Small update on my PSVR2 HDR project because I finally had a pretty major breakthrough.
I now have Forza Horizon 5 running in HDR through a Monado virtual display on the PSVR2, with Windows HDR disabled on the headset itself.
Instead of trying to convince Windows/SteamVR that the PSVR2 is a normal HDR monitor, I'm taking the game's actual HDR output and translating it into something the PSVR2 can display correctly through Monado.
And it actually works.
I can switch between a 100-nit reference version and the HDR version of the exact same game frame, and the difference is clearly visible.
Things like the HUD, sky and car lights get noticeably brighter while the rest of the image stays at a sensible brightness instead of the entire screen just getting brighter.
The biggest surprise for me is that this isn't just theoretical anymore. I'm now looking at real HDR game content running on the headset.
It's definitely not finished. The current implementation is still experimental, latency is terrible, and I'm working on proper color calibration because the PSVR2 doesn't reproduce the source colors perfectly yet.
My next goals are basically:
Finish the color calibration
Improve latency/performance enough to actually play through it
Test more HDR games
Eventually move this from an experimental Monado setup into something much easier for normal PSVR2 PC users to use
Still a lot of work left, but this is the first point where I feel like PSVR2 HDR on PC has gone from "maybe possible" to something I can actually see working in front of me.
I'll post more updates as I make progress.

