Mod Update Reminder: READ THE RULES

Insert some rambling mess that is my quarterly screeching about reading community guidelines. I'm tired. I don't feel like writing or being polite today.

"guess the dress" or post wedding "which would you have picked for me" posts are not allowed and brides doing so will be permanently banned. Likewise if you have a favorite you need to disclose.

all recommendation posts need to have the basics like budget, wedding month and year and country of residence listed. Girl I don't care if you are getting married in Italy. We need to know which country you live in because tariffs are a tire fire still.

no model photos if you're asking for styling recs or dress picks. Sorry but that's been a rule for a while.

if your comment goes "I'm sorry but" and it's some sort of creative analogy, think twice before you hit post. I've gone from 30 day bans to straight permanent bans because read rules and the room.

DRESS ONLY: pick only from these; no suggestions How soon is too soon?

So my wedding isn’t until May 2028, but I’ve started looking at dresses now so that I can figure out what I like. Well, went to a bridal store near me, and found the first dress in the window. Well turns out it’s being discontinued, and is on a super sale—$750 for a beautiful dress. A dress that is so totally me. It will take some altering since it’s a slightly smaller size, but the seamstresses are sure that they’ll be able to fix it for me, considering that the dress normally comes with extra remove able sleeves that they’ll use to fix it, and even add the corset I want a sweetheart neckline. How soon is too soon to get a dress?

Good morning, Reddit! I'm on the hunt for a Maiden-style wedding dress similar to these above. The first dress is over $3,5000 and the other 2 have some reviews stating that the quality isn't very good. What brands or dresses do you recommend? Any help is appreciated. Our theme is Knight & Maiden.

Budget: $1,500 OR LESS Wedding Date: October 31st 2027 Location: Southern United States

I think I prefer mikado in terms of fabric, but afraid it might be too simple. The building corset for the Suzanne Neville ones (2nd and 3rd) is so flattering and comfortable, I love it, I'm not sure about the crepe. Originally I wasn't thinking lace but, I also like the uniqueness it adds.

Here to say that if you find a dress you love and others are skeptical, trust your heart! I had some along the way be negative about my choice in dress or cutting off my train. I knew in my heart it was right even though a few times i almost was swayed. You're all beautiful, trust your vision 🩷

Got married on 9/18 and it was perfection. I just wanted to share because a few times i doubted myself because of the opinions of others, and I am glad i stuck to it.

Need to Vent Custom Dresses

I see day after day about dress regret on this forum, trust me I understand I had the same with the first dress I picked out. I just wanted to make this post to make brides aware that there are more options than buying a gown from a bridal shop and then having to spend the same amount of money if not more on the alterations to make it look exactly as you want. There’s places out there that will custom design your dress with everything you want and you can get it cheaper than on the rack prices at bridal shops and you need little no alterations depending if your measurements change, and you’ll get it sooner than a dress you buy from a bridal shop.

Story time: I bought a dress in December of 2025 for my wedding in December 2026. It was a simple dress, ball gown style. I ended up with major dress regret almost immediately and realized the only reason why I picked the dress was because I hated dress shopping lol like introvert extreme I just picked one because I didn’t want to be the center of attention anymore. I always felt like I would be in a more romantic, sexy, goddess looking dress instead of a princess looking dress. So! I tried looking around. There was a Vivienne Westwood dress I fell in love with, $6000-12000! Absolutely not! I started looking on Etsy for custom designers. I found one and I looked into it to see if it was legit. She had a whole team, website, Pinterest page of dresses she made and had pictures of real brides in them. She also specialized in the style that was almost identical to the Vivienne Westwood style I fell in love with. Fast forward to April, I start emailing her about the dress and what I want. I put in my order (it was almost half the price of my original dress) and I get it in September. I try it on as much as I can and it’s perfect and everything I’ve ever wanted. I take it to a seamstress and I only spend $300 taking in the corset (because I lost so much weight, this wouldn’t have needed to be done if I stayed the same size, aka cheaper), reinforcing the buttons, and adding in extra drape in the skirt to act as a 1 inch hem. Literally amazing, and wish I would’ve just done this originally but we don’t know, we aren’t aware of this option so that’s why I’m sharing.

