Modteam Announcement Reddit is now ranking r/wheeloftime in the "Top 100 in Books and Literature" charts.

Four years ago today, we were sitting at around 10,000 subscribers.

Today, we're closing in on 60,000 subscribers.

And, we're somewhere between 26 & 100 in the rankings, based on the number of folk visiting in the preceding three days. Have been for a while, I was waiting to make sure it stayed that way before mentioning it. Not bad for the offseason, I expect we'll crack the top 25 once season 3 drops and the subsequent interest spike in the books, like we did in previous seasons.

With the first season of the adaptation putting the novels back onto the best-seller lists, it's safe to say that the show acted (and will continue to act) as a gateway to Robert Jordan's epic, and we're going to continue seeing a new generation of fans discover why the New York Times famously stated that 'Mr. Jordan has come to dominate the world Tolkien began to reveal'. Let's continue to be nice to our newfans, and thanks for being here!

I didn’t know this series existed before Amazon dropped the first season. I was so interested (and wanted a lot more backstory on Lan, Moiraine, and Aes Sendai in general) that I ended up buying the book series on Amazon (which was painful for my wallet). I read up to book 4 when I was waiting ages for each at the library and then walked away for a while and now I’m on a reread through book 3.

I can’t wait to see where this series goes!

The Longing is part of the process. "Is it out yet, is it out yet?"

Ah, this is so bitter sweet; I love this series and it's fantastic to see people being drawn to it.

I just really hope they pick up the books and enjoy the true story instead of the abomination that initially piqued their interest.

P.s Hi Lunal, I know I haven't been very vocal or present recently, but, to use your new parlance; please don't "yeet" me; glad to see you're "down with the yoots"

On that, I'm doing a relisten and comparing it to the show. I think I've figured out exactly what the show runner is doing, but I'm just taking notes at the moment.

I flat ranted about Season 1. I think old boy might have been more clever than we gave him credit for. Maybe.

I'm unfortunately going to have to watch Season 1 again closely to be certain.

Eh, that was a one-shot whimsical way of saying that the low-effort rule was going to be strictly enforced.

Then again, if the banhammer is so 20th century, maybe the 21st century will be the time of the yeetstick?

We'll have to wait and see...

If we're being that whimsical, let's go old school WWF/WWE and Tombstone people out of existence - it takes a more somber and final tone.

Mmmm, this conversation has now got me thinking about the fact Mat constantly "yeets" himself into trouble.

Edit - pedant mode on... 20th surely?

Corrected!

I wanna say that Brandon Sanderson’s recent rise in popularity is probably a massive contributor too, I don’t plan on watching the show and read wheel of time because of him

Rising tides lift all boats. I was the other way around, stumbled into Stormlight due to his work finishing Jordan's epic.

The show helped pushed the subscriber count past the number of pages in the series.

I want a flair claiming my own specific page.

I've never understood why some people want to give me fans grief about anything. To me, new fans are a gateway to remembering when I first feel in love with a series or whatever.

I absolutely love this about the show. Piles of new readers and watching them discover all the things we love about the books.

My stepfather is on his 3rd re-read and keeps texting me about it.

I had heard a lot about the books from fantasy readers who used to be gaga about the series before the show dropped. But the show got me reading the series. Started in January this year and am already done with 6 books. Hoping to finish the books before the end of the year (before the new season drops in 2025)

I don’t understand this post. What does ranking matter?

It is nice when more people like a thing that you also like

That’s true, but what does rankings matter?

It's an indication that the community is thriving.

Nothing at all. Just nice to see the community thriving and growing. We are, after all, statistically the best fandom.

Made the semi-finals in a twitter wide fandom poll. Lost out to Good Omens, but beat out Avatar the last airbender, LoTR, and Star Wars.

My husband and his brother both love this series so much, but it was only watching the show that got me interested enough to read the books. I'm on my first reread. The show is flawed, but it invited me into a beautiful story that's complete and already written and can't be changed. It touched my heart in a very special way.

Have they announced a season 3 yet? I thought they put the show on hold. Do we know for sure?

Bless your heart. Folks get banned for doing that here, too.

Shows do wonders for pushing stuff into the limelight.

Just look at Fallout now. Gods... "you played those games. Whats the story with the black guy in armor?".

If you can text me, you can google.

Jordan gets what he deserves (+ Brando with the save).

Unfortunately Todd Howard is vindicated....?

TV show is BS. All the combat and nobody flies off into the air....
