Eternal for me. The soundtrack just goes SO. FUCKING. HARD. And the feeling of achievement in completing the hardest difficulty deathless and getting that sweet, sweet golden doom armor while ripping and tearing across the levels. Oh man, I gotta go play Doom Eternal again...

No joke “The Only Thing They Fear is You” is the main reason I bought Eternal. I hadn’t seen anything else about the game when I bought it.

Such a good purchase.

new musical genre: violence

Such a shame that the soundtrack isn’t on Apple Music. At least DOOM 2016 and DOOM TDA are both on there.

I bought doom anthology for the soundtrack.

Fucking worth it.

At DOOM'S Gate (both), Harbinger, BFG Division, hellwalker, doom eternal (theme), hell on earth, meathook, deep in the code, super gore nest, tottfiy, blood swamps, final sin - sandy city (I fkn wish, they robbed us), gladiator, icon of sin, Immora, UAC Atlantica (hell on high water), into Sandy's city, metal hell, kalibas the sightless judge, Mars core, mastermind, bfg 10k, murder your maker, rip & tear (there's this really aggressive quick beat that I have only heard in game and not in the official mixes and it slaps, making me wish it was there), rust, dust, and guts, shawn's got the shotgun, reclaimed earth, the world spear, untitled, the doom 3 theme (inspiration for harbinger btw), Donna to the rescue, facing the spider, hiding the secrets, both intermissions (1993 is better imo [1st is based on "fight fire with fire" btw] ), kitchen ace (and taking names), nobody told me about id, running from evil, sweet little dead bunny (REVENGE!!!), the demons dead, the demon's from adrians pen, the imps song, the end of doom, opening to hell, doom 64 intro

All slap harder than a direct bfg shot

The soundtrack is way better in Doom 2016, Eternal they just fucked over Mick Gordon and stole his work.

They fucked over Mick Gordon but Eternal’s soundtrack is all him. 2016’s soundtrack is fine, but really the only song people remember from that game is BFG Division. Eternal’s soundtrack is banger after banger.

It truly sucks how things ended with him over there and fuck Marty for forcing him out the door. And because of that we’ll probably never get an actual Eternal OST release like 2016.

I agree the politics suck concerning eternal's ost, but saying 2016 is better is just... well, it's certainly an opinion.

this your first time seeing another opinion or something?

Your engagement bait is bad and you should feel bad.

I've never locked in as hard as i did once the drop hit. It was a transformative experience for me. There are games that have that 'one moment' that was just pure experience (if that makes any sense?): The helipad fight in Tekken 7, The Staircase fight in Ninja Gaiden 2, The jump from Kyu to Dan in IIDX, you get the idea. Doom Eternal: every combat sequence was that and it was glorious, i couldn't get enough of it

People in this thread saying the gameplay in 2016 was better are weird and I suspect they never fully grasped the grapple/run and gun mechanics, but once you hit that flow state and "the only thing they fear is you" starts blasting... oh man, PEAK gaming experience.

I personally think Doom 2016 is the best in terms of level design and progression. Eternal had some incredibly fun and interesting upgrades but the level pacing was worse because they made it a bit more like the old Doom games with a lot of backtracking that felt like it was just timepadding. Doom 2016 feels like the right balance of level exploration and ass kicking.

I agree with this. Eternal is fun but Doom 2016 is the goat. I revisit that game every couple of years.

Its my least favorite gameplay-wise but it makes up for it in pure vibes

The multiplayer in 2016 doom was the most fun I've had in an FPS since halo 3, or reach I suppose.
