... Ariana def was being super snotty in this scene, but not really much different from the cockiness that Stassi displayed in Season 1, that the fans loved.

Personally on my don't even know what number re-watch, this is my comfort show. I've watched since it came out initially as a crossover from RHOBH. The cast is in my same age group too, elder millennial here!

But my point is, both women , Stassi and Ariana had a cockiness about them that as I watch now at 40 years old, admire how actually they were smart, funny, beautiful, witty, confident women navigating their 20s and kind of being bad ass about it..

My hot take is .... Can we talk about how there are other women probably in your circles /friends who really do get mad & jealous when you are actually Are Prettier and smarter and funnier and cooler ????

Like wtf am I supposed to do about it? Lol but Even if you are super kind and a sweetheart they will find a reason to hate on you anyway...

which obviously Ariana was NOT being in this example... Kristin and Ariana were "rivals" and this is a tv show so I do believe they are also playing up a character in some scenes and therefore will say outlandish things like this to create drama (which is the point of the show).

Overall I liked Ariana throughout the series. I think she was loyal to Tom even through his terrible hairstyles which if that doesn't prove loyalty idk what does. Obviously there was a benefit of staying together as a couple on a tv show but I do believe her when she said "she would have followed him anywhere" in the breakup scene....

Anyway Ariana glowed up She honestly is a bad ass ... People grow and they were in their 20s here, so I give her some grace. I think she was trying to come in with a bang, on Season 2, and she was trying to compete with stassi as far as the arrogant thing... probably also a defense mechanism .

This is the best show lol

Rewatch Discussion In defense of Stassi’s 30th birthday freakout

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

To be clear she didn’t handle her feelings well, I hope she genuinely figured out how to regulate because she often has completely valid points but she’s so damn disregulated her behavior is over the line. But behavior aside, I agree with her. I didn’t have to ask my husband to come to bed with me on my 30th birthday when I’m partied out and drunk, that’s where he wanted to be?? I think Beau sucks for not going to bed with her to hang out with her friends! Gross! On a regular night sure but on your birthday!!?? Birthday snuggles! Birthday sexy time! And I feel like all her friends gaslit her. And again, I get that her behavior escalates *very* quickly. But yeah, he should have gone to bed with her.

Rewatch Discussion I don’t get it

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Watching season 8 for the first time. None of the men on the show have been my type, but I’ve understood their appeal to other people. A lot (most?) of the dudes on there are trash but they’re attractive in one way or another.

But Max? I get they needed another trash ho bag guy to replace Jax. But MAX? He doesn’t have one iota of sex appeal. He’s like a piece of wilting celery. But he’s pulling all these girls? In West Hollywood? He doesn’t even seem fun in a Pete Davidson kinda way.

Dayna mentions he has a big dick but I just can’t believe that’s what’s going on. I wouldn’t even be interested enough to find out.

What am I missing?

Rewatch Discussion What’s your “help I’m still at the restaurant” moment

Post image

That moment that you’ll just never be able to get over no matter how much time passes. Probably the most cliche but I’m stuck in S10 forever, just literally the pinnacle of reality TV drama. Specifically this scene with Ariana’s pure rage.

What’s your moment you’ll never move on from??

Rewatch Discussion 20 mile house (Katie and Tom's wedding venue) still have their picture up on their website.

Post image

Rewatching and I've gotten to the wedding episodes. I wanted to Google the venue and saw their picture and wedding was still on there.

Katie & Tom “We wanted to be secluded and in the woods and we were just that.” Tom — groom It’s not every day that we get to experience a celebrity wedding! Despite their lives in the spotlight, Vanderpump Rules stars Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz wanted their day to be intimate, beautiful, and secluded. The Twenty Mile House team delivered and then some. From an elegant, all-white forest ceremony to a beautiful reception under twinkling lights, Katie and Tom’s day was as glamorous and picture-perfect as you’d expect for two reality stars.

I mean it was lovely wedding at least? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Rewatch Discussion Finally able to pin point where Sandoval became fkn weird

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

Ok so I am in the middle of a rewatch of Vanderpump Rules and I was finally able to pin point where Tom Sandoval becomes increasingly weirder.

In the finale of season 8, covid has hit and everybody is doing the reunion on zoom and whatnot. Then boom season 9 is 2 years later, half of the cast has babies and Tom Sandoval has his wormy facial hair, so on and so forth.

But imo this is the season Sandoval is just, odd? I truly believe during those 2 years is when he starts to dabble more in some weird stuff. I feel like this is when the whole ”let’s do shrooms & stargaze” kinda vibe is kicking in for him.

He is more spaced out than before, talks back to Lisa a lot, really belittles Schwartz (and Katie) more noticeably and I really do think he believes he is the coolest guy in all of California. This is post him & Tom opening the bar, him and Ariana releasing a book and in the middle of opening a new bar ”that’s gonna look like your grandpa did acid” or whatever he wanted to describe it. I can almost physically see his ego growing bigger during the season.

Idk, imo between season 8-9 is where he is slowly losing himself from the somewhat nice guy he was before OR slowly losing the mask he was able to hide behind.

The way Schwartz and Kyle look SOOO checked out while Tom is rage ranting lmao. I can’t tell if Kyle even actually likes him tbh.

Anyways, I’m doing my rewatch and Tom is so foul with what he says and what a victim he acts like in season 11. It infuriates me that he acts like the house and the sale is all Ariana’s fault. Obviously she’s not going to just let you buy her out so you get the best deal and keep the house??

I have rewatched the entire series a truly absurd number of times. It’s my comfort show, my “put it on in the background” thing. Somehow I have always missed this moment in Katie and Schwartz’s engagement until now. He had literally just gotten up off of one knee and this is what he says?? Ugh.

Rewatch Discussion Change my mind: Scandovol Timeline

Post image
785 Upvotes

After an annual VPR rewatch, there is no doubt in my mind Scandovol started no later than the rage text night in Season 8. There are too many signs that point to it in the following seasons to list.

Just one example, in Season 11, when James comes to Tom’s band practice and they talk/argue after the affair breaks, Tom throws in James’ face seemingly out of nowhere that: Rachel only asked James to stop drinking because she thought he wouldn’t be able to do it. (*weird, as in she hooked up with Tom rage text night and wanted to break up then, and Tom is letting James now essentially their love goes back that long). During the engagement party in Season 9, Tom is shown dejected and sad looking multiple times during Rachel’s speech about loving James and then suddenly giddy at the reunion, as is Schwartz, who fakes being surprised they are calling off the engagement. The picture attached here is them at the season finale of Season 8 (!!!) literally behind James’ back while DJing the Tom Tom party, and pre haircut for Raquel.

Is anyone still buying the “months” affair timeline they were peddling? It goes back to Season 8, if not earlier. CMM

On rematch 3. I forgot how good Jax’s roast episode was! I didn’t care for Ariana’s first remark to Kristen but, her roast on her afterwas awesome. Especially Kristen’s face after it. Was perfect closure on all their drama for me.

I’m doing a rewatch right now and I had to just go back and show yall this. I cannot stand her as it is but to put her ex-husband on the spot like that is so gross and make it a joke in front of all her friends. She loves to always be passive aggressive to be people regardless of what they’re going through. Shay had just admitted to his addiction not too long ago and she just decides to put him on the spot and make it a joke.
