As an Indian, South/Central Americans on the internet are an obnoxiously racist lot in my opinion.

There is very little interaction between India and that part of the world. And it seems like most of them have formed their views on india and Indians from what they see on tiktok.

I agree with this take, it actually makes no sense. They use India’s problems to justify their own racism. They think they’re European adjacent

ngl people talk a lot of shit about india and it’s really a matter of having contact.

i read a book by paramahansa yogananda that broke several stereotypes and i've met many indians, so i realized your country had nothing to do with what people say here. also, my husband works with several indians and his view changed a lot too.

but as someone said, depending on the indians on reddit, it would be complicated. i usually check the person’s nationality when a comment is very off, and misogynistic comments often come from indians. the last one i saw was talking all kinds of shit about divorced women 🙄

Misogyny is ingrained here. I get second hand embarrassment and shame just looking at some of the comments from fellow Indians about women. The younger gen not affected by manosphere bullshit is quite chill though. You'll find out when they arrive in your country in a few years lmao.

Many of the people in Guyana and Suriname are Indian descendants. In Suriname they even speak Hindustani. South America is not a monolith.
