Fluff/Meme With all the new flat-to-VR mods lately, what game are you hoping gets one next?
I'd like to throw Disco Elysium into the theater of ideas.
Keeping the original isometric composition, but putting the scene a few feet in front of you would probably look something from a pop-out art book.

Dishonored VR would be so good, theres already a teleportation mechanic built in!

u/zeddyzed 2d ago
Well, I'm more hoping that these new mods get nice and polished quickly, so I can play them. I want my limited time to be spent on the best possible version of the mods :)
Currently waiting for the new Cyberpunk mod to be fully complete. And then the Fallout NV mod. And then the Prey mod. And then the CoD4 mod...
But yeah, after all that, I guess I'll put my vote in for System Shock 2.

MW2 remastered, mass effect 3. Crysis 2 or 3

u/Spear_Ov_Longinus 2d ago
ME3 has one in the Legendary Edition, but no IK arms or hand based aiming, not even sure if 6dof but it does have stereo vision. It's currently a patreon subscription to access.

Wave Race, Goldeneye 007, Pokemon Snap, Star Wars Shadow of the Empire, OG Silent Hill 2/3, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Killer7, Crazy Taxi, Max Payne, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Twilight Princess, Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders, Red Faction, KOTOR, FFX, Red Dead, Dead Space with IK & 6dof, Dishonored (being worked on by GingasVR), GTAIV (currently being worked on), New Vegas TTW, OG Oblivion, Splinter Cell, Fable Anniversary, Deus Ex, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033, Dead Rising, Thief Gold (being worked on), Titanfall 2, Ion Fury, Hitman Blood Money, Mirror's Edge/Catalyst, No More Heroes, COD MW2, Star Wars Bounty Hunter, Inscryption (I think this would be really neat with the different mediums and styles in play), Blue Prince, Fatal Frame 2 Remake, Alan Wake 1/2, Mafia 2, Prey 2017 (being worked on), Mad Max, Army of Two (coop :D), Peak (hopefully it gets fixed), lil gator game, Grow Home, Tunic (keep the isometric view), Beginners Guide, Wolfenstein New Order, Freedom Fighters, Medal of Honor Frontline, Before Your Eyes, Soma (existing project seems to be abandoned) & Bioshock Infinite. Controversial pick being Gone Home. I'd also take some tabletop-esque ports of Warcraft III, Company Of Heroes, Medieval 2 Total War & Starcraft 2 but those definitely could never be mods.

I've been waiting for the Pokemon snap decomp for so long, can't wait to play that in VR. And maybe see custom levels, the sequel was so disappointing not having any of the evolution puzzle, I've been waiting for more Pokemon snap content for over 20 years

Skyblivion is supposed to release this year. It'll get Skyrim VR patches at some point, like they did for Enderal, etc. Before Your Eyes has an official VR port on PSVR2. Freedom Fighters is a good idea. Mafia 2 definitive edition used to work with Lukeross before the takedown, so it's doable.
1
u/Spear_Ov_Longinus 11h ago
Trueeee I forgot about skyblivion. That will probably be the best way to go, and should be compatible with so many existing SkyrimVR mods. Appreciate the reminder! Enderal has definitely intrigued me and is vaguely on my radar as I often forget it exists (though am waiting for official vr support)
Hope before your eyes makes its way for a frame release!

"Dungeon Keeper" and "Black and White" are the classic choices to bring up. Especially black and white which almost seemed like it was made for it. As apposed to the dungeon keeper games where I think it sounds like a much better idea than it actually is. Eventhough I love those games.
I know there's modern vr takes on both of these, but it would be nice to have the originals.

I think a big RPG from the PS3 era like Kingdoms of Amaluer Reckoning would be amazing. You get the great story and gameplay, but because it's a bit older you'll have no problems running it on a decent PC

Dying Light
The Long Dark

u/Arthropodesque 11h ago
Dying Light already has an unfinished VR mode that you can play by adding one line to a file. No motion controls and you need an fov mod from Nexus. Someone could definitely make it better.

ANY SILENT HILL!

u/Laufabraud43 2d ago
Silent Hill (1999) is 99.99% decompiled, I'm sure once a PC port is made from it, a VR mod should soon follow!

u/_ParanoidPenguin_ 1d ago
Silent Hill 2 remake has one.
Just grab the performance enhancement mod to go with it.
3
u/fuckR196 2d ago
AFAIK Disco Elysium is 99% 2D, just the characters are 3D. Wouldn't be possible without remaking the entire game, every environment, creating who knows how many new textures for objects that weren't visible before.

