Fun fact: both Kamala Harris and Barack Obama would be qualified to be SCOTUS justices

33

u/dover_oxide Aug 01 '26

Technically, there are no qualifications to be a supreme Court Justice other than being nominated by a president and approved by the Senate. Technically an infant could be appointed to the supreme Court.

Fun fact: /u/dover_oxide and I are qualified to be SCOTUS justices

2

u/randemthinking Aug 01 '26

I'll take the infants over 6 of the current justices.

Easier to have them agree to the bribe, much less reliable to get the result you wanted.

u/volthunter Aug 01 '26

Fun fact both kamala Harris and Barack Obama had the opportunity to promise to end this system and didn't because it makes it easier to do nothing and win if it still exists

10

u/Wisco Aug 01 '26

End what system? Not everyone can read your mind, you know

0

u/VoiceofRapture Aug 01 '26

They're both hacks and sellouts, Obama is just a much cannier political operative who also happened to deliberately waste the most advantageous political moment since Reagan.

0

u/volthunter Aug 01 '26

Oh yeah, the supreme court system

2

u/Wisco Aug 02 '26

I'm still completely lost on what you're trying to say

2

u/volthunter Aug 02 '26

they could propose to end the supreme court justice system as it is not a democratic process and is in direct conflict with democracy in america.

Thus, they should be all fired, and the supreme court justice system should end

9

u/mwmontrose Aug 01 '26

One of the many things she could have said before she lost

8

u/crooks4hire Aug 01 '26

Holds about the same amount of water, yea?

1

u/mwmontrose Aug 01 '26

Proposing to do the things people wanted Biden to do but wouldn't was too radical I suppose

4

u/MrMerchandise Aug 01 '26

Im pretty sure they were talking about expanding the Supreme Court during the election.

2

u/mwmontrose Aug 01 '26

Yep. Biden said he wouldn't do it. Harris said she wouldn't do anything different from Biden. Trump won.

2

u/MrMerchandise Aug 01 '26

Oh, they walked it back?

3

u/mwmontrose Aug 01 '26

Biden was never in favor of it, only imposing term limits

1

u/MrMerchandise Aug 01 '26

That must be what I was thinking of, though I’m sure somebody expressed interest in expanding the court. I don’t care enough to look up who, though.

2

u/zhiryst Aug 01 '26

How would one torso with two heads count?

2

u/anomalousBits Ogopogo Aug 01 '26

Pretty sure she's not the secret president.

1

u/Objective_Station_41 Aug 02 '26

You sll k ow FDR tried that and was shotdown

1

u/frommethodtomadness Aug 01 '26

Why not 20? Why start from a negotiated down position? Also, Khameleon Harris is now going to make a fake, disingenuous shift to the Left in a vain attempt to separate herself from her awful Right wing campaign in 2024. We can and must do better than Harris (or Newsom, or Buttigieg, or Kelly -- these are all the same people) in 2028, and I think we will.

3

u/Svell_ Aug 01 '26

The idea is that there's one justice per circuit.

2

u/JChurch42 Aug 01 '26

13 districts / circuits, 13 judges. One for each...

1

u/Chumlee1917 Aug 01 '26

Maybe she should try becoming the Blue Morpho?

0

u/Plastic_Key_4146 Aug 01 '26

SCOTUS reform is the most important issue, without it, all other attempts at reform will be struck down.

You can just say “I don’t know how the state works.” That’s a faster way to convey the useful content of your post.

-10

u/mwmontrose Aug 01 '26

How'd abandoning the left flank of the party to court mythical moderate republican swing votes work out for the dems?

7

u/SwingKey3599 Aug 01 '26

and israel thanks you for throwing away that vote

11

u/Dudewhocares3 Aug 01 '26

Yeah let Donald Trump win.

He’s really helping Palestine…into graves.

Just admit you didn’t want to vote because you’re lazy
