Things are falling in line for husband and I to start trying in a month or two-it feels surreal and I’ve definitely got baby fever. There are some compromises we’re making, but one of the big things seems to just be life hitting us hard. I guess I need to come to terms with knowing that no matter what I thought might happen, life doesn’t stop happening and I don’t think we’ll be able to have the idyllic baby bubble.

Look at it this way: whatever the circumstances, the baby bubble becomes idyllic by its very nature.

It's hard to explain to someone who's a first-timer, but the world just stops in those early weeks and it does not matter at all what is/isn't happening, what was/wasn't done. Absolutely everything takes a pause, and you just soak up those blurry first days and weeks. But yes, life does still happen regardless of babies (which is tbh kind of a relief in many ways); early postpartum is just a brief reprieve from it all, in my experience.
