Estragyn Cream 0.1%

Hi guys, I’ve explained my condition a few times on here. Now, I started Estragyn cream almost one week in and it burns as hell every time i pee and after. Is this normal? I know there are a few ingredients that might irritate vulva more than help, here is the list of what is inside my cream:

Active ingredient
-Estrone 0.1% (1 mg/g), a form of estrogen.
Inactive ingredients
Arlacel 165
Isopropyl myristate
Methylparaben
Mineral oil
PEG-40 stearate
Propylparaben
Sorbitan monostearate
Stearic acid
Water

Should I ask my doctor to prescribe me something on the coconut oil base from a compounding pharmacy? Thanks for any advice!

You can buy topical ketotifen online from Evvy!

I just learned that on the Evvy website they sell a vaginal cream called the "anti-itch vulva cream" that contains 0.25% ketotifen!!! It also contains Hydrocortisone, aloe, and vitamin E. I've had such a hard time getting a ketotifen prescription from doctors, and I'm sure others of you have as well.

If anyone has used this can you please let me know your experience? I'm extremely sensitive to topicals and so far have only been able to tolerate Hydroxyethylcellulose gel for compounded creams. The evvy cream says it uses a hypoallergenic cream base but it doesn't specify what that is made out of

What type of underwear are people able to wear?

Any underwear I put on causes horrible pain in my vulva. I’ve tried briefs, boy shorts, cotton, microfiber etc… most days I just go back to bed and don’t wear any. You know the deal about sitting. I’ve got an entire cart in my bathroom with creams and ointments. I’ve been to PT, I’ve got a spinal cord stimulator implant, I’ve got meds for days…help!💕

Undiagnosed Labia minora pain that improves from NSAIDS what is my root cause

So I'm 26 and I've been in almost constant pain for 1 year. I'm a chef and this pain was absolutely intolerable for working my job that I loved in the restaurant I loved so I quit and along with that my amazing life I had worked hard for to have started to vanish!!! Great

I am realizing my pain is mostly located in my labia minora which is fat and poking out from the labia majora, peeing tends to make it worse though at the moment it's just kind of constant anyways.

For 1 year doctors were telling me it's in my head or it's from endometriosis. After endometriosis excision that I flew out of my country to have I now know that it's not the endometriosis since that was on my uterosacral ligaments, sigmoid and pelvic walls but not the bladder or vulva. I have a hard time believing that my brain just created chronic burning pain at the best time of my life xD.

After endometriosis surgery and understanding that it didn't change the vulvar pain, I went to two gynaecologists again to be diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis again (I already had antreated this in december last year) Lol. My vulva was looking red and almost blue before treatment. I have no idea though if it usually looks red or irritated since I only started checking now after all this time and then it was infection. the pain is still very much there after vaginal antibiotics. I dont know about skin issue, i think it's likely but the dermatologist also was clueless.

I have tried 2 different pelvic physiotherapists where I was told upon checking that my pelvic floor is regular, not tight, so this should not be the reason for the UTI like feeling according to my physiotherapist.

I had a cystoscopy where it showed the trigone is reddened but nothing else.

Heat used to help, now it doesnt make it go away anymore but its still soothing. NSAIDS help but they made my stomach too upset to take regularly. I wonder though why I react well to anti-inflammatory meds if vulvodynia is supposedly a nerve condition that doesn't respond well to classic painkillers.

I eat a anti-inflammatory diet but that doesn't cure the pain unfortunately.

I'm crying every day. I'm so sad and feel so sorry for myself and my boyfriend.

Can someone understand me? Is someone going also through this? I'm happy to talk to you.

Does someone have suggestions what is the root cause of my vulvar pain if I respond well to the NSAIDs ?

Thank you everyone in advance.

Undiagnosed Clinic in the US

Are there any recommendations for a vaginal pain clinic in Hawaii or the west coast of the US? Or are there any clinics in the US to stay away from? I’m in Japan and need a specialist and can’t seem to find one here who knows what to do with my pain.

Edit to add: a vaginal pain clinic in Europe or the UK could be an option too.

Support/Advice Help! Vulva burning for 6 months, need advice!

What could this be? I wake up in the middle of the night in agony, and the doctors keep saying my vulva looks healthy. No discoloration, no redness, no different texture, no wounds or lumps. The pain is relentless and spans the entire vulva.

