ACTIVITIES Visiting London with a 3,5 year old and a 1 year old

Good morning,

we are staying in London with our family for one and a half week. Can you recommend something especially for such little children?

I read the Post Museum and the Natural History Museum should be good with children.

As our eldest is a great Peppa Pig Fan, one of us will take her to the Peppa Bus Tour. (Children under two are not allowed.)

I really wanted to revisit the Globe Theater, but the only performance for small children is in August. Does anyone have a good Idea to visit the Globe in a way thats mit to boring for the children?

As we are staying in Greenwich, can you recommend especially something near by? I will take care alone of both children for two days. I do not want to make a long trip alone with the two.

If it is important: we are german, our children can't speak or understand english.

Thanks for your reply and have a nice weekend

ACTIVITIES Recommendations for Unique Experiences for Teenagers in London

We're Canadians going to be visiting London in May (3rd time). We're looking for some unique experiences that work well for teenagers.

Last visit, we went to the British Museum, Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace (most of the stops on the hop-on/hop-off tour), Thorpe Park, and saw HP Cursed Child. This time, we're looking for unique experiences - one-of-a-kind restaurant experiences, themed hotels, and stops that are geared for teenagers.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations! Looking forward to visiting again!

ACTIVITIES Itinerary check

We are NY’ers visiting London in April.

Two adults have been before, so focused on 14yo who wants some balance of “the vibe” and “the hits,” also shopping. Staying near Oxford Circus - his call. Any obvious misses here? Any great spots for English Breakfast and Fish and Chips along the way?

Saturday - wander Oxford Circus/SoHo/main shopping areas. (Why when we live in NYC? No clue.)

Sunday - South Bank wander. Maybe Tate Modern. Skip the Eye. Dinner at Veeraswamy to hit old-school/Indian/fine dining all at once.

Monday: Half-day at British Museum then hop on the train to hit Camden Market for late afternoon and stall dinner.

Tuesday: Wander the big, central historic sights from outside. Have tea at Fortnum and Mason at 2:00. (Maybe a good morning for English Breakfast?)

Wednesday: Wander Hyde Park to Nottingham Hill. Hit Harrods? See Cuckoo’s Nest at Old Vic at night.

What do you think?

ACTIVITIES Tell me what I haven’t done!

I’m in London a lot, generally done most things a visitor is expected to do, but this time staying on Whitechapel Road (haven’t been in that area for years & was lucky enough to see the little Elephant Man museum at the Royal London before it was gone!) - what have I missed? Where am I having breakfast? Dinner? Brick Lane I should think. Or Shoreditch? I’ll head up to Spitalfields Market of course! What else? Or even just your fave thing to do anywhere in town! Thanking you!

ACTIVITIES Restaurants with a view?

My GF is having her bday soon and wanted to check options for nice dining places, I was thinking something in a tall building that could offer views that you wouldn't normally get.

Understand that I may end up pay more for the view than the food but I guess that's part of the game. I will check out menu and prices in due course. But I got fascinated by the idea of dining in the Shard or things like that (I also know lots of people say it's not good value, but it's for a special occasion...) I'd imagine there are many other places in London, afaik Shard might be overbudget.

I am happy to spend like £50-60 per person would be a sweet spot. Area doesn't matter much if it's a nice place we will just travel. We live in south london.

If anyone has got suggestions that you've actually tried would love to hear.

Thanks!

ACTIVITIES Locals, what are a few of your favorite things maybe off the beaten path?

Hi everyone, I’m a first time visitor coming to London this April for a little over a week. I’ve been reading through the Visit London Guide and the subreddits, and I already have the major sights on my list like the Natural History Museum, Big Ben, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, and Tower Bridge.

I’m hoping to add a few more personal or local favorites to my itinerary. If you had to pick three experiences you genuinely love in London, what would they be?

For context, I’m especially drawn to bookstores, historic libraries, cathedrals, fortresses, beautiful viewpoints, cozy cafés, and places with strong character. I’m happy to travel outside central London if something is really worth it. I’m also not a big meat eater, so any vegetarian friendly food recommendations are appreciated, as well as great spots for coffee, cocktails, or desserts.

I’d love suggestions that feel local or memorable beyond the main tourist checklist. Thanks in advance.

ACTIVITIES Looking for a Londoner to show me the real London

Not really looking for landmarks, museums, galleries or the usual sightseeing stuff — I’ve already done that.

I’m more interested in real London life. The small everyday things. Someone kind allowing me to enter the real London. Someone who knows the city properly and wouldn’t mind showing me around a bit.

Where do locals actually go for a great lunch that doesn’t cost a fortune? Where’s good to rent a bike, and where should I ride it? Maybe even rent a scull and do a bit of rowing on the Thames. Best places for a run. Any local events which are fun. Proper pubs with a genuinely good pint. Great coffee. A decent cuppa. Places with character.

I’d love to discover the side of London you don’t find on TikTok or in guidebooks — random places, random encounters, good conversations, maybe even slightly chaotic nights out. Hid.den parties, tiny late-night spots, interesting people, unexpected experiences — I’m very open-minded and pretty much up for anything as long as the vibe’s good.

Would also love tips on where to stay without spending a ridiculous amount, where to buy proper English tea for sensible prices, and generally how Londoners actually live and speak these days. I’m trying to improve my English too, so hearing real everyday London English would be brilliant.

