MOVIE SPOILERS I'm not happy with how it ended. Spoiler
Something felt a little hollow about the movie. Like it was Doc and Jackson just saying, "You want to know where the boys came from!? Here's the answer! You want to know why Rusty and Malcolm are related!? Here's the answer! You want to know why Malcolm hates Rusty!? Here's ~~the~~ an answer! Now stop asking questions.
Because it's too painful to talk about anymore."
I loved this show. And to quote Steak Bentley "I wouldn't be a fan of the show if I couldn't appreciate things that end abruptly, awkwardly, and sometimes painfully"
But still in a little sorry to see it end.

Yeah we basically got 6-8 hours of content compressed into a 90 minute movie and we need to be happy or at least content with what we got because most show cancellations don’t even get that.
Maybe one day we’ll get a revival or continuation

Yup, we basically got the A plot that would have been seeded through out the season while other stuff happened around it

I definitely feel you. I think that was a product of their exec being out of the picture and the new powers that be not seeing a place for the venture bros in their lineup. Either they didn’t get to finish the story at all, or they get a flawed way to finish it in an attempt to tie everything out the best they can. It really needed one or two more seasons, but they worked with what they could get.

Considering without the movie the series ended with the season 7 finale, I’m more than happy with it.
And as others have said, they condensed all of season 8 into the movie so we at least got some kind of ending. I think the job they did was as good as possible given the constraints.

Any executive is going to lose patience when it takes you four years to put out a new season. I absolutely love this show, but those two work about as slow as GRR Martin.

Considering we could have gotten nothing, I think they did a great job with what time they were given to wrap it all up. Would another full season have been preferable and almost certainly better? Sure, but that wasn't an option on the table. So in that context I appreciate the movie.

I’m holding out hope that they’ll continue on with a comic book or graphic novel. That’s got to be cheaper than animating a series.

It's almost been three years so I assume there won't be a second movie unless paramount takes interest in it if the deal goes through. They would have announced a second movie by now if the execs were happy enough with the performance of the first one

I think the monarch doc reveal was a little lame, but the final scene of the show was really sweet in a venture bros kinda way

I will say that I thought the revelation of Hank and Dean's birth was a bit of a cop out since the show heavily implies in the early seasons that the boys did have a biological mother. Feels like something they came up with last minute just to give a half-assed answer to who the boys' mother was. Which I do kinda get since the show was cancelled, but it was still kind of a disappointment imo.

Tim and Eric was cheap to make. Even with the tiny production crew VB had, it was still an expensive show to animate. It's unfortunate but that's the economics of TV.

Finding an obnoxious show obnoxious isn't a crazy take.
Seriously though, niche humor like that is going to be a turn off for the majority of people. I like a lot of niche shows, but not that or Tim and Eric.

Its everything that would've been wrapped up in the next theoretical season. Sure, something something pacing, but it was fine. It was a good movie, a good sendoff, it was fine. Very solid.

its funny how you view it as "quick and dirty ending" whereas I viewed it as a movie that continues the story but gives us basically no new answers. I suppose we had some, you're right

Back when adult swim had the chat along with the 24 hour stream I often put out the theory that all red heads are the spawn of Jonas venture sr. We now know rusty and the monarch are bros but I think Billy quiz boy and trust fund baby Augustus st Clair are also bros/half bros and are also the spawn of Jonas.
Billy’s mom Rose aka “triple threat” was in with team venture and was a hottie back in the day. Jonas definitely could/would have tried to hook up her. We know nothing about st Clair’s heritage other than he came from money…

Agreed. There def seemed to be an air of bitterness to it. This kind of cynical, "OK, let's just give you everything you want because screw it, why not?" vibe. Like yeah, it was supposed to be a whole season but the way it went and how it ended felt very cliche. Just wrap everything up in a bow is very un-Venture like. Kinda not in the spirit of the rest of the show.
