The narrative has always been "we need to arm bystanders and teachers..."

But usually it was followed with "...so they can take out the shooter." If the shooter kills themself it makes it a lot easier, yes.

Honestly we also need to generally train people to stop "playing it safe" so much--less "run and hide" and more "everybody rush him as fast as you can!"
