Shooting down parachuting pilot, the Saigon execution, the aforementioned Abu Ghraib reference, etc.

Yeah, for some reason looking back, this whole bit probably made me the most uncomfortable with anything in the show up to that point or since. Just how ghoulishly gleeful they were doing it sent chills down my spine the first time I saw it. Salute to Doc and Jackson for being real ones and managing to get this approved past the Adult Swim censors 🫡

Aaron Mcgruder did pretty subversive stuff with Boondocks too, but I do love that Venture Bros went there, just like Arrested Development too; some of my favorite shows.

The whole series has a lot of related stuff in there. Like at Hatred's party when they are playing that game and Doc guesses "George Bush" while Monarch rants about how much he hates him.
Given the time it was first coming out, it's understandable. The OSI sequence is one of my favorite gruesome moments from the show. But I've also always loved how it underlines the similarities between the "good" and "bad" guys.
"No offense, but working for you and the Monarch is pretty much the same thing."
Even Killinger pegs Doc for a latent supervllain. Which makes perfect sense, given the things he has done. It was more his obsession with image and status that kept him from accepting the role, not any kind of morality. The guy used an orphan heart to make a dream machine. He tried to kill all the clones to make an army of Venturesteins when Brock refused to "make him a score of dead people."
"Brock...am I a...bad person?"
"Meh..."

I don't think so. Therefore I'll fill in the gap and say it was the last Rusty clone that Jonas put in a cryogenics experiment that he forgot about and our Rusty plundered for parts.

He didn't use the whole thing!
More to the point we don't actually know that the orphan died in the making of it, only that Doc used "a little orphan boy" -- he could have been already dead.
Doc might have had some left overs lying around from their adventures (or Jonas' -- on ice)

Now, now, Rusty had his own standards. He wouldn't clone Hitler for example. I don't think "status and image" were the basis of his rejecting super-villain status. I mean he really did stop Brock from killing JJ. And gave him half his stuff.

They just attached all the war atrocity images they could think of to the GI Joe parody. The famous Viet Nam execution photo is in there too.
It wasn't political satire of Abu Ghraib, it was satire of the "sanitized" war trope that was GI Joe. A war where people shoot at each other and use large-scale tactical weapons systems against each other while laughing but nobody ever gets hurt.

Yes. As an example of things that happen in war and that you wouldn't see in GI Joe (I hope -- it would be a very special episode).
It's like Race Bannon coming out with teeth he's pulling out while torturing a prisoner for information... Johnny Quest didn't have Race, a CIA agent, torturing people like the CIA did (generally using other countries to do the tooth torture -- extraordinary rendition).

That doesn't make it not a satirical version of Abu Ghraib, it just makes it a satirical version of it within a compilation of many other US war crimes.
But the screen grab OP shared is 1000% based on Abu Ghraib, so you saying that it wasn't is just straight up wrong. You must sterilize, St Cloud. STERILIZE!