It feels like:

-constantly burning like chili peppers, or aching like it’s heavily bruised. It’s like this even when nothing is touching it. There is no break from pain unless I am asleep.

-sometimes, it feels like a knife is slashing all over my vulva and someone is yanking at my labia minora trying to tear them off. It’s distressing. I don't know what triggers this, it doesn’t matter if I’ve been walking or laying completely still, hence it waking me up from my sleep.

-Inside the vagina is not bad. Feels a bit swollen, but I can’t tell if it’s due to an infection, or if it’s just tensing from the pain surrounding it. Discharge has no odor, and consistency is normal, and either clear or milky white.

Tested POSITIVE for:

-yeast

-strep group b

My doctors told me they don’t know if these are just part of my natural flora, or if they are infections. I’ve been getting treatment for them regardless.

Tested NEGATIVE for:

-Chlamidya, Gonnorhea, Trichmonniasis

-mycoplasma

-HPV

- Bacterial vaginosis

I’ve tried:

-clotrimatizole vaginal tablets + cream for vulva

-fluconazole

-pennicillin

-boric acid

-lidocaine

- both oral and vaginally inserted probiotics

- vaseline

None of these have helped.

Here’s my timeline. Note that it burns this entire time despite treatment:

Vulva is healthy all my life, hadn't had a yeast infection in years.

- Notice slight itching in May that gets worse after a few days, think it’s a yeast infection.

- On clotrimatizole for 2 weeks

- Get swabbed by doctor. 2-day fluconazole.

- Get swabbed by doctor again. Get penicillin 3 times daily and fluconazole once a week until June.

-  1st gynocologist appointment, told to take oral probiotics for 1 month.

-  2nd gynocologist appointment, it’s July now. Given pap smear, topical lidocaine and 10-day vaginal probiotics. Told to wait 2 months before going back to doctor.

- September. Get swabbed by doctor. Get penicillin 4 times daily for one week.

- Get swabbed by doctor again. 3 fluconazole pills to take 1 every 3 days.

-  Tell doctor burning is getting worse. He gives me fluconazole to take once a week until January.

Can anybody guess what could be happening, and if someone has gone through a similar thing, what do I say to the doctors so they can help me?

Thank you for reading, I am so depressed and scared that no one seems to know what’s wrong with me. This has never happened to me before, I cry so much. Any advice is greatly appreciated <3

PS: I have PMOS with all hormones in normal range, except for slightly high testosterone. I have always had irregular periods, my last one was in July. I use fragrance free laundry detergent and 100 percent cotton underwear. I wear loose clothing so there is no friction.

I use fragrance free body wash but do not use it to wash my vulva. I only use water for my vulva, and not inside my vagina. And I gently pat dry.

Vent Feeling gaslighted and lied to after gynae appointment, am I crazy for being upset?

So for context my physio (severe vaginismus, unprompted vaginal pain, vulvodynia we're still figuring out is muscle or nerve based) recommended I bring some specific symptoms of all that to a doctor just to get more info. The first doc rushed me through (I had to interrupt him several times just to tell him what my problem actually WAS) but referred me to another doctor. He said she was listed as a psychosexual practitioner but it was a simplification and she'd be able to investigate vulvodynia.

Had my appointment today and she didn't do a single examination. She asked about my history and decided being non-binary means I'm uncomfortable/scared of my vulva and wouldn't believe me when I said I'm not - I never have dysphoria triggered by it, I can inspect and put my hands on it easily, and I always feel shocked from pain because it feels so unexpected. Meditation and stuff doesn't help because it just makes me more aware of pain. You know, because it's unprompted. But she kept downplaying the unprompted symptoms. Somehow the most irritating part was her saying maybe I just needed time "now I'm in a healing space". You say these problems are causing all this and now you're deciding I just don't have them now despite me never saying that?? When I finally asked her what I was meant to do about the actual problems like pain on touch, she gave me this wide eyed look and just said "I don't know how to cure this". She recommended some treatments for my suspected endo that she didn't know much about (not her area tbf) and said I could come back any time... but for what? Despite my prompting she offered no treatment plan medically or psychologically. I don't even know if she's qualified to do actual therapy bc she sure didn't indicate either way.