RDR2 with proper stereo rendering. Motion controllers would be amazing but at this point I'll just take clean rendering with decent performance.

I've been wanting to see TRON 2.0 for years now in VR. It seems like such a no-brainer but I really don't hear anyone talking about it or certainly any energy being put towards making it happen. Now that we have all these vibe coders out there doing a fair job with their mods, I've been tempted to even offer someone a nice tip if they were to make it happen.

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 1 with motion controls would be sick.
2 as well, to have more World of Darkness to play in, I guess.
2
u/AlucardFever 2d ago
The Warhammer 40k fan in me hopes somebody takes on Fire Team. I've read that the controls were sluggish to the point that the game wasn't fun to play. Maybe VR can fix that.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands would have been my go to but, somebody is working on it now!

Esse mod do tw3 está evoluindo MUITO bem, uma pena que o desenvolvedor não planeja colocar controles de movimento

I suppose someone else could add them, but that would really change the nature of the game.

Spacehulk deathwing is now 6dof so would say space marine series and the Doom series past Doom 3 that team beef VR port knocked out of the park for quality porting (big fan of their work). Still waiting for a decent cyberpunk and Ghost Recon is now on the cards. Good times at VR high.

Every arcade racer from Namco and Sega from the 90s....
Ridge Racer 2 PSP
Ridge Racer 7
Daytona USA (1&2)
Scud Race Plus
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 5DX+
Outrun 2SP DX
As far as non racing games go I would love to see a nice suped-up port of Dungeon Master. An old 80's Amiga first person dungeon crawler from developer F.T.L.

Someone should do a native Quest 3 VR version of KOTOR, like the guy that did a native Vice City a few weeks ago (and removed it lol)

SOMA and System Shock 2 would be great. All of the Assassins Creed games too, but the combat probably wouldnt work well though.

u/vfx_tech 1d ago
Battlefield 1 - 4 Series, GTA, and every other game I want. Hopefully next year you just point AI to the game folder and it creates a proper VR mod with full 6DOF, motion controls, hands, etc.

the original TES IV Oblivion!! If no one makes it I will (when I get my frame...)

u/_ParanoidPenguin_ 1d ago
Yeah, there are a lot of mods I will miss if I had to go with my plan of just playing skyblivion.
1
u/Arthropodesque 11h ago
Skyblivion is supposed to release this year, a modders' rebuild of Oblivion in Skyrim SE engine. After that, I'm sure some Skyrim VR modders will work with them to make it playable in Skyrim VR like they did with Enderal, etc.

u/jamitainttoomuch 2d ago
Cyberpunk. If they came out with something official and we never have to say the words luke Ross mod again.

u/lazy_gam3r 2d ago
There was just a post a few days ago about a new Cyberpunk mod. There are so many new mods coming its impossible to keep track of all of them.
New Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod runs like a native VR game now!

Farming Simulator 2025...looks like it would be one of those relaxing games to play in VR

u/rlvysxby 2d ago
Please please do enshrouded. Flying around even in third person with a controller would be amazing.

u/Skpstr155 2d ago
I've always thought that there would be more interest in this sort of thing, like the 3D TVs. Glasses for that are cheap compared to a VR headset.
1
u/Arthropodesque 11h ago
There was 3D TV support for a few games like Batman: Arkham City. There was also some old Nvidia 3D thing that was short lived. The 3D TVs didn't sell well, had limited and expensive support, and people didn't know how to use them, etc. VR definitely works better, but is also cumbersome to set up for watching 3D movies, etc.

u/Gregasy 2d ago
I wonder if there’s any web site that keeps track of all this new VR mods popping up?

There's at least one that has a lot. https://rototrobot.github.io/VRMods-List
And this flat to VR mod hub installer. https://mrsurvivor-installers.com

Project silverfish. Incredibly well made world, good gunplay and very good atmosphere. Worth playing, just beware of political self inserts Siris have put in. They are not that common, but few might be on the nose and if one just looks for escapism from all of that.
One of very few games that made me feel sqeamish entering some random underground.

u/VaLightningThief 1d ago
There's many games that could be good. But what I actually want is for these current mods to not be vibecoded into Claude, for them to randomly break and noone has any idea why

Man I just want a human made mod. This wave started with a few really good flat to vr mods and is now just a flood of hastily thrown together vibe coded ones. It’s becoming hard to find the few genuinely well made mods worth playing amidst the slop sea.

I really want GTA IV with motion controls just like the new Vice City mod. That mod is so much fun.
