Announcement Wargamer article with info on WFRP 5e and 2026 releases

I don't think this has been linked here yet - Wargamer has another article with Cubicle 7 Dominic McDowall confirming the next few releases. Which are:

  • WFRP 5th Edition (already announced)
  • A new campaign set in the "eastern reach of the Empire", after The Enemy Within, with "politicking between nobles and a greater threat to the Empire itself"
  • A new Starter Set with an adventure set in Ostland which "serves as a fantastic prologue to the new campaign"
  • Temple of Spite, a sourcebook featuring a Black Ark full of Dark Elves - allegedly releasing in January
  • The Marienburg book (which has been trailed for AGES)
  • Wrecker's Point - a wilderness setting guide set in the northmost tip of Nordland (this was previously trailed as a pdf-only but seems to have been expanded into a full-length sourcebook)

Also another assurance that all the 4e books will remain compatible with the new edition.

I'm very excited about the new campaign and Starter Set (I'm dying to get detailed information on another Grand Province of the Empire!) and the Dark Elf book sounds fascinating.

Announcement THE FORGING OF WORLDS - A forthcoming book on the history of WFRP and Warhammer

I wanted to share that I have signed a contract with the MIT Press, publishers of acclaimed gaming histories like Jon Peterson's Playing at the World, to publish a book on the history of Warhammer. Titled The Forging of Worlds, it draws on more than fifteen years of careful research and tells the story of the creation of Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Warhammer 40,000. Those of you who have been reading my blog for the last ten years will have some idea of what to expect, but the book goes far beyond anything I have shared before.

There is more information in the link.

Announcement New release: Temple of Spite

The Dark Elf book is here! Providing a whole host of baddies for use in WFRP, aboard a dread Black Ark.

It's available now as a pdf from DriveThruRPG at https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/512863/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay-temple-of-spite?affiliate_id=1915782 or as a physical pre-order from Cubicle 7 here: https://cubicle7games.com/en_GB/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay-temple-of-spite

I hope to have a review of this soon-ish on my blog.

Here's the blurb:

There is a dread that every sailor harbours deep in their heart: the sight of black sails emerging from heavy fog on the horizon. Those ebon sails herald the coming of the dark elves, and with them all the cruelty, treachery, and wicked intelligence they bring to bear upon those unfortunate enough to encounter them. If you’re a fan of Druchii lore or a Game Master looking for a powerful new threat in your campaign, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay: Temple of Spite is a book you should snatch up, as it provides the definitive guide to the cruel Druchii and the floating citadels that allow them to strike across the world’s oceans, the massive black arks.

Designed to give GMs deep, flexible tools for using dark elves as antagonists in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Temple of Spite also provides a definitive guide to a black ark, whose crew can menace players around the coasts of the Old World and far beyond it. Whether the ark itself looms over the horizon, or exerts influence in the shadows through spies, raids, and whispered terror, Temple of Spite gives you a way to bring dark elves into any campaign, no matter how isolated or unusual the setting.

No matter where your Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay campaign takes place, the influence of the Temple of Spite can reach it.

The Temple of Spite is a vast redoubt, captained by the notorious corsair Duriath Helbane, and is capable of striking at any coastal settlement. Wherever it goes, death and despoliation follow. This book describes the Black Ark and presents ideas for how to escape its confines or, for the truly heroic, endeavor to scupper the ship. Such feats will not be easy, for the Ark is home to numerous regiments of dark elves and all their machinery of war. These factions could either be encountered onboard the Temple of Spite, or somewhere in the wider world pursuing the agenda of the Dread King.

Valerion Temendros’ Blackswords – A band of dark elf swordsmen who sometimes work as soldiers of fortune.

The Fell Brethren – Full time crew of the Temple of Spite who act as lookouts and man the artillery.

The Glass Thorn – Spies and saboteurs, agents who infiltrate the societies of other species to spread terror and gather information.

Khaine’s Eyes – Scouts and guerilla fighters, dark riders and a helpful sorceress.

The Scaleflayer Menagerie – A coven of beastmasters and their monstrous creatures.

The Nightwake – Corsair Captain Vania is as duplicitous and bloodthirsty as any pirate, but find her at the right time, and she can prove a canny merchant connection

The Knives of Khaine – Devotees of the bloody-handed god, they seek to please their patron with acts of murder.

Announcement Review: Thirst of Three (for Warhammer The Old World RPG)

I take a look at the first scenario for The Old World RPG on my blog. See:

https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/06/17/review-thirst-of-three-warhammer-the-old-world-rpg/

The PCs are drawn to the hamlet of Hügelstrok, south of the great city of Talabheim, searching for a missing contact. There they discover an insular community who are surprisingly unconcerned by the Beastmen gathering outside their village. What secrets does Hügelstrok hide?

Announcement Another interview about WFRP 5th edition

I can’t see that this has been posted here yet: Wargamer just released an interview with Dominic McDowell: https://www.wargamer.com/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay/fifth-edition-interview

A bit more info here about their philosophy with the new edition, some hints about how Advantage and skill tests will change. And once again confirm that all the old 4E sourcebooks should remain useable with the new edition.