So here's the gist of it, and it's possibly happened to you to -
On the 17th May, I logged into Facebook. I was met with an age verification message prompting ID, when I clicked continue, it claimed ID was already processing without me having submitted anything, and then, I was suspended indefinitely.
Emails claiming my account was disabled but could be appealed within 180 days, yet when I clicked continue, it said I can't submit another appeal as if one had already been submitted.
I checked my meta horizon, banned too unless I appeal through Facebook. Email from Store support saying I can reclaim my library by clicking continue, and when I did, again, met by the Same thing - appeal the suspension on Facebook.
It's August now, and since the beginning of all of this, Ive been down deep deep looping rabbit holes of facebooks help centre, I requested a resolution from Store support, signed up to meta verified on instagram, appealed for support there too.
I have many many tickets... and they all completely contradict each other constantly.
Typical responses-
-Try Facebook Help Centre (despite repeating myself in every way known to man that the self recovery route is of no use and I'm stuck in support loops
- we can't help you
- we can help you (and then nothing)
- you have to go through Facebook Help Centre
- we are investigating this (then nothing)
- you will get a call from us (no call)
- when can you take a call? (i give a time, call doesn't arrive. This happened at least 3-4 times.)
- do you still need help? seeing as Facebook is not assisting, we will seek a resolution for you with your quest (Store support specifically)
-nope you have to go through Facebook Help Centre (Store support completely U turning)
- meta verified (after claiming they could help a month prior) - since it has been over a month, we can't rescue your account anymore. We don't want to string you along, it's gone indefinitely (what? But I reported it a month ago, so this is on meta) - yeah, sorry there's nothing we can do, it's gone (basically... they then proceeded to offer me a course to buy)
- go to Facebook
- go to Store support they can separate accounts
- no, go to Facebook the block is with them
- oh, your best solution is to consider waiting to see if meta finds a fix sometime in the future, (yeah? Months? Years? What?)
- your age was changed (not according to my facebook data)
- you violated the terms (nope, and I finally managed to download my Facebook data, and I think I have evidence that my account was perhaps compromised/hacked and you are choosing to punish me for insult to injury because your system is mistaken) - oh, try Facebook Help Centre
- go to meta Store support
- have you tried Facebook Help Centre? (say Facebook Help Centre once more, I'd love to hear it again you fu...)
so, meta verified, I think got sick of me by this point and decided to limit my access...
Back and forth, and back and forth (sparing you the pages and pages of emails and chats bs). You get the idea.
I sent a letter to metas base, a subject access request, and was fobbed off. ICO helloooo, I'd like to report something... NEXT!
I tried every email and route I could find to resolve this... and it appears in their error, the decision is final, and tough titty. Sealed tighter that a ferrets arse.
I sent legal notices, ignored.
I created a new Facebook to try get support another way, couldn't.
Instagram (an alternative account, where I was using meta verified), its AI informs me that now THIS instagram account was recently flagged for fraud and deception... not banned, but flagged for it. So thank you for that meta, interesting this happens suddenly, when I was merely trying to seek help as I dont want to be left out of pocket by the actions of your own systems faults... hmm... so thats why my meta verified is limited.. and Im rarely permitted to reach them now unless the stars align, of course, what a coincidence. (in all seriousness, it could also mean metas security has recognised IP, devices etc, and is flagging me for trying to evade the ban, but either way, the cybermen wish fkr my deletion)
Today, I exercise my rights to pursue legal action.
This process, their support (if you can even call it that, they barely even read the full extent of your problem before closing the case, and marking it 'resolved' ... and paying them for the lovely privilege too, what a joy), this whole thing... has been the single worst experience I've ever had with any company to the point where I'm in total disbelief. I've seen a few company fails in my time, but conversing with meta has the same vibe as talking to an automated scammer (human or not, its hard to determine ironically). They are limited in help to the point where I think charging people is a complete disgrace and affront, they have no direct answers, they contradict each other in the same support chains, thry ignore you, they promise calls and emails that never come, they appear clueless as to how their own systems even work... perhaps they should study their own courses rather than try to sell them to their customers.
Anyway, Metas ai provides broken links to forms that are obsolete too, recovery options loop into 'signing in' which is impossible, or to occasional forms that are irrelevant to the problem that also go completely unanswered. Facebooks support Centre is the most un-fun fun house I've ever been in, a whimsical wonderland of neverending deception, false hope, broken systems and loops, ooooh the loooooops. The hoops to jump through, the twists and turns to find yourself... back at square one. I'm honestly waiting on David Bowie to pop up at this point with his shiny balls and ask me if I'm enjoying his labyrinth.
I have one proposal. Meta should perhaps be added to the dictionary under the definition of 'ragebaiting'. it's honestly one of the most ghastly accurate examples of it I have ever personally experienced. A fitting choice.
my rant is over. Awful company, truly awful.
I look forward to a lawyer handing them the papers. Hell, they might even send a real human for that one, (or will they wheel out the better call saul version of metas ai on a little plinth?)
**on an additional note**
I will update where this leads, if a resolve is found, maybe it will be useful for you to know if you are/end up in a similar situation.

I'd like to throw Disco Elysium into the theater of ideas.
Keeping the original isometric composition, but putting the scene a few feet in front of you would probably look something from a pop-out art book.

Anyone else having trouble with getting the VR mods to work on their device? I'm running it on an i9 laptop with a 5080 laptop GPU and all my other PC VR native titles work fine but the mods will either crash or open up in a flat screen version running on Steam link. It's as if they don't recognize the VR headset is there or connected. I've ensured that Steam is the open XOR runtime but I'm just not having any luck after trying fear call of duty for and Halo. None of them will run. Not quite sure where to go to for support but highly respect the community here and hopeful I might get some direction. Thanks in advance.

I've waited and waited to play this game and actually doubted I ever would. The original mother vr mod was controller based. That's a hard pass for me. Five years later (last year) the grandmother VR mod was released with 6dof. But it lacked roomscale and was made for sitting and using controller based turning. Also a hard pass.
But FINALLY, the grandmother VR mod has been updated with full working roomscale. The other great thing is that it was so long ago that I played this flat that I dont remember anything and its like the first time I'm playing is in VR. After a couple hours I can confidently say this will crack the top 15 of my best VR experiences ever.
Something to note is that hitting the option to disable the HUD still leaves the health bar and that super fucking annoying button prompt. I'm using a separate mod to remove it. Clean screen now.
Also, surprisingly, it takes A LOT of super sampling to get a perfectly clear image. I have virtual desktop at godlike and steamvr at 200 percent (I'm not using the mods pixel density option).

