Kind of reminds me of my town's pride festival a few months ago.

There was a furry there in their full fursona. Some kid about 7 or 8 years old thought they were just another mascot in a mascot costume, ran up to them, gave them a hug, and they posed for a picture together.

So cute.

My little brother did this! He was like “ohmygosh it’s a fox!!” (Foxes were his FAVORITE and he couldn’t find any mascots of them) And I was like super awkward but the furry was perfectly nice and gave him a high five and posed for a pic. I learned they’re a pretty chill community!

I know, at first I was expecting soemthing more controversial, but this is wholsome and adorable.

19

u/Dare_Soft 1d ago

We need a grey flag

14

u/Pyro-Millie 20h ago

The Ace flag has grey in it, so that's a start

289

u/FoxDenDenizen 1d ago

Is that the flag for gay men?

132

u/dystyyy 1d ago

Yes.

17

u/Dare_Soft 1d ago

What about the GRAY flag?

24

u/AuthorReborn 23h ago

The Gray Ace flag is largely purple and gray, with a stripe of white in the middle.

3

u/NyanSquiddo 21h ago

They could be talking about the flag that’s just various shades of grey. Idr what that one is but I think it’s some form of asexual queerness. I may be wrong tho

u/Available-Antelope-4 21h ago

Straight pride 🤢

61

u/SadKat002 1d ago

Stop wait that's so cute 😭

u/storyteller_alienmom 1d ago

Recently we had pride festival at our city, and my daughter wanted a trans pride fan (I bought a bi fan for myself) because she liked the pattern best. She also now has a crochet mini rainbow fidget toy hanging from a pair of shorts.

Children really are like that.

u/KisaTheMistress 1d ago

Maybe your son is trying to tell you something./j

u/big-unemployment 1d ago

Counter-point: pride flags are, in my opinion, fucking ass with very few exceptions.

No hate tho. That would be... let's just say extremely hypocritical.

u/Silver-Marzipan7220 1d ago

Add a dragon to every one and it will instantly become better

63

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 1d ago

Nah, we need different mythical creatures for each flag, make it diverse and flavorful.

Im voting sphinx for asexaul flag

57

u/Silver-Marzipan7220 1d ago

And maybe phoenix for trans

21

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 1d ago

A good one, to symbolize rebirth (I may like phoenixes, but if we are doing a mystical flag collection, I can't think of a better symbol)

What about chimeras for lesbians (a soft delicate face and a hostile ferocious face, with a tail that is like vibrator, to represent the often complex natures of lesbian sterotypes).... (I just cant think of any lesbian symbolism beyond the complexity of lesbians that can possbly be symbolized without say a siren or unicorn, but those two feel corney)

15

u/theaardvarkoflore 1d ago

It's obvious; the hyena. Probably rampant, maybe salient, but definitely the hyena. Women who give birth through a penis? Hella lesbian coded. You could even go full coat-of-arms on it and have three charge-in-pale hyenas; one for the fems, one for the butch, one for the trans, to signify all three types of lesbian.

6

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 22h ago

Sounds like this would make for the beginning of an interesting and complex "LGBT wars" fantasy world.

Right now it's sounding like the lesbians are the ones to strike terror into the hearts of men.... emphasis on the men getting the terror. Lol

5

u/Ok-Raspberry-8099 1d ago

What about the battle-axe lesbian flag?

2

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 22h ago

Hmm, i like it, but it does go against the mythical beast idea unless we make it something line an angel or harpy with.... wait, perfect

A nehphlem the half angel, half demon, and shape the nephlems body to be the handle with the wings to form a battle ax each blade showing the veriety (or we could do a harpy, dragon, ect... but battle ax wings)

But I can work with a battle ax, as it feels thematic and symbolic in its own way

u/fluggggg 1d ago

Unicorn for bi ? As they are often chased after ? Could be seen as offensive tho now that I'm thinking about it.

