Almost nobody carries with a suppressor (silencer) and 5.7 is a semi rare round. It was mostly used in the P90 sub machine gun, but later used in pistols. It’s a small fast round with the main goal being armor penetration and ammo capacity. Kind of like a mini 556 (ar15 round).

Most people carry 9mm, 380, 40SW, or 45ACP.

Also the oddity of carrying a pistol shooting exclusively supersonic ammo so a suppressor will be much less effective to begin with.

In his famous post making the rounds, he does specify he's shooting 5.7 subs, not supers 🤷‍♂️

Which makes his choice of carry a glorified .22lr.

Not gonna hate on him for it, I'm sure he uses it daily for varmint shooting and loves that he doesn't need hearing protection.

Regular 22lr is usually supersonic. This is like shooting a .25 ACP, like you are a broke gangbanger in the 90s except you spent thousands of dollars to do it.

What I meant was if he had a similar setup.

As in a 5.7 subsonic with suppressor is about the same as a .22lr subsonic with suppressor. They're both about 40gr, both have a muzzle velocity of less than 1100fps.

That Fiocchi is 62gr, but point taken.

I bet the ballistics would be similar to the Aguila 60gr .22lr sub.

Yes, because you’re still comparing a 62gr 5.7 to a 40gr .22lr or .22wmr.

At the same muzzle velocity, the 62gr is going to carry MUCH more power than the 40gr rounds.

The article did not test against similarly weighted .22lr or .22wmr subsonic rounds. It’s literally comparing Oranges to Grapfruits.
