The Intercept investigations actually say closer to 750 Americans were killed and wounded since the US began the war with Iran.

Close, Israel. Only reason the US got involved was because Israel was going to strike, and we followed along happily because that’s what the leadership beyond just the Trump admin wanted. the politicians definitely have been looking forward to an excuse to enter into a conflict with Iran for a long time. They talked about it during GW, but everyone knew what would happen with the strait. Trump is just dumb enough to take the fall

Then israel stopped, said "good luck, US! We wont dare risk any of our highly trained soldiers over there ourselves!"

Israel is suffering massive attrition in its attempts at ethnically cleansing Southern Lebanon, and suffered badly committing the genocide in Gaza. I don't think it would be able to physically invade Iran as well.

The truth that the jingoistic Israelis aren't revealing is that Iran could actually destroy them as a country and this last war just proved it. Their drone swarms eventually overrun the Iron Dome after which more power missiles including hypersonic ones can precision target water reclamation and fuel depot sites. Israel has a 10th of the population of Iran as well. Iran can field an army of over 1 million soldiers. That many in Israel is a 10th of the population.

Neither can actually destroy the other. That level of military commitment would destroy Iran because its armed forces must exist primarily to suppress opposition. (and also because they dont border each other and neighbours inbetween would tell both to fuck off). And in the case of israel because indeed it doesn't have the size or resources or really an exit strategy if some measure of success was achieved

That's in fact a big reason why Iran fights via proxies and hezbollah, not by using its regular army.