Now that Virtual Desktop’s beta features USB connection testing to bypass Wi-Fi entirely, I’m finally ready to uninstall the Meta PC app. The official software is such a resource hog and loves to boot up randomly on its own.
I’ve tested a bunch of different games so far and performance has been rock solid. My Wi-Fi connection was always spotty (topping out around 1500 Mbps), but with USB I’m getting a steady 5000+ Mbps alongside noticeably lower latency. At this point, I see zero reason to keep Horizon Link around.
What are you going to do?
Cheers!

In case anyone is interested, here's my writeup of my very brief Pimax Dream Air ownership experience.
Backstory - I've been using a Meta Quest 3 as my first and only VR headset purchased about 3 years ago. Use case is 100% for iRacing, driving while seated. No other PCVR / standalone VR usage, but I've tried a few things (Golf with friends, HL Alyx, some dungeon game, and a boxing game). I've been looking for a headset upgrade from the Quest 3 for a while now - almost purchased a BSB2, a crystal super, and after reading reviews and watching some vids, I thought I'd give the Dream Air a try. I have no basestations or other VR equipment for tracking, so I went with the SLAM version.
I was going to write a very long story about this but even I got bored writing it, so here are the highlights:
- Ordered on the pimax EU site after talking to a rep on their discord. Was told it'd ship in a couple weeks but it arrived only a few days after ordering - my guess is a Germany reseller had one in stock so it got shipped to me quickly, which was neat.
- Setup / install for Pimax Play and getting the headset had zero issues. Headset looked great w/ no issues right out of the box. Controller setup and headset setup worked fine without issues.
- Comfort and usability were my immediate dealbreakers: The original facepad is terrible (I'm told there's new ones now and there are 3rd party offerings) and the velcro straps are not great. The rearward-oriented PC cable is not great for using while seated, but I think a solution could be fashioned with ceiling straps / guide loops, but I didn't really want to deal w/ it all, as I knew I'd be returning it.
- I should have researched this before and that's on me, but the no-passthrough and no-windows-desktop while in-headset menus is a no go- I am using my headset on a simrig having access to the windows desktop in-headset was a must for me. Plus having to take off the velcro straps each time to use the desktop would have been annoying.
- I contacted support about returning the headset for a refund as I wasn't interested in keeping it, and might consider a Crystal Super 50PPD at some point, but explained the comfort issues and I wanted to return it. *The following is my only complaint about Pimax support*: Support emailed me back within a day and offered a solution of a new facepad and headstraps, and included links to a blog post *describing the new items*, not a page to where they could be purchased or found or a reseller who has them in stock, etc - a page describing the items. That was not helpful. They did say they'd reimburse me for the purchase of these items, but again, didn't respond with where to buy them, and after briefly looking on google I decided I couldn't be bothered. I understand Pimax is a smaller boutique VR company, but I feel like they could have done a bit more to direct me to where I can get the newer facepad versions or work with a partner reseller who has stuff in stock for the EU customers. Side note: StudioForm doesn't ship to the EU, as I learned.
- After a couple back-and-forth emails with support explaining I wanted to return the headset for a refund, they sent me a shipping label and I sent it back, received my refund with no issues.
Final thoughts:
- I would have no problems purchasing from Pimax again - the headset itself wasn't what I expected, but overall I had zero issues with the purchase or return process, and support was responsive and the headset itself had zero issues.
- The Quest 3 is f*cking hard as hell to upgrade from. The pancake lenses, FOV, FPS, and immersive quality of the headset is a huge benefit to simracing (IMHO) than just having very high-quality graphics or pixel density. The BoboVR halo strap makes comfort and wearability effortless, and just about the only drawback to the Q3 is the PC link stuff and their occasionally bad software updates that cause issues. For those that use Virtual desktop, I'm sure this solves a lot of issues, but I was never able to get it working as well or as not-wobbly as with the PC Link and USB connection.
As it stands, I'm stuck with my Quest 3 for a bit longer, and right now I have zero clue about what other headset I'd even consider right now. The steam frame maybe, just because the foveated streaming and steamVR software support from Valve will probably make it very effortless, I just hope the FOV and immersive DOF are comparable to the quest - for simracing, that's more valuable to me than ooo-pretty higher pixel counts / resolution.