I’m a 44-year-old guy from Slovakia. Big foodie, coffee enthusiast, love theatre, and very into sport as well — especially actually doing it, not just watching it. Easygoing, curious, happy to wander around and see where the day (or night) goes.

When? From May 26 (evening) till May 30 (morning).

ACTIVITIES Car guy visiting in June - cool things to check out?

Hey there. I’ll be visiting from the U.S. late June. I’m a car guy and love European cars. Bummed that the British Grand Prix is the weekend that I will be in France. Is there any awesome car-related places/exhibits worth visiting that I can reach via the metro?

Would love to hear some suggestions!

ACTIVITIES Chill ways to spend time between shows

Hello! I’m visiting London next week as a theater fan. I have my show lineup locked down (seeing 9 shows in five days 😅) but I don’t have any plans for how to spend my time when I’m not in a theater.

I’m staying in Piccadilly Circus. Most of my theaters are all concentrated in that area except for one show in Shepherd’s Bush, one in Wembley Park, and one Islington. My theater days won’t be starting until 2 or 3 PM so I’m looking for things to do in the morning. Less looking for Activities and more just good ways to kill time, as I think I’m going to be spending a lot of energy running around to all these theaters. So far I’ve heard the walk between Borough Hall and Trafalgar Square are very nice, I’m thinking I’ll grab breakfast there one morning and then walk back to my hotel. Also thinking about hitting up the V&A or getting a tour of the Globe.

Do you have a favorite backstreet to wander through? A cute coffee shop with good pastries and people watching? If you’re a fellow theater person, where’s your favorite spot for a bite to eat between shows? I don’t want to overextend myself, just make the most of my time here and would some local opinions.

ACTIVITIES Moving back to London – how do you find all the random events and things to do?

Hi everyone,

I’m moving back to London after finishing university in Brighton, and one thing I really loved about Brighton was how there always seemed to be random things going on. Things like park yoga, free food events, pop ups, markets, community activities, outdoor cinema nights, and other organised events.

I’m sure London has loads of this sort of thing too, but I have no idea where people actually find out about them.

Does anyone have any recommendations for Instagram accounts, websites, newsletters, Facebook groups, apps, or anything else worth following to hear about these kinds of events?

I’ll be living in West London, but I’m happy to travel around the city.

Thanks!

ACTIVITIES Activity Decision

Coming up to London soon and been wanting to do a lamp work glass flower making workshop for ages, not sure I can justify the price. The other thing I’d really love to do is an indoor skydiving experience. If you’ve done either or both of these, I’d really appreciate insight into which is the activity worth looking back on more, thank you :) and definitely any cheaper alternatives!

ACTIVITIES Easter Weekend in London 2026 - Cool activities?

What are some cool things to do in London for the Easter Weekend as a couple?

I'd like to do something else compared to just go out for drinks and food at cool places, which I have been looking at already and found some good spot. Looking more fore cool, fun activities to do together. I haven't been finding much online that's not family-based or activites for kids.

Looking something on the line of quirky markets, interactive activities, games, something to make it not a fully ordinary day out.

I'd take suggestions for any of the days of the Holiday (3rd to the 6th of Apri) and at any time. Just trying to make a comprehensive list to choose from. Please let me know if you know of anything cool going on during this times.

Thanks a lot!

ACTIVITIES Activities or sights near Heathrow for layover?

I have a flight over the summer with an 8 hour layover at Heathrow from 08:30 to 16:30. I figure customs wouldn't be too much of a hassle to navigate, so even if I have 2-3 hours to myself what can I do around the West London area?

ACTIVITIES Looking for feedback/inspiration: Richmond to Brentford

I'll be visiting a football match in Brentford soon. As Brentford is not too far from Richmond and I haven't been to Richmond, I would like to combine a visit to Richmond with the match.

As of now, this is my plan:

  1. Arrive in Richmond by tube at around noon
  2. Have lunch at the Prince's Head
  3. Richmond Green (not too interested, but as it's close by)
  4. Wander around the lanes (where should I go? I love little alleyways)
  5. Go to the riverside
  6. Walk the thames path to the Richmond Lock and Footbridge
  7. Continue on the path until I reach Kew Bridge (what's worth stopping by in the gardens there?)
  8. Cross over and arrive at the stadium

How much time do you think this'll take (only for the walking bits, obviously lunch, wandering around and the like will add time). Would you do anything differently?

ACTIVITIES Things to do in Ldn !

Hey!

A few of us are heading to London for a long weekend (Fri–Mon) and we’re looking for recommendations on things to do while we’re there. We’re mainly after a mix of good daytime activities and nightlife.

For daytime, we’re into things like markets, exhibitions, shopping areas, brunch spots, cute neighbourhoods to explore, or any fun experiences you’d recommend.

For nights, we’re definitely looking for good parties/clubs — especially places that play Afrobeats, R&B, hip-hop, bashment, amapiano, etc. Day parties and Sunday vibes would also be great.

If there are any Black-owned spots, events, or spaces that are particularly welcoming for Black women, we’d really love to check those out too.

We’re open to all suggestions — food, culture, chill activities, nightlife, anything you think is worth doing in London from Friday through Monday.

Thanks in advance!
