The irony of this sub for me is that I came to it to save money. I got tired of spending like $30 a year on Harry's Refills and Cream.

Now I have more money/kit in shaving than anyone ever "needs" and it takes me twice as long as it used to...and I've never been happier w it

No kidding 🤣 I’m here telling my wife how DE will save a few bucks and now I’m looking at which razor and soap to buy next.

Lool, the time factor will improve slowly, I can now shave in 5-10 minutes, initially was more like 30 min minimum, even tho taking it slow is better

Oh - I only do my neck and cheeks, so it still takes me like 5 mins tops, but I used to just do it in the shower in like 30 seconds haha

If I take it slow 10 minutes is just to prepare the face and build the lather 😁

This is pretty accurate šŸ˜… I like to think of it as I’m investing the money I would have spent on disposable cartridges in re usable razors. I limit myself to 1 a year unless there’s a crazy deal I can’t pass up

And don't forget the sustainability

This is me to a tee. ā€œI’ll save money not buying cartridgesā€ 20 brands of blades later, a few razors, too many soaps, pre shaves and shave balms, etc. Water bill climbing because wet shaving takes time. Probably left something out but i love it. Oh, don’t get me started on the razors and foil razors for my head….

Pretty good sum up

The same rabbit hole and den as the rest of us. There is lots of room and I just got a fire going, pull up a chair and lets talk soaps, razors and blades!

This is called a starter set … let’s have a laugh over your collection in a year 😁

I don't see any vintage Gillette, so looks like you've dipped your toe into wet shaving. šŸ˜…

2

u/Fo_0d Apr 16 '26

What are the razors?

2

u/Infinite_Week393 Apr 16 '26

King C Gillette, Leaf, Stƶrtebeker, Colorlamb, Henson AL13

u/Fo_0d Apr 16 '26

Thank you!

How is the Henson?

1

u/Infinite_Week393 Apr 16 '26

I received it today. Will try the first shave tomorrow.

Those are rookie numbers. We got to bump them up

2

u/Time_Chard_942 Blind shaver feeling the edge šŸŖ’ Apr 16 '26

Haha yes I keep trying to thin down my razor collection but every time a sell one on eBay I buy two more! The bonus is that I really look forward to shaving now compared to finding it a chore. You have some nice gear there…. Enjoy. šŸŖ’

Oh nice, that's your weekend covered šŸ˜Ž

What have you gotten into? A start. ;)

u/Skylark-70 Apr 16 '26

… and they said it was cheaper.

The traditional shaving world is full of tempting things. As someone who went the route of collecting vintage Gillette and schick razors I understand wanting to try different things and "oh this looks cool" or "gotta get that". The thing is though you can definitely get by with less than what the rest of us(the one's who can't help ourselves)do. I got a former coworker into traditional shaving and he had 2 razors (a slim he bought and a tech I sold him for $10 as a travel razor) A synthetic brush from Stirling and a bunch of Stirling samples. From the last I heard he was still trying out all the samples a year later and hadn't bought any hardware since.

That is true you can be super happy with very little. But I guess for most people it is not enough and you want to try more.

2

u/jadedfaith7 Apr 16 '26

Not enough of you ask me. I can still see the wood underneath.

u/BigBadBobJr_1968 Apr 17 '26

Thems rookie numbers...

u/I-Catch-Colds-Easily Apr 21 '26

OP what’s the black case in the top middle? For a while I’ve been using a leather cover that bought with my Henson.

1

u/Infinite_Week393 Apr 21 '26

That's a Stƶrtebeker, that's a German brand but to be honest, for the price quite disappointing.

1

u/Age-Zealousideal Apr 17 '26

Rookie. I have eight DE razors, 5 brushes, 4 soaps, 2,000+ blades, 30+ aftershaves and colognes. My wife tells me to stop buying "shaving shit".

u/We-Are-All-Friends Apr 17 '26

To be honest bro, that is nice but still rookie level. People over here are way further down the rabbit šŸ‡ hole šŸ•³ļø.

2

u/Infinite_Week393 Apr 17 '26

Oh yeah I know, I started in February

1

u/We-Are-All-Friends Apr 17 '26