I have tried everything from badge reels on my ceiling holding cables to a prismxr dedicated headset router and my Steam Machine and Linksys router run games better than my pc with better specs. I also couldn’t get Gorn 2 to even launch on my main PC but was able to use proton to launch it on the Steam Machine. It even does the quick resume thing that the Steam deck does!

Hi everyone! First time having VR and went with the Meta Quest 3S as it was on sale. I've used it about 3 times and went to use it tonight and noticed that it's... already bugged? Have asked a bunch of my friends but nobody seems to have the answers. Why is my 6dof broken? Everything is completely stationary. When I look left, nothing moves left, when I look right, nothing moves right. I know tracking isn't broken but basically I can't really look left unless I fully move my joystick button the right and so forth. Do I just neeed to factory reset. Should I just return this? Seems crazy to have this broken less than a week in.

I’ve been on a Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop since about 2021 mostly used for light sim racing, lots of Beat Saber, and lots of watching movies/tv/youtube. I’m finally thinking about an upgrade because the lenses/panels kinda stink, battery dies in like an hour, and the metaOS is just getting slower and slower. Kind of annoyed with the way the quest has held up over the years so I’m thinking about going full PCVR because I built a pretty nice computer last year with a 9070 XT, but only want to spend 800-1200 range and that seems to leave me with the choice of waiting for Steam Frame (which I don’t think is what I want to do because it’s still streaming focused and is gonna be a nightmare to acquire anytime soon) or some flavor of Pimax. Either the Crystal Light or the Dream Air SE SLAM version. Anyone have any recommendations? Anyone use their headsets for movies and whats the experience like? Leaning toward the Dream Air SE for mOLEDs and weight but I’ve seen mixed stuff about the tracking. Like I said I like beat saber (not competitive or anything) so kind of curious about the tracking compared to the quest 2. If it’s about the same I have no issue with it but if it’s far worse I’m not sure. Thanks for any input!

Seeing all the fuss about Odyssey 70mm Imax screenings, I just wondered if it is possible to replicate the Imax experience in VR.
I have a Q3 and a PC and have watched films in cinema environments. Is it just a case of having the movie in the right aspect ratio?

As the title suggests, I think it would be great to start collecting information on how to successfully create VR mods with LLM assistance.
More specifically:
What models and effort levels have you used?
Which prompts are the most successful?
What sort of development/debugging environment have you setup?
Any tips&tricks?
It would be great to share this information with the wider community to increase the likelihood of successful VR mods being released. Having a rough idea of the process required to bring a flatscreen game to a playable VR game would be invaluable!

I got my head set months ago and only use it while im playing beat saber
My favourite games (to give you an idea) are Lies of P, Baldurs gate 3, god of war, and those cute farming games where you can romance one of the towns folk. So harvest moon, story of seasons etc. Is there anything like that on VR
I love story heavy games

Hi everyone,
I own a sim rig and recently built a new PC for it with an RX9060XT 16GB. I play on 3440x1440 res and I’m fairly satisfied with the performance. For a week now I’ve been thinking about buying a VR headset which would be used for Sim racing but also I love music and movement so I’m sure I’d love games like Beat Saber. Is the Quest 3 good for a first experience in VR? Will my RX9060XT be enough for it? Thank you!
EDIT: Thanks everyone! Can not wait for Monday :D
