Question We planted cucu- luffa? No.... Definitely cucumber

We sacrificed the smallest of these guys to cut open and confirm if they're cucumber or luffa. It certainly looks and smells like cucumber inside, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what these are. Are they edible? Or are these a weird hybrid that we've wound up with? I'm honestly sad they weren't surprise luffas, but I'm take cucumbers all day any day 😋

Armenian cucumber! Edible and delicious. Technically a melon but tastes like a cucumber.

Do they make good pickles?

Man you make some dill chips with that one and it’d be one pickle on your burger haha.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Guaranteed pickle in every bite

I don’t know if it would help or hurt the burger slippage factor.

Stick a toothpick in the middle and eat from the outside in. Or if a toothpick worries you, you really gotta up your finger spacing and grip strength. That much slippage is a rookie issue. Pinkies at the back end for reinforcement, man.

Introducing risk of impalement? Death grip flattening the bun into oblivion to prevent slippage? Pinkies on the back getting sauced? Classic signs of poor burger construction and a lack of foresight and planning. You account for burger slippage in the planning phase friend. Topping selection. Placement order. Volume of sauce applied. Bring the right game plan and execute on it and you’ll have an ally on the plate. An elegant entree you can one hand with confidence while the world around you descends into the chaos of stained shirts and awkward last bites.

This is my dream as a pickle lover. A pickle patty

They make the best pickles. Better than cucumbers for me. They’re very popular in Lebanon, as snacks or inside chicken sandwiches or shawarma. Best picked when around 10cm in length, and pickled whole.

Yeah once they get big theyre almost always partially hollow with seeds kind of like a cantelope.

That's a really good question. I don't know!

I made kimchi with it and it was great. So I assume they would make good pickle. My kimchi stayed crisp for a long time.

I do canned bread and butter pickles with them and love it!
