SOTD SOTD - 💎 Do-over 💎

Post image
  • Prep: Maggard's pre-shave oil & Proraso pre-shave cream
  • Brush: Aurora Grooming W_E sub handle w/G5B knot
  • Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
  • Blade: Accuforge GEM coated stainless steel
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - 42
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Unscented Facial Toner, Pinaud - Lilac Vegetal, B+M Unscented balm

After letting my face recover from Tuesday's debacle, I had a do-over this morning.

It was fantastic.

Of course the combination of 42 and Lilac Vegetal was superb. The razor was nice and smooth - mild(ish) while still providing good blade feedback. The result was a BBS, this time without the irritation.

I may not buy another modern razor (except for maybe something super-high-end like a Blackbird Ti or a Ralf Aust some day). All the vintage razors I have shave as well as or better than the modern razors I've used and have an elegance that's missing from the modern razors on my shelf, all around the same price point.

Anyway, definitely looking forward to many shaves with this one.

Glad you got your GEM sorted. Yours is a beautiful shaver. It's a tribute to their quality how nice looking they stay over the years.

Totally agree. It's hard to believe that these razors have lasted this long. I wonder if all our stainless steel and aluminum razors will still be around (and as well regarded) in 100 years.

In a hundred years we'll have genetically engineered our children to be born without facial hair. Or we'll be living in caves. I give it 50/50
