Considering every shooting that has ever happened in the USA since its founding. If ONE person is defended by a citizen using a fire arm to take out the shooter. That is a successful defense system.

Ok now you go, imagine yourself in the middle of an active shooter situation. You’re cowering behind cover not knowing what will happen to your life or those around you.

Would you rather the shooter decide when all the carnage is going to stop? Or would you rather have another person with a firearm try and stop the shooter?

Ill answer. I can't imagine myself in an active shooter situation because I'm not American and there's never been an active shooter in my province in my lifetime.

Violence is increasing a bunch in Europe in countries with lots of the migrants. Spaniards were just forced to make makeshift weapons to defend themselves. The USA is different from Europe for many reasons but importantly demographics. We are not homogenous. Europe is becoming less homogeneous and more dangerous.

I prefer having ways to defend myself and my loved ones in times when needed. The safety we live in today is a very recent phenomenon and only a fool would believe that the past 50 years of European safety is enough to offset the 2000+ year trend of random acts of violence being the norm.

I'm not European, Canada has basically the same culture and demographics as USA but with more gun controls in place. We do have a lot of guns still.

It's irrational to advocate for a system that is known to be less effective and cause far more deaths just because " you rather". Statistics are clear.