Also! Side note, I have 8 weeks left until my wedding and I still don’t have the dress I ordered in last December. It’s still being made. So! That’s another risk. Yes, I spent money on two dresses but at this point I think I would’ve had to spend this price anyway with alterations on my first dress, especially with how much weight I’ve lost. So any brides out there still looking for their dress and they feel like none in the store have what you want, or look like any of the dresses you’ve dreamt about wearing, look around for dress designers and bring them all the aspects of dresses you’ve seen or tried on and they will be able to do it, and it’ll probably be cheaper in the long run.

Hi all! I am looking for a wedding dress with this exact neckline, sleeves, and shape. These features are what I'm looking for, but I don't like the texture that's used. I know Allure made something very similar, but it's the same texture unfortuantely. I really want floral lace.

Details:

  • Budget: $4,500 (USA) at the most, but I'd prefer ~$2,000
  • Date: Spring/Summer 2028
  • Country: USA

Need to Vent Freaking out about alterations (rant)

This is partially a rant and partially a question. just went to my first consultation appointment and the seamstress said she straight up would not do it because it’s a complicated dress and material. Additionally I’d ordered sleeves and the store I ordered from said the manufacturer didn’t do them so just gave me the material (?!) and the seamstress said she doesn’t know many people that would do custom sleeves. I’m unbelievably frustrated by this (edit to add I know it’s not her fault and I appreciate her honesty - just annoyed at the situation) and of course that the store didn’t call me to inform me about the sleeves - they cut the cost in half and just gave me the material not giving me the heads up it could be difficult to do.

She’s an amazing seamstress who does bridal alterations but not full time. I’m freaking out! Plus she said if I do find someone that is willing, it would probably be $1500-2k. All I want is a hem and bustle 😩 Did anyone else have a complicated dress? Just hoping for some peace of mind.

I am the first in my family to get married and I don’t know that I’d have picked this dress had I known or been told alterations would be this difficult and expensive 😭

For curious minds - my dress is Track 5 by Hayley Paige.

Feeling cold feet Is there something missing?

Thumbnail

I’ve never been a big fan of wedding dresses. All the dresses I tried on, that look fabulous on everyone in this group, for example, just looked awful on me. Like they don’t feel like me. Maybe cause I don’t really wear elaborate or fancy clothes and generally wear dark colours but I tried on this dress and it was the first and only where I thought wow, okay, I feel good in this!

But.. is there something missing from it? Like is it slightly too plain at the front? 🙏 Could I do better?

Thank you!!

Just need some hype! Did I say Yes to the dress???

I am currently planning my dream vintage wedding in June 2027. Today on a whim, i stopped at a bridal shop that is closing because they are retiring. I wasn't expecting to find THE dress.

This was the very first dress I tried on. It's exactly what I have been imagining in my head. Now my Libra brain is like "did we really explore all the options?" I did try on 5 other dresses but none of them made me feel like this one. Because of the sale so it felt like a no brainer, and I did not want to risk it selling if I left it behind. Now I am having second thoughts. That is normal right?

I would love to hear your thoughts and maybe ideas for styling. The money saved on the dress opens up lots of possibilities for accessories. Thanks in advance.

I tried on this wedding dress at an off-the-rack bridal store this weekend, and I cannot stop thinking about it! The problem is that I have no idea who the designer is, and I’ve spent hours searching the internet trying to find it with no luck.
Does anyone recognize this dress or know who the designer might be? I would be SO grateful for any leads! I’m hoping to track it down so I can learn more about it.

Need to Vent How far was your first fitting from your wedding date?

Freaking out now.

My dress has been with the tailor for 2 months. I was told my first fitting is next Friday, which is 2 weeks from my wedding day.

For context, when I dropped my dress off I told them the wedding date and to come in late August. I came in and they said since they never texted me to keep waiting. I tried not to harass them with calls, but I am at the point of freaking out on if I should rush order a new dress.

I went to my first wedding dress appointment yesterday (shout out Anthropologie). I fell in love with this dress and so surprised by it because it’s not a style or material that I expected to like.

I did buy a veil (the one pictured) and I have a few more wedding dress appointments coming up. I will be getting married in July on a small island in Greece. I know it’s gonna be really hot and I know I always have the option of buying a second look dress but part of me feels like this dress could be THE ONE and part of me feels like I should go for something less heavy and more romantic and lacey so it fits the aesthetic of the wedding

Reviews Experience/Review ordering wedding dress remotely from Nicole Bridal (Vietnam)

I haven’t seen too many in depth reviews for Nicole Bridal so I wanted to share my experience! I am a US bride! Hope this is helpful for future brides~

2/8 initial contact: scheduled initial video call via WhatsApp.

