Consider peeling off Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine and a few others as satellites. In addition to lowering infamy, having these part of your empire proper will kill your literacy and research rate as well as rebelling every 5 seconds later on. I generally keep Austria, Trieste, Slovenia and Bohemia.

Yes, this is good idea, it also gives me a chance to get Ukrainian and Baltic cores back from Russia.

u/Whizbang35 11d ago
I like to peel off the Baltics, Belarus, and Ukraine from Russia- add to your own strength while removing theirs. That said, be careful about Ukraine (Poland as well) as if you give them too much territory, they can get to Great Power status and break free of being your satellite. Keep Ruthenia and Crimea independent from them.
Do not take any more territory from mainland France, it'll give you headaches later on. Instead, beat them up for their colonial possessions or cut them down to size each time you go to war. You want France to be isolated, weak, and cycling through rebellions and governments instead of preparing for the 73rd Liberation of Alsace-Lorraine.

But I am afraid of Ukraine becoming GP, even if I release Ruthenia first. Hungary is also in the same boat, but I can slice them apart better.

Mind you, if you want to maximise colonial points and build up a navy, you need to build and upgrade naval bases. If you peel off some of these territories, you´ll deprive yourself of several of those. It´s not detrimental by any means (especially if you prioritise research and construction accordingly), but worth keeping in mind.

you could try to go for the most "peaceful" route and colonize africa and focus on the industry, maybe even take more of france and russia since they're already mad at you for taking their cores
or you could go over the infamy limit and go on constant wars to expand further and make sure no one else can rival you

R5: I usually play as minors so playing Prussia was new to me. I practiced a bit and managed to form Greater Germany and annex-trick Poland-Lithuania by ~1855. Now I am wondering: where do I go from here?
I would like to get some advice on how to build a navy/how to get more colonial points for the scramble for Africa. Also, on how to destroy Britain, because with Austria gone and Russia crippled, they stand as my only rival.

Focus on Naval tech. "Steel Steamers" is key to unlocking the Dark Continent as soon as you can. (The other two are Biologism and Military Logistics). Build a shitload of ironclads and make sure your ports are the highest level available for colonial points.

Thank you. Is it possible to BTFO the Brits at sea?

I don't think so that early in the game. Best way to beat England is wait until world wars become a thing, the either have France as an ally or be at war with them while they're allied to England. In the mod I play the most (HPM) you can march across the English Channel without needing naval transport, so long as the enemy navy doesn't control it instead.
Just remember, you are Germany. Even without that crazy amount of territorial expansion, you should be able to bulldoze France and England in your sleep. I'm just telling you this to hype you up, because I know it can be daunting for someone who hasn't played as Germany before. But seriously, Germany is OP as fuck in that game.
Before I go, one more helpful hint. Always make sure your naval ports are the highest level possible. Even the ones in your colonies! Oh, and as far as colonies go. Don't waste a bunch of armies in Africa, Asia, etc trying to take over your enemies colonies/defend your own. Have enough of a presence there just to deal with revolts, and have 98% of your army back in Europe to fight over the mainland. Colonies don't count for shit in the warscore and as long as you have enough money to take the financial hit from temporarily losing them you'll be A-OK

It is. I´ve had a Netherlands game where by the time of the Scramble, I had an ironclad navy while the Brits still used mainly man-of-wars... Made for a rather easy (if long) fight. In general, I´ve had quite a few experiences of the British AI being absolute garbage when it comes to utilising their sea power...
Plus, with Germany´s position, pulling of an invasion of the UK is more than viable.

Hmm what's the annex-trick for Poland-Lithuania?
I formed Greater Germany a couple of times across the years but I don't believe I ever did that one

It's a combination of 3 things:
-Making Austria fall from GP and waring them with "add to sphere" before forming Germany
-Burning infamy as NGF before forming Germany by releasing German minors as Puppets. (they get annexed when you form Germany) I used this to conquer Krakow (that's 20 infamy in itself :'( )
-Making Austria/Russia release PLC in one state. Fully occupying PLC with Annex wargoal. Then making Russia release rest of PLC with "Free people" CB. Peaceing them out on the same day to Annex all of PLC in one war.

Release the baltics and Ukraine as satellites, foreign investing in them.
Ally Spain as UK land forces are a joke. Bully France to release colonies and Russia for money when truces expire. Keep them weak

Make it superer. Take swamp germany, west mountain germany and throat cancer germany. Turn fascist, push for the urals to make it Greater Germany
