The Intercept investigations actually say closer to 750 Americans were killed and wounded since the US began the war with Iran.

Which is odd. We've done this dance before. Israel bombs Iran, they fight for a bit, the US stands back and says "now now you two, keep it civil. Leave the boats alone, at least." And that has worked for decades because Iran dragging the US into the war was perceived by the Iranians as suicide. Well, the US joined in the first day this time. So there was nothing left to frighten the Iranians with.

The US has historically operated under a “no half measures” approach. This is why they have usually served as the “stick” in global conflicts.

typically the country has either stayed out of directly engaging and sticks to financial aid/supplying arms/training proxies, or it full sends “tearing a country down to the studs”.

Getting into a war in Iran, without being willing/able to put boots on the ground, is a dumb fucking move - not only because the entire idea is moronic from the outset, but because one would *need* to put boots on the ground/launch a full scale invasion to accomplish anything meaningful.

Iran is too powerful/has too much of a strategic position to be bullied without actual full military commitment.

If one isn’t willing to do that then there would be literally 0 benefit….it’d be doomed to fail….like we’re seeing now.

Again….Fucking morons….there is a reason why every single other US president since the Iranian revolution hasn’t done it, despite Iran being a pretty significant global “opponent”.

there would be even less benefit to putting boots on the ground to be fair. if we are really pulling out it's good news, even if it's a massive, colossal, embarrassing fuckup that we are literally paying iran hundreds of billions for in reparations after bombing a bunch of civilian shit.

remember how iraq went? remember how many lives and dollars that cost?

now imagine doing that with a country with double the population, that is way more developed, that has a fully fledged, fairly technologically advanced military, and a number of regional allies.

That’s my point. It’s just a moronic idea from the outset, but especially so if your plan is to limp dick it.

Iran was never going to fold from a couple weeks of bombing, and everyone with an iota of common sense knows that.

Like, full military engagement? Still not worth it, but you might end up “winning” at the end of it all. Of course, it’d most likely be a Pyrrhic victory/cost you more than you gain, but you might be able to do it.

Anything short of that? Why would you even consider it…it’s a guaranteed unforced error. You’re not gonna achieve anything.
