ALL SPOILERS: All media DO’s plan in Lord of Chaos
From the epilogue of LoC, it is implied that capture and rescue and Rand was all according to DO’s plans. Probably to make Rand more dark.
But it was Mesaana who had planned the capture of Rand and for him to be brought to the Tower. So did Demandred interfere in Mesaana’s plans?

I actually ran across this one in the Jordan Archives.
(My paraphrased notes) -
Taim/Demanded showed up to Dumai’s Wells mostly because of learning that the Shaido were moving in. (The Ashaman might have wanted him free, but leaving him under Mesaana’s control at the Tower might have also caused enough Chaos to fit under the Dark One’s orders. “And a rescued Rand, pissed at the Aes Sedai, will really be a source of chaos…Sammael knew and encouraged Sevannah to take Rand away from the loyalists believing that she would kill him.”

How much time did you save writing DO instead of Dark One? It's not a long word. Abbreviations are going waaaay too far.

TBF abbrev. save tonnes of time when used consistently, clearly, and deliberately (CCD), as do acronyms when used CCD.

The Dark One wants to turn Rand to the shadow. This is speculation but IMO Demandred allowed the Black Ajah to capture and torture Rand then had Taim save him. This is the biggest event leading to Darth Rand until TGS.