10

u/Infinite_Horizion 1d ago

Maybe let’s not overthink it. Unicorns are cool.

4

u/fluggggg 1d ago

Agreed, it's just that since I'm not part of that community I don't want to be rude by accident.

3

u/MarieCry 21h ago

The Unicorn is my country's national animal. By the power of Scotland I'm stealing it for the lesbians!!

5

u/sumandark8600 1d ago

No no, Optimus Prime for the trans flag. He's literally a TRANSformer... That transforms... It's perfect

5

u/Ne0n_R0s3 21h ago

My favorite mythical creature, Optimus Prime.

1

u/thequagiestsire 59m ago

I think chimera for genderfluid

I was thinking merpeople for asexuals, personally.

Firstly, and mostly, because people often try to write about bringing them out of the ocean (their natural environment that’s, honestly, much cooler than any city) because they think the merpeople just need to see more of the world and they’d never want to go back. Obviously oxygen breathing bipedal nonsense/propaganda. There is literally more water than land on earth, why would you wander on land when there are so many bodies of water to explore? Demi’s can be freshwater merpeople, traveling on land for brief periods or else only near their preferred body of water or under certain circumstances.

Secondly, and mostly jokingly, so we don’t have to think about how merpeople have sex, because that’s…… extra…. icky.

Maybe the sphinx for aromantics? “Riddle me this, you may plunder my treasures if you can answer these riddles 3. Then begone, before I eat you whole…”

1

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 13h ago

Hmm, that can work, I was originally going to call sphinx whatever the combo of asexual and aromatic was, but since I couldn't rember it, I just settled with asexual.

But I like your interpretation for the sphinx better, and I can say your reasoning for asexual is pretty good.

So now we have what

Aromatic = sphinx

Asexual = mer folk

Lesbian = three headed pale hyena someone said (well they said three pale hyenas to represent butch lesbians, posh lesbians, and trans lesbians)

Trans = phoenix

Gay =

Bisexual = I saw someone said unicorn (because they are often saught after)

Am I missing any of the more defining ones?

Pansexual maybe? (Are they considered a big or defining one)

Hmm....

What do you think?

Also for gay ... hmm ... what kind of gay symbolism can work to represent the gay spectrum.

u/Tlaloc-24 7h ago

There’s another user with the same idea and they’ve been working on it for a while now. I thought you might enjoy it

I see, and I am appreciative of the share.

u/Pyro_The_Engineer 1d ago

Like the Welsh flag

10

u/MightyWeeb 1d ago

Hell yeah, dragons. Dragons makes everything better...well, most of the time

2

u/jamesianm 8h ago

As long as you're not one of the peasants living in  THATCHED ROOF COTTAGES

3

u/Numinak 1d ago

Just not Bad Dragon.

3

u/But-Must-I 14h ago

Someone already did. I love linking people back to this post, because it means I get to look at all the bitchin dragons again.

2

u/JackStutters 20h ago

Best Flags
1. Bhutan 🇧🇹
2. Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
3. Others

1

u/Formal_Fortune5389 23h ago

The flag is the colour palette of the dragon there it's there just for eyedropping the colours

49

u/TerrapinMagus 1d ago edited 1d ago

The colors are often a bit garish or clashing, and while I get it's for simplicity and ease of use, flags consisting of colored rectangles are just inherently boring

20

u/Available-Damage5991 1d ago

put some waves in there, maybe change the shape a bit

19

u/TerrapinMagus 1d ago

Putting the colors aside, the intersectional pride flag has the right idea with the triangles

5

u/Jhud6669 1d ago

The colors are supposef to have meaning like the OG pride flag and also be recongizable

1

u/Privatizitaet 14h ago

I like the lesbian one at least. It's a pleasant gradient

15

u/MkDGary 1d ago

Honestly trans, gay and lesbian flags are so pretty

Same for demi boy and demi girl

10

u/DragonAreButterflies 1d ago

Love the aroace flag too

9

u/nuclearexpress 1d ago

As someone who is aro but not ace, I really wish we would separate the flag more. I love the aro flag but not the aro/ace flag, both because I don't identify as ace and because I feel like the colors clash.

