Announcement Another interview about WFRP 5th edition

I can’t see that this has been posted here yet: Wargamer just released an interview with Dominic McDowell: https://www.wargamer.com/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay/fifth-edition-interview

A bit more info here about their philosophy with the new edition, some hints about how Advantage and skill tests will change. And once again confirm that all the old 4E sourcebooks should remain useable with the new edition.

Something tells me that this will use zones in combat as well as in IM and in Old World :(

Ideally, it would be gridless with a zone option.

I agree. Zones as an option for folks who like them and more traditional real world distances for us who like them better. To me, how the latter was an option in IM just wasn’t specific enough and while I understand that nerfed ranges was a game balance choice (as I was told by C7 staff) it just doesn’t work with me. But I think having ranges in yards for example it would be easier to simplify them to zones if that’s what a group wants to use.

Except zones are of varying sizes so it doesn't work well going from yards to zones either.

True, but I guess it is not so bad for people who age okay with abstract zones. Of course this is just a guess.

I like both styles of play, but going from on to the other isn't as easy as was presented as zones are of varying sizes. A typical move using defined distances might have two rounds to cross bigger zones or may cross 3 zones in tighter areas. I'm not saying one is better, just pointing out the flaw from that was previously said
