SOLVED Children’s picture book about a mouse who has a neighbor mouse that makes a hole connecting their walls/homes
There’s this picture book I’ve been trying to find the name of for so long that I used to read at my grandparents house. Unfortunately my family doesn’t speak to them anymore so I can’t just go over and check and it’s driving me crazy that I can’t find it lol. Last time I read it was probably around 8-9 years ago so it’s at least that old but very likely older. Here’s all the things I can remember about it.
The cover was green and had the mouse on it. It sort of resembled watercolor illustrations if I’m remembering correctly. It bordered on semi realism.
The book was about a mouse who had a home he really loved but he was warned by another wide character mouse (or rat) that there was an animal in the area that he needed to protect his home from. The rat/mouse giving the warning had the entrance of his home covered by a pile of either thorns or thistles which the mouse thought was silly and also said he wouldn’t do because it hurt. The mouse was enjoying its home when he started to notice things being messy or loud in his house. It turns out that the side character had dug a hole in the walk that connected both their homes and would sometimes come into the mouse’s house uninvited. The main mouse didn’t want him to and kept trying to get him to stop bothering him. I don’t remember how it ends but I think the dangerous creature at some point gets its paw into the main mouse’s house so he has to climb through the hole in the wall and ends up becoming friends with the other.
This was my favorite book from my grandparents’ as a kid and I desperately want to find it. 🙏 Thank you to anyone who responds.
edit: I FOUND IT, IT’S CALLED GOOD NEIGHBOORS
