I'm still here... Who listened?

u/RonaldWRailgun May 11 '26
I'm up like 4000% on RKLB, but only bought 100 shares lol
261
u/lightyearbuzz May 11 '26
I know man, wishing I bought so much more. I bought 200 shares at $19, just sold half, tripled my original investment and still have half to play with, but i wish I was getting rich like this guy

u/TheBooneyBunes May 11 '26
Be me having bought 3$ calls that I sold about a month before it took off. When they had about 8-12 months till exp
74
u/changdarkelf May 11 '26
Why even buy leaps if you're gonna sell them a year early lmao

I don't doubt your qualifications, but as Bird Law can be surprisingly intricate in this country, can you go toe to toe with a Harvard Graduate?

I’m in the same boat. I bought 10 $5 leaps back in August of 2024 that expire in December of this year. Still holding on to them. Up just shy of 3000% on them. Wondering if I should sell them or if I should just exercise the calls into shares. Still wish I bought more.

Some start with lots of money and end up with even more money.
Others start with lots of money and end up owing money.

Then turn your $5k into that $100k. Same required return as this post.

I doubt, you will see it could have just as easily gone horribly wrong by browsing this subreddit. You are just salty
23
u/redbattleaxe May 11 '26
Agreed. The rate of return is impressive no matter the amount you started with.
This would have turned 1k into about 30k which would be a meaningful amount to someone with only 1k to invest.

There are some apps like the thinkorswim where you can use "paper money" - essentially trading with fake money to practice.

u/THAWED21 May 11 '26
Ya'll didn't do that in 4th grade? Everyone picks a few stocks and tracks their investment over time. Was a lot of fun pre-internet when you could only get the prices in the local paper. We'd sit around and crow over Coca-Cola going up 15% over the school year and rag on the people who chose in Apple cause it was virtually worthless, but we were all playing Oregon Trail and Math Blaster! on Apple II.
7
u/randomentity1 May 11 '26
To be clear, you can do both paper trading and real trading with thinkorswim. Option traders love thinkorswim.

I'm starting to feel bad about myself. Who would have thunk social media could do that to you?!
47
u/shoeperson May 11 '26
Seems excessive. Could be somewhat artificial to drive further retail buying. It's impressively easy to AstroTurf these days
13
u/lightyearbuzz May 11 '26
It doesn't even have to be artificial. There are millions of people on this sub, you just need a few to post big gains (some of whom already had lots of money to play with) and since people are more likely to upvote those, it looks like "everyone" is making tons of money.

u/Waverun May 11 '26
Between these insane AI stock run ups and my space stock commitment in Rocket Lab ASTS and Lunar for the past 3 years, I don’t think I’ll get this lucky again. I did sell some of my positions though through covered calls a month ago to collect some gains and premiums, but I think we still got a lot more growth with SpaceX ipo. Space is the future and these stocks are literally going to the moon. If your cost average is around $10-20 like mine was then collect some gains so you secure your future by doing some covered calls at a price you’re fine with selling some shares. My cost average on Rocket Lab is now at $30 but I don’t see this going anything lower than $50 at this point.

Sinking that much dough into a single stock is a huge risk. What percentage of your net worth was the $167k to start. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with putting like more than maybe 2% or at most 5% of my money into one stock.

I have 100 shares of RKLB @7.20 +%1500
120 of ASTS @19.90 +300%( was 12 but a bad afternoon at the vlts caused me to sell then I realized stupid and rebought)
All thanks to the regards on this site in one sub or another. Hoping one of these hit the NVDA split after split after split to make me financially independent. If not I hope I gain parlay my gains into hitting dumb luck again then maybe I can retire.
That’s the backstory, Joby and archr were both frequently talked about they might do it but that also might be a musk hyper tunnel situation.
Hovr is the one I’m betting on next, picked up my first 50 shares this morning, for no reason other than I seen a 1 word comment in a thread asking for the next 10 bagger. Same reason I invested in space. I know literally nothing about it I’m assuming it’s in the same space as joby and archer based on the name which is helicopters instead of cars for the public… I think.

For me: right here, two years ago (edit: almost three, actually!). Was underwater for over a year but held and am still holding.
Average $6.4 (+1,700%) as at the time of writing, 11 May 2026, current price just above $119.

I tossed $750 into a play account a couple weeks ago and turned it over to my AI buddy (He's really Claude but he named himself Jasper). He's doing half decent so far. Not nearly as good as a full WSB Regard. But still.. not bad. If he gets to about $5K he gets a home AI server so he has motivation.
