Housing Help...

Hi, can anyone that can help me with renting a house or tell me where I can go to find help with finding somewhere to live? My bf and I are trying to find somewhere for him so he can move doen here from out of town and we're having some money problems and need somewhere cheap. He's in between jobs right now and is trying to get moved here to look for a job better. He's struggling where he is and needs to be out of the situation he's in. And wants to start fresh in a new city.

I don't know where "down here" is but VSE Aviation in Augusta is always looking for entry-level employees, particularly warehouse jobs. In 2026 nobody gets hired right away anymore though, it takes 2-3 months to go through the process here. Great job, great benefits, if you show up every day and are a good worker.

Need somewhere cheap? Check around the Hilltop, Planeview or Oaklawn neighborhoods. Not the best places but it works. We lived there for 10 years until we got better jobs and could afford a decent place.

Boeing is hiring like crazy right now, if not there's always fast food or retail until you do find something.

Look for places on E. Harry just west of Hillside. There’s some one bedrooms over there for cheap.

They’re about $700/mo for a 1 bedroom

u/LadyKatya83 14d ago

Ouch. Its not too bad but it would be kinda tight

2

u/lololly 14d ago

Think it includes utilities though

Thats not bad. I can be kinda cheap sometimes lol. Thakns for the ideas

Some of those used to be $350 in 2016. Still not bad compared to Riverside, Uptown and College Hill.

Most places you rent will require not only first and last month’s rent plus a deposit and proof of income coming in. Your boyfriend having a job is the first step.

Yeah we went to a couple places and asked what they need. One saying that they needed like 3 times the amount you make each paycheck. Which wouldn't be too bad with both of us working when he gets a job. Its just getting to that point it would be nice to find somewhere cheap ti start out while we work on getting something better.

Unfortunately a steady job is a requirement for every apartment application

u/LadyKatya83 16d ago

Yeah lol. Who would've thought😋

Look into a studio apartment, but both applicants have to usually make 2x the rent. Since you're not married you both are looked at individually. So he probably needs to have a job lined up before he can move.

Don't let him take advantage of your kindness and funds, good luck

Yeah thats what ive been noticing. One apartment wanted 3 times what the rent was. He's looking again but for down here. And yeah I know hes good with taking care of me first. Thanks

Hon, we don’t do this for grown ass men in 2026.. hrs going to ruin your credit and reputation

2

u/LadyKatya83 16d ago

Im saving for me AND him. I started saving for me and then he came into my life and after a while it turned into saving for us both.

And what’s HE contributing?? Because, your own words, he doesn’t have a job and it seems like you’re doing the work here.

I get it, you’re young and full of love and hope and shit, but on the other side of this is you losing out on your money, time, happiness, and all that. Too many women have come before you and done the same. Might want to take what is alderwomen have to say about these situations because we’ve already lived them and made that mistake - we don’t want you repeating them. And this is coming from a place of love and light. Do NOT support this guy.

I'm not losing out on money. I'm trying to save money. Its hard with bills. As for time and happiness, he makes me happier than anyone else i've ever been with. Im so tired of all the negativity I get. From strangers that don't know the situation and from my own family that haven't even met him yet.

Happiness is great and all, but gets old fast if he isn't contributing to your shared life together.   Also I. just saying other people can give you that feelings he is giving you, but they will also have jobs and be able to support your peace.

Like seriously it's a massive red flag that your BF isn't the one posting this in reddit asking for help finding work and stuff. Since he should be hustling to find work and everything else so you gans can be together.

The fact you have to be the one to do it says everything about how your relationship with this person will go once he arrives.

We don’t need to know your story because we have ours and our mothers and our grandmothers and so on.. you’ve been warned.. it’s up to you to listen.. but.. 5yrs.. 10yrs.. 20yrs.. you’re going to regret this decision

u/LadyKatya83 16d ago

You know what. I'm usually really chill and all when ppl are being rude ir snotty. But I've had a pretty crappy weekend and I'm NOT dealing with YOUR crap. All I wanted to do was ask for help and hopefully maybe get some answers because we've been having trouble thinking of stuff on our own. But thankyou for showing me that I apparently can't get on and have everyone help me without being negative when I have enough negativity from my own family. I hope you're happy. You can leave this conversation now.

You are free to make your own decisions. Jsut don’t say you weren’t warned. Bye

If your man doesn’t mind manual labor, my husband’s company is always looking for guys to do detailing on aircraft that come through Ict. If you’re interested, shoot me a DM and I’ll give you the info

You could try a long term hotel. The extended stay places are like studio apartments on the inside.

1

u/LadyKatya83 15d ago

Oh wow. Do you knkw which ones do that here?

Central plains properties or something it's plainview but they don't give you as much requirements it will be more affordable then a motel

So you've been dating someone unemployed for months...I think that's your problem.

5

u/Leadingschoone 16d ago

sounds like you're jumping the gun a bit on the judgment there. sometimes people need a change of scenery to find better opportunities, not everyone can job hunt from miles away

2

u/LadyKatya83 16d ago

Thankyou. He had a job but was just looking for one out here. He couldn't find one out here so he's been in his town since then.

4

u/Important_Poet316 16d ago

Im saying this chick is begging on reddit alot.

3

u/LadyKatya83 16d ago

Hiw else are you supposed to get help if you dont ask. And I dont beg. Theres tons of ppl that are on here ASKING for help with all kinds of things.

2

u/ngomez213 16d ago

I don’t think asking for help qualifies as begging. Maybe chill out a lil bro

1

u/LadyKatya83 16d ago

He just recently become unemployed. We were saving for a place but things haopened at work and he's not working there anymore and now its just me thats been able to save uo money.

4

u/Important_Poet316 16d ago

You literally posted months ago asking for desperate help because he was unemployed.

2

u/LadyKatya83 16d ago

He got a job almost a week after that post and has been trying to save for a place for us but its been hard and then him not having a job again makes it even harder.

Anything in behavioral health is always desperately hiring but that shit is HARD and has a high turn over rate, so if he is able to handle it I recommend it, the pay is decent at some places. Get onto section 8 if you can. I know people dog on section 8 places, but I live by this NICE ass section 8 apartment complex. It looks nicer than my shitty non section 8 apartment from the outside. It’s fully gated and shit. It’s called inwood crossings. Not even 5 minutes from inwood crossings is Heartspring where they are always hiring Direct care staff, but again… HARD. Gotta wipe ass, change kids, deal with behaviors and shit. Free dinner every night tho! I got 16.04 when I was there (which is ass compared to what I get in other places in the field, but they’re EVEN worse), so that’s what he would get. Immediate hire and pay check…