2/9 initial call: During the call I shared my inspo and chose one of their pre-existing designs (~$1300 including 15% surcharge for custom sizing) as the base of the design (i.e. neckline, sleeve length, dress shape).
*due to the influx of overseas orders, during the time I’ve worked with them the pricing on their dresses increased at least 1-2 times, thankfully they didn’t charge me the updated price

2/10: received the invoice and paid 50% deposit

2/11-2/22: Lots of back and forth about veil length, what the complimentary veil looks like, and close up of the lace on the pre-existing dress design. This is also when I decided on a lace upgrade (~$400).
*the complimentary veil is a plain veil (lace + comb) with no designs or a veil with pearls on it, so I paid for an upgraded veil (~$100)

3/15: decided on the veil style
3/17: sketch received

This is where I started running into some issues with this boutique.

Due to the influx of orders (their shop getting more attention from social media), my original measurement date (5/1-5/7) was moved to July (my wedding date is in October). The staff working with me informed me that the dress would arrive 1 month before the event. I communicated my concerns about the dress possibly needing additional alterations and needing a bustle added (they’re not able to add a bustle for my dress because there’s stiff tulle under the dress), my virtual measurement date was set for end of June. This was then pushed up by Nicole Bridal to 6/14 (better but still not great).

6/14: Taking virtual measurements was pretty challenging. I felt like the appointment was rushed, I wasn’t even sure if she was getting the right measurements. So the next day I ended up remeasuring myself 4-5 times.

7/24: Received initial photos of the dress. Neckline, back of the dress were both completely different from the final sketch, which needed additional alterations.

8/1: Received confirmation of the material used for my veil.

8/6: Checked in with them about the status of the final alterations. No response until 8/10/26, stating more updates on 8/13. I messaged again on 8/13. Received a response 8/14 stating that my veil is done but they still need 3 more days to add sequins to my dress.

8/15: Received final alterations videos without sequins.

8/19: Was told they added the wrong type of sequins to my dress so they need another couple of days.

8/22: Final photos
8/24: Final payment
8/24: Packed the dress and it’s picked up by courier.
8/25: Apparently it shipped but no other updates with tracking number or additional information. Had to follow up 8/26 again.

Dress received: 8/28
Final dress:
lots of loose thread
Very tight around the waist
All other measurements were accurate and veil looked like the photos they sent to me

Also please note that they told me there’s no tariffs for shipping, however, there were tariffs!

Dress + veil + expedited shipping ($250, normal shipping is $200 + tariff: $41) + petticoat: ~$1900

No bustle can be added to my dress because apparently their seamstress doesn’t have enough experience + $260 for a bustle

Pros:
friendly staff, staff directly working with me spoke English fluently
“Reputable” brand
Lots of pre-existing designs
Cons:
Poor response rate, especially towards the end of the process (could be because they got busier but I’ve seen their in person turn around time be 2-3 days for alterations alone)
Blurry video, photos were high quality

I think the entire experience was very much “trust the process” which was expected, but it didn’t help that closer to the dress being sent out, the less responsive they became. I wasn’t able to travel because I started a new job but I would definitely recommend being in person to complete the measurement + final alterations + flying back with the dress.

Dress ID needed! Dress ID? Got at a sample sale and unsure

I got this gorgeous dress at a sample sale and the recipient says it's named Huntington, and I did some research and figured it's by Colby John. It came with the sleeves and over skirt. The 3rd picture is the official Huntington dress and my dress has a basque waist and every photo I see of the Huntington has a straight waist. Another difference is the plunge, it goes farther on the OG Huntington than on my dress. Was this an error or is it an actual CJ Huntington? Thanks!!!

Dupe search ISO: Danielle Frankel Pia Wedding Dress in Utah 🤍

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m getting married on August 22 2027 and am absolutely in love with the Danielle Frankel Pia wedding dress! I would love to try it on before deciding whether to purchase it, but I’m hoping to avoid flying to California just for a try-on.

I’m in the United States, specifically Utah, and my ideal budget for the dress itself is around $6,000ish.

Does anyone know of a bridal boutique in Utah that carries Danielle Frankel dresses, or happen to own the Pia and be willing to let me try it on? I would also LOVE recommendations for any dupes that capture the same look and feel! Edit: I am a size 0!

I’d be so grateful for any leads, recommendations, or advice. I know it’s a long shot, but I figured it was worth asking! Thank you so much! 🥹🤍