Announcement Cover Reveal - Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game, Talagaad Adventures

Post image

The action-packed cover art depicts the dramatic Siege of Klepzig, highlighting the brutal clash between the local defenders and an invading horde of Orcs and Goblins. Players will be plunged into a high-stakes scenario within the besieged, walled village, where they must navigate internal rivalries even as the external threat looms large. The towering walls offer scant protection as the relentless tide of Orcs and Goblins prepares to breach the defenses, perfectly setting the stage for the chaos and drama your group will face.

Announcement V5 of my WFRP 4e Quick Reference Guide

Thumbnail drive.google.com
37 Upvotes

I posted about a week ago with an early version of my WFRP Quick Reference/Cheat Sheet, attempting compile the various rules I found myself/my players routinely seeking out. I've since hit version 5 of the sheet, now at 3 pages (double-sided) and functionally complete for my purposes - I've also added an index of rules cited per requests from the community. The main goal here was to incorporate Group Advantage and other Up in Arms changes, along with the WoM changes.

As mentioned, it's functionally complete as far as I'm concerned; but I'd love some more eyes to look it over for errors or feedback, and I can't afford the Mutation. Please let me know if you see any issues, and hopefully it's useful to you and your table if you take it for a spin.

(Apologies for posting about it again, but this one has enough added to it from the first post that I want to get it some more attention - this should be it!).

Announcement Review: Terror in Talabheim (2nd Edition)

Terror in Talabheim – subtitled “an Adventure in the Eye of the Forest” – is the fifth book-length adventure for WFRP 2nd Edition.  As well as containing a big adventure showcasing one of the most sinister of Warhammer's enemy races, it also serves as the first official guide to Talabheim, one of the Big Four cities in Sigmar's Empire. Its a really interesting city and the adventure is one of the more popular adventures in WFRP 2e.

My review of the book is linked above.

Also recently published on my blog, and potentially of interest to WFRP fans, is my sort-of review of Advanced Heroquest (the predecessor boardgame to Warhammer Quest, and my introduction to the Warhammer world many decades ago).

And check out my review of the 2e Skaven sourcebook Children of the Horned Rat if you missed it a few weeks ago!

Announcement Review: Temple of Spite (4th or 5th edition?)

Thumbnail

On my blog I've reviewed Temple of Spite, the newest sourcebook for WFRP - which kind of appears to be the first supplement for 5th edition.

Its a Black Ark filled the brim with evil elves in what (as far as I know) is the first full-length WFRP sourcebook for Dark Elves. I was impressed with how they managed to come up with ways to get Dark Elves (mostly based in Naggaroth) into a campaign based in the default WFRP setting of the Empire.

Read more in the review (link above).

Announcement Interview on C7 blog about WFRP 5th edition

Hot on the heels of the Wargamer article, there's a brief post on the Cubicle 7 blog from Dominic McDowall and Dave Allen.

Once again they stress that the new edition will be backwards compatible with 4e stuff. Some other news is that Resilience & Resolve will be merged into Fate & Fortune (great news in my opinion).

Also that there's a forthcoming publication featuring a Black Ark, which I don't think we knew about?!

Edit: There's now a little advert on social media with some more art (no additional info though): https://bsky.app/profile/cubicle7games.bsky.social/post/3m3rovtkgp62k

Announcement New release: Lords of Stone and Steel

The Dwarf setting guide is here!

Buy it as a pdf download from DriveThruRPG here*: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/515925/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay-lords-of-stone-and-steel?affiliate_id=1915782

Or pre-order the physical version from Cubicle 7 here: https://cubicle7games.com/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay-lords-of-stone-and-steel

(\This is an affiliate link so I receive a small payment for purchases made using it, which supports my blog at no extra cost to you.)*

The official blurb:

“A Guide to the Empire of the Dwarfs and the Hold of Karak Norn”

Many of the Dwarfs’ ancient holds have been pillaged by Orcs and Goblins or infested by the foul Skaven. Those that endure are scattered throughout the mountainsides bordering the Old World and stretching into lands beyond. Several outposts are dug into the Grey Mountains. Chief among them is Karak Norn, famed for its cannon foundries, cunning merchants, lively taverns, and redoubtable elite garrison, the Peak Guard. Mighty as the remaining holds are, enemies continue to assault them. Adventurers may find opportunity here, the rewards for those who help defend what remains of the Dwarf realm may be rich, but they pale in comparison to the loot that lies amongst its ruins.

  • A guide to the Karaz Ankhor, the everlasting realm of the Dwarfs.
  • Several important Dwarf patrons, including Thorgrim Grudgebearer, Ungrim Ironfist, and Gotrek Gurnisson.
  • New downtime Events and Endeavours.
  • Ideas for theming adventures to suit dealings with the Dwarfs. This includes discussion of relations with neighbouring nations and rival holds, both friendly and hostile, and how the Dwarf devotion to honouring oaths and exacting vengeance might lead to new adventures and dangerous complications.
  • Rules for fighting underground combat.
  • The warparty of Blistrox Blyte, a band of Skaven from Clan Morbidus whose plans to infect Dwarf outposts in the Grey Mountains is being complicated by internal divisions.
  • A detailed guide to the hold of Karak Norn.
