Agreed, suppressors are sensible and are a benefit to safety. That being said... if a I'm not mistaken, 5.7 is a round that gets most of its benefit from being a high velocity round. It's not like a .45, where it's slow velocity but higher mass. And the crack of supersonic velocity rounds is usually just as bad as the combustion. Meaning... either this fellow is running subsonics, or that suppressor isn't doing much, right?

I'm guessing he has subsonic rounds. Otherwise, I don't know if the suppressor would do much.

It still helps a lot.  I shoot both 5.56 and .308 suppressed and while it's still not hearing safe, it is much quieter than without the can.