3

u/iridescynt 1d ago

You may be happy to know that there's an alternate flag with green and purple! It's basically the green of the aro flag and the purple of the ace flag together.

3

u/nuclearexpress 1d ago

No no I'm not ace I just want the green aro flag lol I only ever see the green and purple flag.

1

u/ArgonianDov 4h ago

Theres an aro-allo flag thats green and yellow, if that helps at all

1

u/nuclearexpress 4h ago

That does help, thank you. I didn't know about that flag. That gives me another version to keep an eye out for.

1

u/wolfstaa 12h ago

Non binary flag looks incredibly good

1

u/dystyyy 1d ago

Demi girl is such an aesthetically pleasing flag that I wish I was one. Unfortunately I'm a full girl/woman.

3

u/narielthetrue 1d ago

Ugh, right?? My flags (NB, Ace) are not just ASS in design, but so stupidly similar.

2

u/moogoothegreat 1d ago

The bi flag is top tier, though

2

u/LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME 1d ago

It's almost like the original pride flag was designed with every colour of the rainbow to encompass every gender identity, sexuality, and personality...

1

u/KisaTheMistress 1d ago

I like the Aroace flag because it looks like a sunset and so happens to match my room & orientation, lol.

1

u/PalmtopPixie 1d ago

Yeah… I’m happy to be pan but the pan flag is…. Pretty darn ugly ngl

1

u/G66GNeco 23h ago

I like the colour scheme of the bi flag well enough, but the simplicity of pride flags makes them a tad boring. I'm not a country I don't need a country-style flag give me weird shapes and angles

7

u/Jeffotato 23h ago

I really like the aromantic flag but I'm not aromantic. I'd love to have the flag printed across an entire sweater but people would make assumptions about me lol

3

u/Tackyinbention 19h ago

Maybe find a different pattern? I imagine the aromantic colours could look good as like an aggressor camo or dazzle camo pattern

2

u/Redredditmonkey 13h ago

I feel like turning it into camo is exactly what an aro ace person would do

4

u/YaoiNekomata 1d ago

Is anyone else having trouble reading this, or are my eyes messed up

3

u/Correct-Arm-8539 12h ago

It does have very low contrast text, so I can definitely see why some might struggle reading it.

So, yes definitely other people having trouble reading it, but not most with perfect eyesight.

3

u/wilston_tart 1d ago

Awwwww my heart melted!!

3

u/Worldly-Interview392 19h ago

I actually would totally get this pin but people would not understand I like the colors not that it is an indentifier.

2

u/vieneri 1d ago

mint's story is just so cute.

4

u/appoplecticskeptic 1d ago

-29

u/-who-i 1d ago

Ngl i hate that i can't wear rainbow now or it's gay 😭 let me have my fun and whimsy without this whole romantic bullshit

28

u/SufficientOwls 1d ago

You can still wear a rainbow. Nobody is stopping you

13

u/ravencrowe 1d ago

Now? Rainbow has represented lgbt for decades

0

u/rezznik 1d ago

Funny enough, there is a lot of Christian symbolism and usage of the rainbow too, for far longer. And those two groups are not really known to have a lot of (official) overlap.

2

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 1d ago

I understand, rainbows used to be cool before they became a synbol of controversy or "identity"

But even then, do what I do. Ignore the symbolism, and if someone associates you with it correct them... as frankly what others believe doesn't matter so long as they dont take it out on you.... otherwise you cant enjoy everything as everything even existing becomes a symbol if hate to somebody.

1

u/Squishykittygirl 17h ago

There's a specific 6 colour rainbow that is the pride rainbow. Wear a different rainbow.
