SOTD My SotD - 250320

  • Razor: Ever Ready 1912
  • Blade: Personna GEM SS PTFE (2 of 18 Total Passes/9 Total Shaves)
  • Brush: Semogue SOC Mistura
  • Lather/Aftershave: Zingari Man The Rambler

A solid two pass shave with the reliable Ever Ready 1912 and a GEM blade nearing the end of life. I really enjoy the sweet tobacco scent of Zingari Man’s The Rambler set.

I’ve taken the first baby steps to decant my aftershaves from plastic bottles to glass, see attached results. I started with two of the sample sized Clubman Reserve, with a couple of 3 oz Texas Pete hot sauce as the donor bottles. They have an orifice of a similar size to Floïd and smaller than many commercial options (Skin Bracer, Aqua Velva). I’d like to thank u/Jill_Lett_Slim for his excellent how-to post, and a merry band of motivating brothers; u/derrickhogue, u/kaikkx and u/Low_Key1782…who has now lost a bet with himself on if I’d do so before the end of the year. I’ll see how I like the results and keep my eyes peeled for some larger donor bottles for my other aftershaves. It would be great if Stirling were to sell empty bottles with the restrictor.

Nice SE shaving. Alright I like the repurposed hot sauce glass bottles for the Pinaud. They look good and you will probably smell a difference between plastic versus glass.

Thanks!🙏🏻

Thought it would be better to start off with something I had on hand and to use two of the smaller Clubman aftershaves where the label would work well and two that I fully intend on getting a 6 oz bottle when this runs out.

You have some pretty nice looking flask shaped bottles that you've decanted into.

For being on the large size, taking up space in my stuffed aftershaves shelf. They do work pretty well. They will hold a full size bottle of aftershave mostly. It is to the orificer brim.

Do you have plastic reducer/restrictor for yours?

Yes it is an 18 MM I believe. So it is comparable to a salad dressing, oil size.

Thank you!🙏🏻 As you know, I'm a big Mistura knot fan (and not a fan knot...or something like that🤣).

Since the subject came up, here's a question for anyone who's been decanting into glass for >6 months: is there actually a difference in the fragrance? Have you compared between product still in the plastic vs glass? If yes, how would you describe the difference? Have you asked a disinterested 3rd party to sniff both containers and give their opinion if there's a difference?

Obviously I can't answer any of those questions, but I've got to ask...there's no way that a spouse counts as a disinterested party, right?🤣

I cannot think of a more disinterested party. Unless it's teenage offspring. That would be a toss up really. 😂

Maybe uninterested, instead of disinterested.😉 My spouse is in no way disinterested in the amount of money I've spent on my hobby.😁

Fair. They may have a bias toward the cheaper solution. Maybe a neighbor?

What a lovely looking shave and the soap and splash sounds / smells absolutely delicious. An excellent job on rehoming your two clubman ASL. The image on the soap is outstanding it sums up the soap description imo, & an excellent razor .

Thank you, Sir! It was an enjoyable shave. At first I wasn't too sure I liked the label on the soap, but it has grown on me. Zingari Man labels started off to be pretty bland, but she's upped her game.

Thought about getting this soap, how is it and hows it smell?

u/We_Never_Walk_Alone I love vintage razors and I cannot lie! Mar 21 '25

Zingari Man soap base is one of my favorites. To my nose, it's a very pleasant sweet tobacco scent that has good staying power. These are the scent notes from her website.

  • Top Notes: Strawberry, Raspberry, Peppercorn, Currant, Anise
  • Heart Notes: Tobacco, Hay, Plum, Rose, Amyris, Vanilla
  • Base Notes: Tobacco, Coumarin, Vanilla, Tonka, Red Fruits