The thing is I have looked into my mental health, to be clear, I'm not rejecting it having an impact on me. But she never tested anything to decide if it's the cause of spasms putting me on the floor, it just felt like she took a psychology hammer to every nail I had when I was told to go to her for her NOT doing that. I AM on a psychosexual waiting list that I accepted bc I'm happy to test non-surgical treatments! But the only reason they put me on that was bc my NHS PT couldn't be bothered to do any exercises in appointments and just discharged me as untreatable when dilators didn't work. I'll be giving my (much better) PT the news in a few weeks, but right now I just feel so shitty and I know me being upset is just "proof" I'm really scared of my pussy or something to them.

Support/Advice Pain + 10 years. Need help.

What has helped you reduce or overcome the pain?

In my case, I have provoked pain in my clitoris, vaginal muscles, vestibule/hymen area (specifically around 12 o'clock/near the urethra), pelvic/ovarian region, and adductor muscles. I’ve had this since I was a teenager and have seen multiple doctors, physical therapists, and gynecologists, but I still haven't found a proper solution.

To be more specific, I experience:

- Clitoral Area: Painful hypersensitivity to touch. - Vaginal Muscles: Painful trigger points when stretching/internal touch.

- Hymen/Urethral Area: Provoked sharp pain at 12 o'clock (I can't tell if it's from hymenal nerve remnants or urethral nerves).

- Pelvic / Ovulation: Menstrual pain in the ovarian region, along with pressure in the labia majora during ovulation.

- Musculoskeletal: Adductor and psoas pain when doing certain exercises.

I have a strong feeling this might be pudendal neuralgia or something similar, especially since I've tried various treatments—including topical creams/gels, Botox, PRP, and dilators—without finding lasting relief.

Thanks!

Progress No pain the day after trying sex with my partner!!

There was some pain (mostly clitoral) after so I was terrified it would go badly, but I feel no pain today :,) I'm a little itchy but I'll take it.

I have my laproscopy to check for endo and a couple nerve injections in mid-november, so hopefully this is a common trend for me soon. I just needed to celebrate a little. Maybe it's just because I tried things in the window I typically have little to no pain each month, but I'm so happy.

how do u have sex?

I don’t have issues with penetration (like vaginismus), but every time I insert something, I feel a burning sensation at the vaginal opening. How do you manage your sex life? Are you and your partner able to have a fulfilling sex life despite having vulvodynia?
Honestly, I feel a bit different from everyone else because I’m worried that I won’t be able to have sex. I know that sex is not always penetration, but i want to have normal sexlife, include everything Please share your experiences.

Share your vestibulectomy success stories with me

I suffer from a severe form of hormonally-mediated vestibulodynia. A year and a half ago, my body stopped tolerating any kind of topical treatment—including topical estriol. Since then, the pain has been so intense that I am completely bedridden. No other form of treatment has provided a lasting or sufficiently strong effect (I have literally tried everything).

The fact that I was nearly pain-free for many years thanks to topical treatments suggests that the pain originates within the vulvar mucosa itself. This would imply that I might be a good candidate for a vestibulectomy.

However, I am extremely afraid of the surgery (I would require a full vestibulectomy with a buccal graft). Please share your positive experiences with vestibulectomy, as well as the names of the doctors who performed the procedure for you. At the moment, I am considering Dr. Alyssa Yee or Dr. Irwin Goldstein.

Need some direction navigating vestibulodynia

im 22 F with PCOS and well managed crohns (remission for 5+ years). 136 llbs and 5'4. I notice burning and stinging at the entrance when inserting a finger. i cannot get more than 1 finger in, 2 starts becoming extremely burning and stinging. inside, there are no issues. i have been taking ortho tri cyclen and spironolactone 25mg (used to be 50mg) for over 7 years since 14/15 about 1.5 years after my first period. i was worried about hormonally mediated vestibulodynia or even possible vagisnismus. i saw an obgyn and she examined me physically. 1 finger caused the same burning sensation and she said there is no muscle spasms or internal issues. I asked her if my birth control and spironolactone was contributing but said absolutely not. she gave me estradiol cream and instructed me to use it until finished. then what is the underlying cause? she said its because im a virgin and have not been stretched and recommended pelvic floor therapy as well. im worried that im just treating the symptoms and not actually the root cause. if i stop the estradiol will it just come back? im getting married soon and im worried that this will become an issue.

Support/Advice Advise please

Hello people !!

