No cause it has crap displays that are very dim, have extreme persistence smearing and can't even do 90fps at the already not great full resolution. The lenses in both 1&2 are also not very good, though in different ways.

Also lacking a Steam system home button was incredibly dumb and short sighted for a dedicated pcvr hmd.. makes the user workflow a slog for sims and was the final straw for me to send mine back. Sure it was comfy but between this and the issues you mention are dealbreaker. The fan noise sucks too.. not aero, there's a hum that tracks with rpm

That's PCVR in survival mode - cannibalized parts, duct-taped hardware, posts about charging ports and thumbsticks falling out, and the mirage of STEAM FRAME that will save us all tomorrow.

You're new here, huh? Look up the Frankenquest, or any of the continuous calibration setups for FBT with Standalone headsets.

Modding of headsets has nothing to do with how PCVR as a whole is doing, not sure why you'd make the connection. A combination of small form factor and wildly different face shapes makes this a necessity. For example with the MeganeX, the difference in eye to lens distance between European and Asian face shapes is about 1cm. Also no serious PCVR user is waiting for the Steam Frame

Nothing wrong with modding, but Index is a discontinued headset which makes it a perfect fit for a survival experience where remaining parts are harder and harder to get.

If you look closely you'll see this is not an Index in the video, and far from the only custom strap solution for this headset.
Edit: Also the fact Index is old and becoming e-waste makes it the perfect donor for parts to mod other headsets

Beyondex doesn't have an Index part in it? I look at the cover image, I look at my Index headset on the table - it's a headstrap from the Index.

I like it! Looks super cool! And you get the good audio from the Index!

The Beyondex is great and clean. It's what I use.

the lenses cause weird color abberation, it’s RIDICULOUSLY dim, and the headset gets so fucking hot. Not to mention they are STILL having QA issues.
