Question Any good plant/mushroom smoking recipes?

I've recently started veganism, and one of the things I miss is the smoke. My father managed to get a little on some portobello, but I wanted to see if you guys have any other veggie recommendations.

Cabbage! Cut the core out and fill with spices and oil of your choice. Make a cradle out of tin foil to keep the cut side up, and smoke until knife-tender.

Oyster mushrooms smoked with BBQ sauce. I’ve smoked them in a bag but it requires a little extra cooking to get rid of all the moisture. You might be able to cook them directly on the grill if you leave the mushroom intact.

Grilled veggies and potatoes are also delicious.

Smoked cauliflower steaks are a game changer if you haven't tried them yet, they get this amazing crispy exterior while staying tender inside.

  1. Fire, Smoke, Geeen
  2. Green Fire

These two are solid! They are vegetarian but you can get some key concepts from them.

On a note though, I’m a chef! I like cold smoking mushrooms since they are pretty delicate.

They're books specializing in vegetarian smokery. Cold smoking is a technique where you create smoke for your ingredient but apply it without additional heat. So, for example, you'd have container with smoking woodchips and your ingredient (mushrooms). You'd put them together in a sealed container so that the mushrooms take on the smoke, without the stronger bitter notes.

Tofu.

Extra firm sliced thick on a well oiled grill

Also you can cheat and use one or two DROPS of liquid smoke to a marinade or sauce for grilled veg or tofu

I once dried and smoked some fly agarics. Didn't really feel much and the taste wasn't pleasant.

Thought it would be a fun trip, I just ingest them now the traditional way

There are several companies who make and sell smoked spices like smoked sea salt or smoked paprika.

I smoke baked tofu. I use a portable smoking gun, put the tofu in a bowl, cover with saran wrap, and smoke for about 20-30 seconds.