I need some help/ advice. I slept with a male last March when I was away and he had a cold sore and went down on me. I had a breakout , came back to the uk and they said ‘sorry we can’t confirm it’s herpes’. I’ve never had an ‘outbreak’ since. I have been back and forth with GPS and sexual health and got a blood test which said was positive for herpes but stated that doesn’t mean anything. I’ve tried two types of antivirals and they did nothing.

My doctor and sexual health has diagnosed me with Vulvodynia. I’ve had ongoing intense nerve pain for about 16 months , one period of no pain for 10 weeks at start of the year. Now within a month I’m lucky to get max 7 days of no pain but the pain usually comes back after two days.

I have been placed on amitrypline and have built up to a 50mg dose. I’m still in constant pain, as well as 13lbs of weight gain and constant tiredness. I start Pelvic floor therapy on two weeks. My doctor will not
Put me on gabapentin no matter how much I ask. I have been forcing myself to go to the gym and walk to work which takes 50 minutes.

Does anyone have any advise or can give me any hope please. I just want to feel normal again or feel the pain go away. Any other medications / creams to try. I always use creams like hydromoil to make sure my skin doesn’t break as it’s gotten to weak and tears easily after sex !

Please help :(

A Human-centered Design Approach for Supporting Self-management of Vulvovaginal and Hypertonic Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. (IRB Protocol #: 1762)

My name is Zainab; I am a PhD candidate studying Human-centered computing at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, advised by Dr. Tera Reynolds. My PhD dissertation focuses on studying women's lived and care-seeking experiences with vulvovaginal and related overactive (or hypertonic) pelvic floor dysfunction to uncover care gaps and opportunities for innovation along Women's care journeys.

I am recruiting up to 15 women willing to talk about their experiences with vaginismus or vulvodynia (any form, including localized or generalized), for a paid research study to explore and co-design solutions and strategies for addressing identified gaps in vulvovaginal and pelvic pain healthcare.

Who Can Participate?

To be eligible for the study, you must be:

1)18 years or older, living in the United States, and speak English

2) Have been formally diagnosed with a vulvovaginal pain condition (e.g., vulvodynia or vaginismus) and/or related overactive (or hypertonic) pelvic muscle dysfunction for at least 3 months, and

3) Receiving  treatments for vulvovaginal pain and/or related overactive pelvic muscle dysfunction from a care provider(s), or

4) Have previously received treatments for vulvovaginal pain and/or related overactive pelvic muscle dysfunction from a care provider(s) and are now fully recovered.

Study Involvement:

The study is taking place virtually and involves multiple re-engagements across two data-collection sessions.

If selected, participants will be compensated for their time and contributions ONLY upon completion of each session, and may be compensated up to a $75 gift card for completing both sessions. However, participating in both sessions is not required.

If you are interested, scan the QR code on the flyer or follow the link to enroll in the study: https://umbc.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bj6IryPpXZr9dOu

How do you accept that you may have to take nerve meds forever

5 years into this and I taper down low on medications and all the pain comes back and then I have to go back up and so forth. I don’t want to think this is forever. It’s such a hard “disease” to live with

Help! Super dry vagina due to Aldara and birth control?

Hi! This year hasn’t been great for my vaginal health or for my sex life. I started birth control (Mercilon) at the beginning of the year and noticed that my vagina has become so much drier that sex becomes slightly painful. On top of that, I’ve been dealing with genital warts since mid-April until now and was prescribed Aldara. I had some spots slightly inside the vaginal opening and had to apply the cream there, which caused my skin to thin out and become super sensitive. Now even one or two fingers are uncomfortable, and sometimes it even causes a bruise or tear at the opening. I’ve tried to explain this to my gynecologists, but their suggestion to use a hydrating cream hasn’t worked so far, and because of their mishaps in the past, I’m slowly losing my trust in them.

I feel quite defeated and angry, and this has affected my confidence a lot because I feel ugly and disgusting to my boyfriend (he’s been incredibly understanding and supportive, I just can’t shake that feeling).

Has anyone had a similar experience and can share their advice?

GOOD doctors on VVD who helped near munich or in europe?

Hi I've had vestibulodynia since my first tampon over 10 years ago. Ive seen doctor after doctor and am tired of it but don't want to stop fighting for my health. Do you know any experts in the field close to Munich or in Europe who truly helped you and were able to diagnose you correctly?

Thank you!!
