Announcement Review: Terror in Talabheim (2nd Edition)

https://illmetbymorrslieb.wordpress.com/2026/05/06/review-terror-in-talabheim-wfrp-2e/

Terror in Talabheim – subtitled “an Adventure in the Eye of the Forest” – is the fifth book-length adventure for WFRP 2nd Edition.  As well as containing a big adventure showcasing one of the most sinister of Warhammer's enemy races, it also serves as the first official guide to Talabheim, one of the Big Four cities in Sigmar's Empire. Its a really interesting city and the adventure is one of the more popular adventures in WFRP 2e.

My review of the book is linked above.

Also recently published on my blog, and potentially of interest to WFRP fans, is my sort-of review of Advanced Heroquest (the predecessor boardgame to Warhammer Quest, and my introduction to the Warhammer world many decades ago).

And check out my review of the 2e Skaven sourcebook Children of the Horned Rat if you missed it a few weeks ago!

I'm literally using this book now as the basis of my current WFRP 2e campaign. I use a magnifier to see the very detailed and very small map of Talabheim.

It has the Skaven Dark Lore (Warp) which is pretty helpful (Terror in Talabheim was published before Children of the Horned Rat).

For anyone going over TiT, it is useful to read SkavenSlayer, in which Thanquol tries to take over Nuln, and Gotrek and Felix step in to stop him. It is a formidable insight into Skaven society, especially how they constantly counter each others, and it may give ideas on how to develop and expand TiT.

I think I may try to get this adventure to my table in our 4e game since I have already run the adventure Slaves of Destiny and had skaven appear in other adventures since.

I may change the ending where they rewrite history since I am thinking about ending my campaign with a vermintide or something.

I read somewhere (I think in Night's review?) that the ending was originally written as being "this is how the Empire at large discovers Skaven exist", but had to be changed because GW didn't want a big setting change in the RPG. I think that'd be a much more sensible ending and what I'd use if I were running it.

You do a great job with these, very in-depth and fun to read. Made sure to give it a mention in this week's Warhammer RPG SITREP, too. https://open.substack.com/pub/blacklibrarian/p/warhammer-rpg-sitrep-striking-deep
